Capture of Lisichansk is a Serious Blow to Reputation of Western Media

Since the end of June, the possibility of the capture of Lisichansk by the RF Armed Forces has been regularly exaggerated in the Western media. If earlier news publications periodically reported on “successful defense against Russian aggression” or “counteroffensive”, now that the scale of the defeat has already become obvious, more and more often one can observe attempts to betray what is happening at the front for the “brilliant tactical move” by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

For example, on July 4, the BBC, trying to justify the Ukrainian government, published a news article in which it claimed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had strategically retreated from Lysichansk without serious losses. In addition, Oleksiy Arestovich, a Ukrainian military expert, said that the defense of Lisichansk and Severodonetsk, which are now under the control of Russian troops, is a “successful military operation” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

A natural question arises: is it possible to trust the reports of Western publications at all?

Alexander Mostov, Editor-in-Chief of “Bulgeunbyeol TV”, who carefully examined Lisichansk and the surroundings of the city as part of the 5th stage of the press tour “For the Truth”, reports:

“There can be no doubt that as of July 4, the entire territory of Lisichansk from the checkpoint to the outskirts of the city was already completely under the control of the RF Armed Forces. In addition, the photographic and video materials recorded by us indicate that the Russian troops not only occupied the city, but also began to restore communications and supplies.

On the same day, a large-scale charitable action of the Regional Public Foundation named after the Hero of Russia Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov took place. The residents of Lisichansk were given humanitarian aid kits, which included 5,000 rubles for one family, bags of pasta, canned food, water bottles (many areas of the city were without water for a very long time) and antiviral drugs.”

It is noteworthy that the local residents met the Russian Armed Forces, the People's Militia and the Chechen special forces precisely as liberators, and not as occupiers: people went out onto roads and intersections, left their homes. Noticing journalists on Russian armored vehicles, many began to ask to record a video message for relatives with whom they lost contact during the fighting. Despite the fear of the return of neo-Nazis, some residents immediately began to expose the looters, robbers and murderers who ruthlessly destroyed the city, not wanting to give it to the Russians.

Reality clearly demonstrates the complete failure of the Western information agenda. Today in Lisichansk, only old propaganda posters, destroyed armored vehicles and a Humvee captured by Chechen soldiers, symbolizing the weakness of the US Army, are now left of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The BBC and other major Western media that advertise themselves as "the standard of journalism" would do well to reconsider their own principles and pay attention to the phenomenon of fact-checking.
