Our Socialist Home Full of Warm Love and Affection

Reflecting on the Images of Beautiful People Met on Reporting Trips This Year

At this moment as the final month of the year flows by, leaving distinct traces that will shine forever in the history of our motherland, we look back with heartfelt warmth on the days gone by, filled with countless stories.

In this meaningful year, we have ceaselessly run on reporting trips to find the heroes of virtue and fine customs who have added beauty to the socialist garden and bloomed in countless numbers on this land. How many unforgettable people have we met on that road, how many beautiful stories that stirred our hearts!

The more we trace back the days and months of this year, in which the beautiful human relations and fine customs of our society, where we share joy and sorrow with common purpose and affection, have solidified further into a social atmosphere and national character, the more we come to understand what makes our socialist home so warm and strong.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said as follows:

"We must fill the entire country with noble and beautiful practices of helping and leading one another, to make our society a harmonious and united great family of single-hearted unity."

Whenever we encountered the deeply moving stories that arrived at our editorial office nearly every day, we could not hold back our heartfelt warmth.

Just looking at the numerous articles published throughout the year under the title "Beautiful Stories Bloomed by the Socialist System," we can clearly see how many beautiful stories of love and affection bloomed this year.

A worker from a factory in Pyongsong City, who was on the brink of death and then stood up again at his workplace thanks to the warm love of his collective and comrades, wrote in a letter:

"The love and affection of grateful people, who consider others' pain as their own and help and care for each other, lifted me up as I wandered on the border between life and death. Our grateful system, our socialist motherland, is the best in the world."

If we were to count all the heartwarming stories full of virtue and affection that bloomed this year, their number would be beyond measure.

In June, the story was told of the orthopedic doctors and nurses of the Railways General Hospital who devoted all their sincerity for a shock brigade member who nearly lost an arm. In September, the story of Ra Song Chol, a worker at the Hwanghae North Provincial Railway Construction Site, and many others who devoted all affection and love to enable a disabled boy he met on the path to the aid site to stride across the land, further enriched the garden of virtue. How many stories were there of an entire collective rising up to offer selfless sincerity for the wedding of an orphaned employee?

In the days we continued our reporting trips across every corner of the country, among the numerous owners of fine customs we met, there is also the elderly Om Kyong Sun, respected by villagers as a patriotic grandmother, from People's Unit 87 in Okjon 1-dong, Pyongsong City.

Whenever her children expressed sincerity for their mother's life and health, she would set it aside separately and then generously offer it to her neighbors, people with physical difficulties, and those facing hardship and toil.

For her, it was not a matter of having anything left over. Nor was it a step taken out of simple sympathy or sentiment.

Because she is an embodiment of the noble collectivist view of life—warmly caring for those who suffer, supporting those in discomfort, and sharing joy and sorrow—she was able to devote such warm sincerity for others.

Truly, wherever we went, whomever we met, we could feel with proud hearts the ethos flowing in our society, the overflowing fragrance of virtue found everywhere.

The stories of donors who voluntarily participated in donation projects for various funds including the Korean Elderly Support Fund, Childcare Fund, Mutual Aid Fund, Education Support Fund, Disabled Persons Support Fund, Korean Sports Support Fund, with pure patriotic hearts; the beautiful sight of heroes and doctors with hair turned white with frost who still remember their teacher from university days to this day, affectionately calling them "our teacher" and upholding sublime moral duty; the stories of officials and grateful neighbors who formed bonds of kinship with families of service personnel in the rear and multi-child families, offering unstinting help; the story of safety personnel from the Haeju City Safety Department who highly displayed revolutionary comradeship for an honored soldier living in Onchon County hundreds of ri away...

Where else but on this land could one experience the reality of ten, a hundred people offering sincerity for one person, of organizations and collectives stepping forward to help, the countless stories born of beautiful people who consider others' misfortune as their own and relieve their pain?

The July 30th issue of Rodong Sinmun carried the story of the communist conduct of teacher Pak Yong Hui from Sariwon City Sangha Senior Middle School, who embraced not one but three disabled students, teaching them speech and calligraphy.

