Chairman Kim Jong Un talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping

 

The Supreme Leader of the party, state and armed forces of Korea Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, talked with Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China, on the afternoon of June 20.

Chairman Kim Jong Un, together with his wife Ri Sol Ju, visited the Kumsusan Guesthouse, shared warm greetings with President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan and had a pleasant chat in a cordial family atmosphere before posing for a picture against the background of the flags of the two countries.

And then, talks were held between the top leaders of the DPRK and China.

Present at the talks from the Korean side were Choe Ryong Hae, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and First Vice-Chairman of the State Affairs Commission and President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK; Kim Jae Ryong, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and Member of the State Affairs Commission and Premier of the Cabinet of the DPRK; Ri Yong Ho, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and Member of the State Affairs Commission and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK; Ri Su Yong, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, Member of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and Vice-Chairman of the Party Central Committee; and Kim Su Gil, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, Member of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and Director of the General Political Bureau of the Korean People's Army.

Present there from the Chinese side were Ding Xuexiang, Member of the Political Bureau, Member of the Secretariat and Director of the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China; Yang Jiechi, Member of the Political Bureau and Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China; Wang Yi, State Councilor and Foreign Minister of the People's Republic of China; He Lifeng, Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Director of the State Development and Reform Committee; Song Tao, Head of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China; Zhong Shan, Minister of Commerce of the People's Republic of China; and Miao Hua, Director of the Political Affairs Department of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China.

Chairman Kim Jong Un warmly welcomed President Xi Jinping to the DPRK this year marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the DPRK and China and highly appreciated that the current visit marks a decisive occasion in demonstrating the immutability and invincibility of the DPRK-China friendship all over the world and it is of important significance in further consolidating and developing the friendly relations between the two countries which have entered a new period of vitality.

President Xi Jinping said it is a great pleasure to meet Chairman Kim Jong Un again and expressed thanks to Chairman Kim Jong Un, the leading officials of the party, the government and the armed forces organs of Korea and people of broad stripes in Pyongyang City for their warm reception and enthusiastic welcome.

Chairman Kim Jong Un and President Xi Jinping informed each other of the situations of their countries and of the achievements made in the struggle of the two parties and the two peoples to advance the cause of socialist construction, and expressed full support and solidarity to them.

They stressed that it is a consistent stand of the parties and governments of the two countries to keep strengthening and developing the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation vigorously in keeping with the demand of the times and it accords entirely with the aspirations, desire and fundamental interests of the peoples of the two countries. They proposed good plans to more significantly mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the DPRK and China and exchanged their views.

Both sides also agreed on making active joint efforts to maintain close strategic understanding between the two parties and the two countries of the DPRK and China, deepen mutual understanding and trust, keep the tradition of high-ranking-level visits and intensify exchanges and cooperation in all fields.

The top leaders of the DPRK and China exchanged wide-ranging opinions on important international and regional issues including the situation of the Korean peninsula and appreciated that it is necessary to further develop profound relations between the two parties and the two countries in such serious and complicated international and regional situation as now and it accords with the common interests of the two countries and is favourable for regional peace, stability and development.

The talks proceeded in a comradely, sincere and candid atmosphere and common understanding was made in the issues discussed.
