A Wound That Still Has Not Healed Today

Seventy long years have now passed since the fierce gunfire of war ceased in this land.

However, no matter how much time passes and generations change, the brutal atrocities committed by US imperialists during the past Fatherland Liberation War remain as historical crimes that can never be erased or covered up.

Not long ago, elderly Pak Ui Bom, who lives in Namchil-ri, Anju City, told us about the heartbreaking facts he experienced as a child.

Through his story, we could once again keenly realize how much indelible pain the US imperialists inflicted upon our people in the past.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said as follows:

"The Fatherland Liberation War, which made us correctly understand and never forget the aggressiveness and brutality of US imperialism, took away parents, brothers and sisters, precious comrades and friends from everyone in this land and brought horrific misfortune and pain."

It was a day in 1955, when elderly Pak Ui Bom was ten years old.

At that time, when the song of post-war reconstruction construction was powerfully resonating across this land where everything had been turned into ruins by the brutal bombing atrocities of the US imperialists, schools were the first to rise everywhere thanks to the benevolence of the country that values the future of the fatherland, and children went to and from school with happy smiles blossoming.

That day too, Pak Ui Bom finished studying at school and was returning home spiritedly singing songs with his friends.

But when they reached the foot of a mountain with the village in sight, one child discovered something by the roadside.

Being at a curious age, the children ran over there.

Approaching, they saw that metal objects buried in the ground had been exposed by the rain.

As the children were all chattering about what it might be, someone suggested digging them out and selling them as scrap iron, and everyone got excited and started digging up the ground.

But how could ignorant children have known.

That they were dud shells from the US invaders during the past Fatherland Liberation War.

The children were busily digging out the soil and collecting the metal pieces.

Just then, the lump of iron in Pak Ui Bom's right hand suddenly exploded with a loud blast. His right wrist was instantly severed and flew off, and countless fragments pierced his entire body.

Hearing the explosion, villagers rushed over and hurried him to the hospital.

The young boy was brought back from the brink of death, but ended up disabled.

After graduating from school, Pak Ui Bom voluntarily became a postal worker. It was to convey the Party's voice to the people and implant in everyone's hearts a fiery hatred and desire for revenge against the enemy, and a thorough class consciousness, even with his inconvenient body.

For him, walking tens of ri every day for decades, not just a year or two, was not as easy as saying it. Due to the wounds suffered from the enemy's dud shells, there were often times when it was difficult even to support his whole body. But he walked and walked again.

Holding the awareness that only the enemy bastards would be happy if he sat down or collapsed on this road, and holding the will that his workplace was an important revolutionary outpost for arming people with our Party's ideology and class consciousness, he left unwavering footprints on the postal path, rain or snow.

Though white frost now covers the head of this man who worked faithfully as a postal worker his whole life, the tragedy of that day, unforgettable no matter how much time passes, remains an eternal knot in the elderly man's heart.

Therefore, elderly Pak Ui Bom still tells people about the tragedy of 70 years ago and earnestly pleads with them like this:

"The American bastards are sworn enemies who imposed misfortune and pain on our people not only during the war but also after it. The more precious today's happiness is, never forget for a single moment the crimes committed by the US imperialists on this land, and take revenge a thousandfold on the enemy bastards so that our people never suffer pain like me again."

That's right. The more happiness overflows in this land and joy blossoms in our lives, we must never forget for a single moment the misfortune and pain our people suffered in the past and sharpen the blade of class struggle even more keenly.

In firmly grasping the gun of class and the gun of revolution from generation to generation lies the way to protect our lives and happiness.

Evidence Steeped in Resentment

The Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il gave the following teaching:

"Korea under Japanese colonial rule was itself a prison and a living hell."

The Kwaksan County Class Education House displays a military sword that makes visitors burn with soaring hatred and desire for revenge against the Japanese imperialists. It is a military sword carried by the Japanese bastards before liberation, discovered in Kwaksan County. The long military sword, whose scabbard color has faded but whose blade is still sharp, stands as evidence of resentment, seemingly still emanating the bloody smell of human slaughter, before which visitors cannot tear themselves away for a long time.

Before liberation, the Japanese imperialist bastards set up colonial ruling institutions and organs such as police substations and myon (township) offices in all myons in the Kwaksan area and committed all kinds of atrocities against the people. The Japanese bastards built "Shinto shrines" in every myon and forced our people to worship at them.

That's not all. The Japanese bastards not only ruthlessly destroyed our people's precious cultural relics and remains in various places in the Kwaksan region but also plundered them in great numbers. Wielding military swords in the Taeung Hall of Kaewon Temple, the Japanese bastards forcibly seized golden Buddha statues, brass candle stands, incense burners, and various paintings, and not satisfied with that, they burned hundreds of books recording our country's precious historical materials, anecdotes, and legends.

The vicious Japanese invaders also recklessly plundered precious natural resources from the rice fields, fields, and mines in the Kwaksan area.

The Japanese imperialists said Koreans could not eat white rice, and if even a little rice was found in farmers' houses, they took it all without leaving a single grain. The number of farmers who were beaten with Japanese military swords, bled, and fell because of a few grains of rice was countless.

