Holding High a Noble Sense of Mission

The 14th Chongryon Central Mothers Congress is being held regionally. First held in March 1962 as the Central Mothers Congress of Koreans in Japan, this congress—regularly convened since 1988—powerfully demonstrates overseas Korean women’s will to nurture children into fine talents with national spirit.

The Tokyo Local Mothers Congress was held at Tokyo Korean High School on May 10. The Korean Democratic Women’s Union in Japan (Women’s Union) Tokyo Metropolitan Headquarters innovated the congress format beyond convention.

Pre-congress, they thoroughly surveyed all school mother associations locally, listening to mothers’ voices. Based on this, proposals emerged for lectures on mothers’ desired content and methods highlighting each school’s characteristics. Meticulous organization ensued.

Accordingly, the Chongryon Korean University Faculty Dean lectured first. Tokyo Korean High School’s principal then traced the school’s proud history, widely introducing the legitimacy and vitality of national education. Special lectures for mothers with preschool children were also held.

Voices echoed in the hall: "Child education is vital work linking our children’s and compatriot society’s future!" "Let mothers’ warm love open children’s bright paths!" Mothers deeply felt their noble mission and responsibility in protecting national education and maintaining the compatriot society’s national character.

Congress meetings will follow in other regions.

Unforgettable Dear Alma Mater

Marking its 60th founding anniversary, numerous people recently entered the schoolyard of Kyoto Korean No. 2 Primary School. Alumni from the first to 59th graduating class (March this year) and former educators gathered. Joy overflowed as teachers and students, seniors and juniors sat together—all cherishing alma mater in their hearts.

A grand meeting proceeded on the playground renewed with artificial turf. Former members of the vocal and janggo (hourglass drum) clubs—talents blossomed in national education gardens—presented joyous stages. "Memory Match Quiz" revisiting unforgettable 60 years proceeded.

Graduates shoulder-to-shoulder sang school-day songs loudly. Faces beamed with pride in having lived unwavering loyalty to alma mater’s parting pledge.

Gazing warmly at beloved alma mater—unchanged today with reading sounds ringing clearly, as reliable as the motherland’s embrace and Chongryon organization—graduates firmly resolved to glorify this precious patriotic garden forever.

They parted, promising reunion at the 60th-anniversary festival this October, turning back repeatedly to alma mater—symbol of the motherland’s warm bosom and Chongryon’s reliable presence.

Imperialists’ "Aid" Is a Tool for World Domination

The US and Western nations often recite "aid" in international discourse—whether at UN podiums or G7 meetings. Historically, imperialists demanded introducing Western political-economic systems under "aid" and "cooperation" pretexts, feigning sole capacity to assist underdeveloped nations. But such "aid" deepened economic stagnation and subjugation, gravely impacting social stability, facing rejection from many nations.

Imperialists’ "aid" is deceptive, serving as a primary tool for realizing hegemony. Genuine assistance requires no strings attached. Imperialists’ "aid" is wholly otherwise.

Former US President Truman confessed: "The US ‘underdeveloped country development aid plan’ was not for helping other countries but solely for the US." Nixon stated: "Our foreign aid must serve US strategic objectives; not given without returns." Domination and plunder are imperialism’s nature and physiology. Like monopoly capital pursuing profit by any means, imperialists are humanity’s most shameless, tyrannical exploiters/plunderers—their greed limitless. They engage in aggression/war professionally and persistently pursue domination/subjugation policies to reap profit and enrich themselves. Genuine aid is impossible from them.

Imperialists give nothing charitably. Promises always have ulterior motives.

Imperialists’ "aid" maintains and consolidates the US/Western-dominated world order. They openly state: "Aid plays an indispensable role implementing foreign policy, providing opportunities to influence global events."

Through "aid," imperialists grip recipient nations’ economic lifelines, creating dependency for further "aid" while demanding domestic/foreign policies pleasing them. They dictate "aid" usage and later demand political system changes. Some nations face blatant interference: "Implement multi-party systems!" "Adopt market economies!" "Change rulers!" Non-compliance brings "aid" cuts and suffocating economic blockades.

Recently, imperialists’ "aid" conditions specifically include "democratic politics" and "human rights guarantees." In Africa, they pressure regional nations under "democracy and human rights" pretexts. "Aid" provision depends on "democratic politics" advancement. Recently, the US threatened "aid" suspension against South Africa for land reform and restricting anti-government figures—a vivid example.

Imperialists’ "aid" aims clearly: establish Western-dominated order by interfering in underdeveloped and disliked nations’ internal affairs, imposing Western values and political systems to dominate the world.

Imperialists view developing nations solely as commodity markets and raw material sources. They plunder ten, a hundredfold for one given. Uganda’s President stated Western "loans" and "aid packages" are worthless, hindering Uganda and Africa’s development; the Western world sees Africa only as a raw material source. Nigeria’s International Affairs Institute Director’s criticism—"Western nations put $1 in one pocket through ‘aid’ while taking $10 from the other"—reflects this reality.