Upon learning this news, countless people sought out Comrade Pak Yong Hui. Parents with disabled children each expressed words of gratitude, saying she had given them the joy of life and dreams for the future. Many people who had never met her face-to-face sent precious medicinal materials and kindly informed her of treatment methods, saying it must be truly hard to raise disabled children while her husband was ill.

Deeply moved by our system that legally guarantees the rights of disabled persons and warmly looks after them, and by the sincere appearance of people pooling their hearts and wisdom for disabled persons, Comrade Pak Yong Hui is now conducting research to perfect methods along with education for the hearing impaired.

Today, wherever you go in any unit across the country, you can hear such beautiful and noble stories of virtue.

In the hearts of our miners, who unstintingly dedicate patriotic sweat and passion in underground workings thousands of feet deep to add light and heat to our dynamically advancing motherland, are also cherished unforgettable days of helping and leading each other, sharing hardships and joys.

A miner from the Chagang Su Youth Shock Brigade of the Inpho Youth Coal Mine, with pride in having sprinted along the single path of innovation throughout the year, said this:

"If there is any secret to innovation in our shock brigade, it is precisely warm affection. That affection nurtured me, a new member, into an innovator like this."

Grateful for the sincerity of the commanders who cared for him, the youngest in the shock brigade, he strove to take on more tasks. The commanders, impressed by such spirit, embraced and guided him even more warmly.

In this beautiful life where everyone cares for each other, giving all love and affection, and willingly takes on double or triple the work, the unity and combat strength of the ranks grew stronger, and eye-catching achievements were made in the drive.

It is not only the Inpho Youth Coal Mine.

Wherever you go among the units that achieved laudable successes in fulfilling tasks in the final year of the five-year plan for national economic development, you can hear deeply moving stories of breaking through difficulties and obstacles, united in one idea and purpose, combining hearts through virtue and affection.

Through the stories of virtue and fine customs that can be heard from anyone, anywhere on this land, we embrace with overflowing hearts the true aspect of our times and the warm public sentiment, where all advance hand in hand toward a brighter tomorrow, full of confidence and optimism.

Thus, this year was an unforgettable time when love and affection flowed more warmly and deeply in the socialist great family that holds high the respected General Secretary as its parent.

Indeed, if we were to weave all the stories of virtue and fine customs that bloomed this year into song, it would become a passionate paean to our-style socialism. If we were to capture that image on a giant canvas, it would depict our beautiful and dazzling socialist home.

In our society where all people across the country live as one family and siblings, filled with love and affection in this garden of virtue, our socialist life will always be vibrant, and the future of my motherland will be endlessly brilliant.

A Joyful Day at a Farmers' Resort

Not long ago, wishing to capture on our pages the image of agricultural workers spending joyful days of farmers' rest, embracing the joy of a good harvest this year, we visited a farmers' resort in Kyonghung County.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said as follows:

"It is the firm will of our Party to enable our agricultural workers, who have suffered more than anyone in the arduous struggle march to defend and advance our-style socialism, to enjoy a happy life to their heart's content in a prosperous and civilized socialist ideal village."

The farmers' resort, located in the township area, was neat and refreshing to behold.

A county official we met on the resort grounds said that the rest period for exemplary agricultural workers from within the county was now in full swing, and guided us to various places within the resort.

Inside the resort, facilities for the vacationers were properly equipped, including bedrooms, a dining hall, and a ping-pong room. In the yard, various sports competitions such as volleyball and longball could be held.

Shortly after, a volleyball game commenced in the resort yard.

The sight of them handling the ball was quite impressive, not falling short of professional players, but the volleyball court was about to burst with vacationers cheering enthusiastically. Since all the vacationers were innovators counted among the best on their farms, their will to win in sports competitions was no small matter, the county official said with a laugh.

At the resort, not only volleyball but also folk games including yut and changgi (Korean chess) were being conducted with great enthusiasm.

