A celebratory meeting of Russian social organizations on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the motherland was held at the Russian Veterans' League Hall on the 12th.

Personnel from various units including the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK, the Russian Society of Veterans of the Korean War, the Russian Veterans' League, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Academy of Sciences, and members of the DPRK International Solidarity Group participated in the event.

The chairman of the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK stated that the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation is a common holiday not only for the Korean people but also for progressive people worldwide, and mentioned as follows.

Under the leadership of Kim Il Sung, the Korean people who welcomed the day of liberation have since overcome all challenges and trials of history, achieving miraculous development.

The Korean people have shown that only people under the leadership of an outstanding leader can overcome any difficulties and steadfastly advance along the path they have chosen.

Under the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, today the Korean people are achieving miraculous results in various fields, arousing the admiration of the world.

The chairman of the Russian Veterans' League emphasized that August 15, 1945, is a historic day when the Korean people, under the leadership of the great Comrade Kim Il Sung, fought shoulder to shoulder with the soldiers of the Red Army to defeat Japanese imperialism and liberate the country. He stressed that the reason the Korean People's Revolutionary Army could defeat the Japanese invaders, who were armed to the teeth, without a national rear, was due to the excellent military leadership of Comrade Kim Il Sung.

The section chief of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences mentioned that Korea's liberation laid a reliable foundation for the Korean people to successfully push forward with the construction of an independent state and greatly contributed to the security of the Asia-Pacific region. He expressed lofty respect to the great Comrade Kim Il Sung who brought liberation to the Korean people and laid the foundation for prosperity and strength.