The plundering acts of the Japanese bastards in the mines were the same. The Japanese bastards who occupied the gold mines in the Kwaksan area forced all kinds of hard labor on our people and plundered large quantities of gold. The greedy Japanese bastards, not satisfied with that, stood guarding the mine entrance with military swords and searched the bodies of workers coming out after a day's work. In the hellish hard labor site without any proper labor safety measures, our workers lost their lives almost daily.

One winter, a tragedy occurred where more than ten workers doing hard labor in a pit without proper ventilation措施 suffocated from gas and lost their lives. But the bastards, drawing their military swords, drove the workers back into the deadly pit face. The workers, unable to endure any longer, rose up and fought back, but they were no match for the Japanese guns and swords.

Much time has passed since then. But the bloody aggression and plundering atrocities committed by the Japanese imperialists against our people must never be forgotten or forgiven, no matter how much time passes or generations change.

Today too, looking at the historical evidence displayed in its original form at the Kwaksan County Class Education House, visitors are firmly pledging to surely settle accounts with the crimes of Japanese imperialism.

Climate Change Causing Sudden Disasters

Humanity is suffering from a serious crisis called climate disaster.

Globally, rainfall patterns are changing. It is not uncommon for warnings to have no time to be issued because rain falls rapidly locally. Also, due to the effects of climate change, the risk of wildfires and field fires occurring on land regardless of season, and the crisis of ecosystem deterioration and seafood production decrease in the sea are increasing.

Extreme drought phenomena are also appearing everywhere.

Generally, drought occurs when no rain falls for a long period, but this year's drought is becoming more severe due to a combination of insufficient rainfall and increased evaporation caused by high temperatures. It is a new type emerging due to climate change, and the forecasting and warning system for it is weak.

Glaciers, called "eternal ice," are melting rapidly. In the European Alps, nearly 40% of glaciers have disappeared since the beginning of this century.

According to the World Meteorological Organization, 2022-2024 is the period with the largest scale glacier reduction in recorded history over three years.

Unpredictable disastrous abnormal climate phenomena may appear anytime, anywhere, in any form. Climate change is constantly bringing sudden natural disasters to all parts of the world.

Let's look only at recent facts.

A debris flow swept through a state in northern India bordering the Himalayan mountain range, leaving over 50 people missing. The debris flow rushed down mountain valleys, engulfing villages and sweeping away houses and roads in a small city.

Experts see the cause as lying in climate change.

In several small towns in eastern Australia, the most snow in decades fell. Several regions received 40 cm of snow, which is said to be the largest amount since the mid-1980s.

Cars were stranded, and power supply to tens of thousands of households was cut off.

A meteorological expert in this country recently stated that weather has become more capricious due to climate change.

In Greece, wildfires continue to occur due to persistent heat waves. On the 12th alone, over 80 wildfires occurred nationwide. Near an industrial district in the western region, a large-scale wildfire caused casualties and destroyed industrial facilities, houses, and farmland.

Spain, experiencing the most persistent and severe heat wave since 1975, is also suffering damage from continuously occurring wildfires. The area burned by wildfires this year has reached over 46,000 acres.

Meanwhile, various regions of Iran are suffering from extreme drought.

The current water volume in reservoirs remains at 42% of total storage capacity.

In the capital Tehran, it is expected that the water in reservoirs will be depleted by the end of September.

In central and northern regions of Somalia, persistent drought has caused over 880,000 people to face water shortage. Wells have dried up, and food and livestock feed are scarce, putting them in a situation where they must receive emergency support, it is said.

What causes even greater concern is that extreme climate change is causing various diseases that have not existed or were rare until now, seriously threatening human life safety.

Recent research results showed that the distribution area of a certain mold that causes fatal lung infections could expand northward due to global warming. This mold, which prefers hot and humid environments, penetrates the lungs through the air and causes disease. Symptoms such as fever and cough are similar to general respiratory infections, making diagnosis difficult and treatment measures limited, it is said.

It is particularly fatal to people with weak immunity or respiratory disease patients, with a fatality rate reaching 20-40%.

The World Health Organization already designated this mold as a deadly threat pathogen in 2022.

Analysis results show that due to the rise in global average temperature, this mold is highly likely to spread to high-latitude regions such as North America, Europe, and Russia.

Researchers express concern that an environment where the human immune system finds it difficult to respond could be created.

Experts from countries around the world are appealing that to prevent various disasters caused by climate change, each country must first strengthen efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

How to Relieve Neck Fatigue

If you keep your head bowed for a long time reading books or working, your neck becomes stiff.

At this time, you can relieve it with the following methods.

First, tilt your head forward slightly and loosen the back of your neck with your hand, then continue to loosen the front part as well.

Next, with both hands placed together, lightly place your thumbs on your chest and bring your index and middle fingers to your chin. Then slightly tilt your head backward.

When the side of your neck is stiff, place your right hand on your head and slowly tilt your head to the right until your ear touches your shoulder.

Do this 3 times alternately, each time for 10-30 seconds.

Besides this, you can also relieve it by massage: place your index and middle fingers on the solar plexus (Tae-yang-hyul) and bring your thumbs to a place behind the ear, about two thumb widths away.

Then slowly knead in a circular motion.

Doing this promotes blood circulation, so it can relieve neck stiffness.