The abundant table set in the dining hall was also pleasing to see.

Hearing from an official that meat, eggs, and fruit were guaranteed for the vacationers every day without fail, we deeply felt once again the Party's benevolence bestowed upon agricultural workers.

Leaving the dining hall, we headed to the resort's rooms.

In each neatly arranged room, they were exchanging experiences of achieving high yields. The vacationers each blossomed with talk, boasting of the bumper harvests in their hometowns brought by advanced farming methods.

Soon after, we sat down with them for a conversation.

A high-yield farm worker from Songhang Farm opened up passionately, saying that besides becoming the owner of a new rural house, he was able to spend joyful days of rest at this farmers' resort, embracing the joy of a good harvest, and that the Party's love bestowed upon us agricultural workers knows no end.

His words also held gratitude for our system, saying that when he left for the resort, the entire farm saw him off, and at the resort, every manner of sincerity was being devoted to serving them.

A female farm worker reaffirmed her resolve to repay the Party's benevolence, which even understood the feelings of female farm workers like herself whose hands are never dry from farm work and household chores, and arranged enjoyable rest for them first, with higher grain productivity.

How wonderful was also the story of a farm worker from Taeyang Farm, who in front of his sub-workteam members told of the emotion he received during his rest period and appealed to do even better farming so that next year he would come to the resort not alone but together with his sub-workteam members.

Witnessing the vacationers' joyful day, we thought: As the new era of rural revitalization progresses, the love and benevolence our agricultural workers receive grows day by day, and is not the passion to repay it also burning ever more fiercely?

We departed this place, engraving in our hearts the unanimous resolve of the vacationers that upon returning to their farms after their rest, they would bring about innovation starting from preparations for the new year's farming.

The Pride of a People's Unit

People's Unit 56 in Jangchon-dong, Wonsan City, is widely known as a people's unit that takes the lead in all aspects.

Not long ago, the residents here gathered in one place to better carry out the work of the people's unit. At the meeting, the people's unit head emphasized ways to better carry out the people's unit work, including issues of more diligently tidying and adorning houses and the village, doing collection work well to contribute to the nation's livelihood, along with the issue of doing power-saving work well. The people's unit head specifically informed of various ways to effectively save electricity at home and appealed for everyone to participate in this work as masters. All the residents enthusiastically responded.

Thus, from the next day, all residents of this people's unit rose up as one in the work to more brightly adorn houses and the village, the work of collecting idle materials, and the power-saving work.

This people's unit, which with harmonious and united strength never yields the dynamic forefront, continues today to glorify unchanged the honor of being a July 11 Double Loyalty Red Flag People's Unit.

Territorial Plunder Becoming Naked Behind the Curtain of Ceasefire

Not long ago, the Israeli Army Chief of Staff claimed that the "yellow line" drawn inside the Gaza Strip becomes a new border line. Making rounds to various places in the Gaza Strip, he said the "yellow line" is a frontline defense line and operational activity boundary line, and that the Israeli army will continue to be stationed in the occupied areas.

This is an expression of the criminal design to permanently occupy the Gaza Strip.

The "yellow line" is a line marking part of the Gaza Strip currently occupied by the Israeli army. Since the ceasefire agreement took effect in October, the Israeli army still occupies nearly half the land of the Gaza Strip and brazenly commits acts contrary to the ceasefire agreement.

Israel considers the area inside the "yellow line" as its land, destroying Palestinians' houses inside it, arbitrarily pushing the "yellow line" inward into the Gaza Strip, and indiscriminately slaughtering residents who cross it. Including the brutal killing of a Palestinian girl in Rafah, Gaza Strip, on the 7th for the reason of crossing the "yellow line," the number of Palestinians killed by the Israeli army since the October ceasefire agreement has reached about 370.

Israeli authorities recently decided to build a new city called "Green Rafah" in the southern Gaza Strip, and have revealed their design to completely entrench themselves in that area by mobilizing large-scale engineering units. They have also shown their sinister intention to forcibly expel Gaza Strip residents by making violent remarks that they will open the border passage in only one direction so that Palestinians can leave Gaza but cannot return.

