DPRK Premier Inspects Several Sectors of National Economy

Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected several sectors of the national economy.

Going round the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex and the Chollima Steel Complex, Kim Tok Hun called upon officials, technicians and workers to boost the production of iron and steel necessary for the building of 10 000 flats in Pyongyang City and railway modernization, always bearing in mind the trust and expectations of the Party which put forward the metallurgical industry as the leading industry of the country.

He called for carrying out without fail the national economic plan for this year, which is of key importance in implementing the decisions of the 8th Congress of the Party, by further increasing production, while directing efforts to technically updating of the existing production processes, expanding the production capacity and reducing material consumption. He also urged the relevant fields to take proper measures for the supply of raw and other materials.

At the Taean Heavy Machine Complex, he took measures to speed up the production of custom-built equipment urgently needed in different fields of the national economy by working out a scientific and feasible management and business strategy and enhancing the responsibility and role of technicians and skilled workers, true to the idea and spirit of the Party Congress.

At the production sites of the Yongyu Mine and the Jungsan Mine, he stressed the need to properly choose mining fields, increase the mineral production and steadily increase the rate of actual extraction from concentrates by further perfecting the flotation process in a sci-tech manner.

The field consultative meetings called upon officials to thoroughly carry out the first-year tasks of the new five-year plan as scheduled by scrupulously organizing the economic operation and command. Sci-tech issues arising in boosting production on the principle of using locally available raw and other materials were also discussed.

The premier also acquainted himself with the work of the Taean Friendship Glass Factory and several farms in Phyongwon County and Taedong County and discussed the measures for resolving their urgent problems.