Imperialists’ "aid" maintains and consolidates military hegemony. Today’s world changed. Emerging powers develop rapidly economically/militarily; power relations transformed. The world moves multipolar. Imperialists’ power policy became obsolete. In changed environments, they obsessively maintain/strengthen military hegemony—expanding military bases and waging proxy wars using "aid" as bait. Hence, "military aid" underpins other "aid," demanding military privileges.

The US establishes military bases in the Middle East and Central Asia under "counter-terrorism military aid." In the Asia-Pacific, it "supports" and rallies followers to expand spheres and pressure adversaries. The US uses nations as aggression shock troops for few dollars. Ukraine and Israel acting as US proxies in Europe/Middle East receiving "military aid" reveal imperialist "aid’s" nature.

The US manipulates war situations by providing "military aid" without direct troop deployment. Imperialists’ "aid" games caused complex, grave international consequences.

Some nations expected well-being from Western "aid." Reality proved tragic. "Aided" nations experienced not economic revival but resource plunder. National economies bankrupted; people’s lives worsened; deep subjugation pits formed. Ethnic/religious conflicts, terror, and revenge cycles caused massive human/material losses. Some nations ruined by escalated conflicts. An African nation even witnessed presidential ouster.

Imperialist "aid’s" reactionary nature and falsehood stand exposed. Accepting imperialist "aid" for immediate gain ruins nations and peoples. History and reality confirm this.

A Crime Against Humanity State Losing Qualification to Discuss Peace and Human Rights

Voting recently occurred on a UN Security Council resolution demanding immediate lifting of all restrictions hindering humanitarian assistance in Gaza and ceasefire implementation. Sponsoring nations stated Gaza’s humanitarian situation is catastrophic, demanding removal of all restrictions obstructing aid delivery to ~2 million Palestinians.

Among 15 permanent and non-permanent Security Council members, only the US opposed, citing unaddressed Israeli demands. Last November, the Biden administration vetoed a similar resolution, claiming ceasefire demands didn’t directly link to Israel’s requirements. This time, it argued the resolution would weaken close ally Israel’s security and "hinder diplomatic efforts to achieve ceasefire."

As foreseen, while Gaza’s horrific scenes pain the world’s eyes, the US shields its henchman—proving itself a crime against humanity state wholly unqualified to discuss world peace, security, and human rights. All Gaza atrocities—blockade, military aggression, Jewish settlement construction, etc.—stem from US political shielding and military support.

Feigning Mideast peace advocacy while inciting Israeli instability for gain, the US uses "self-defense" pretexts to justify inhuman atrocities, vetoing ceasefire resolutions. Providing advanced killing tools to henchmen and inviting war criminals to Congress for applause—all are US deeds. Israeli high officials confess: "Israel cannot wage war without the US."

In February, the US administration announced renewed withdrawal from the UN Human Rights Council, again citing "bias against the US and Israel." This time’s shenanigans follow suit. The international community strongly condemns the US.

The Russian Foreign Ministry denounced Washington’s fault causing ~55,000 Palestinian deaths and 125,000 injuries in Gaza, missing another chance to stop the horrific bloodshed and starvation. Russia’s UN representative stated the vote clearly revealed who truly desires Gaza peace and who continues political deceit.

China’s UN representative condemned the US veto as heartlessly plunging Palestinians into darkness, noting the resolution reflected Gaza residents’ most urgent demands and the international community’s overwhelming voice.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman stated in a declaration that US obstruction proves their complicity in Israeli crimes; decades of Security Council vetoes entrenched Israeli impunity; this nation brazenly ignored international community and West Asia peoples’ demands to end slaughter.

Pakistan’s UN representative lamented the US veto as complicity and a green light for ongoing genocide, noting the Security Council again failed its duty due to one member.

US hegemonic Mideast policies caused the Gaza crisis. Receiving curses and condemnation, the US wields shameless, biased double standards while shielding bloodthirsty henchmen.

Oral Bacteria Potentially Affecting Brain Health

Bacteria in the human mouth may affect not only teeth and gums but also brain health.

Research published by a national university scientists indicated oral bacteria could affect elderly brain function. They studied how oral bacteria regulate cognitive abilities like working memory. A researcher stated: "Our findings show certain bacteria may impair elderly brain health." Conversely, scientists found some bacteria linked to improving memory and attention.

This startling hypothesis isn’t groundless. Many experts today believe harmful oral bacteria cause inflammation, potentially damaging the brain. Periodontitis is acknowledged as one cause of Alzheimer’s disease.

Beneficial oral bacteria can convert nitrate—abundant in plant foods—into nitric oxide. This gaseous messenger participates in signal transmission between neurons and basic neural processes.

The study analyzed oral bacteria from 115 volunteers aged ≥50, some showing mild cognitive impairment. A researcher speculated this correlation might be utilized in routine dental checkups—e.g., identifying dementia clues through oral bacteria characteristics.

Though larger studies must verify these results, researchers acknowledged that dietary changes, probiotic use, and good oral hygiene could help prevent cognitive decline.