Israel is revealing its features as a territorial plunderer not only in the Gaza Strip but also in Lebanon.

As known, last November Israel concluded a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah, a Lebanese patriotic force organization. However, Israel opened the floodgates of military attack on Lebanon even before the ink of the ceasefire agreement document was dry. Under the pretext of responding to "suspicious persons" violating the ceasefire agreement, or eliminating threats based on detection of "terrorist activity," it has been engrossed in barbaric slaughter atrocities.

It is said that in the little over a year since the ceasefire agreement was achieved, military operations carried out by the Israeli army amount to over 1,200 times, resulting in hundreds being brutally killed.

Just in early November, they began new airstrikes on southern Lebanon, taking dozens of lives, and in mid-November, assassinated a senior official of Hezbollah.

Israel is violating the agreement clause that it should completely withdraw from occupied areas after the ceasefire takes effect, still squatting in 5 areas, clamoring that it will administer those areas. This proves that it intends to use the occupied areas as a stepping stone to realize its ambition for territorial expansion into Lebanon.

The military reckless acts occurring almost daily behind the curtain of ceasefire are an expression of territorial plunder ambition, showing that Israel has not an iota of will for regional stability and peace restoration, and are amplifying the international community's concerns over the fragile ceasefire.

Ceasefire and slaughter can never coexist.

As long as Israel's behavior, frenzied with aggression and territorial plunder, continues to be condoned, peace in the Middle East region can never be expected.

Humanitarian Crisis Worsens Due to Armed Conflict

Recently in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the humanitarian crisis is worsening due to armed conflict.

In South Kivu Province, where fierce fighting is taking place between government forces and anti-government forces, 74 innocent residents lost their lives in one week, and over 200,000 took to the road of refuge.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs disclosed this on the 8th.

The depth of the epicenter was 10 km.

New Type of Tile That Purifies Polluted Air

A certain country has developed a new type of tile that purifies polluted air.

It is said this tile improves air quality by neutralizing smog mixed with nitrogen dioxide emitted by most internal combustion engines.

The tile is coated with titanium dioxide, a photocatalytic substance that can oxidize harmful air pollutants emitted when fossil fuels burn. Titanium dioxide, when exposed to sunlight, generally oxidizes nitrogen dioxide in the air into harmless calcium nitrate.

According to investigations over about a year, tiles covering a house with a site of about 186 square meters oxidize an amount of nitrogen dioxide equivalent to that emitted by one car driving about 16,000 km a year.

This technology has also been used in recent years to produce environment-protecting cement, panels, and paints.

Mushroom Waste That Can Be Usefully Utilized

Mushroom waste is sometimes discarded as waste. However, new research has proven that mushroom waste can be used to raise black soldier fly larvae, which can become fertilizer and livestock feed.

When producing 1 kg of mushrooms, 5 kg of waste is generated. Mushroom waste still contains valuable organic substances, nutrients, and enzymes.

The larvae of the black soldier fly, which have an outstanding ability to decompose organic matter, convert substrates poor in nutrients into protein-rich biomass and nutrient-rich excrement. These can be used as livestock feed and biofertilizer, respectively.

Researchers mixed three types of mushroom waste—namely, oyster mushroom, shiitake mushroom, and button mushroom waste—with vegetable matter in different ratios and then fermented them.

Black soldier fly larvae fed a mixture containing 15% mushroom waste grew at a rate comparable to the control group fed only vegetable matter. When fed a mixture with the mushroom waste content increased to 30%, the mass of larvae and pupae decreased. This suggests that increasing the content eliminates the effect.

Black soldier fly larvae grew well on all types of mushroom waste, with a survival rate of 99%, higher than the control group fed only vegetable matter (91.4%).

The research results suggest that mushroom waste becomes an inexpensive substrate that can be used to raise black soldier fly larvae while conforming to the principles of a circular economy.
