Grand Celebration Meeting Held to Mark 80th Anniversary of National Liberation The entire people of Korea, who are vigorously advancing along the path of independence, self-sustenance, and self-defense, opening up the great new era of comprehensive national rejuvenation under the leadership of the ever-victorious Workers' Party of Korea, celebrated the 80th anniversary of national liberation as a great revolutionary festival with immense pride and self-respect. The meeting to celebrate the 80th anniversary of national liberation took place in Pyongyang, the capital, on August 14. The Arch of Triumph Square, embodying the excitement and joy of the people, masters of new Korea, and sacredly welcoming the immortal revolutionary exploits and miraculous decades spanning 80 years since the founding of the nation and the defense of national sovereignty, was pulsating with the people's jubilation. This jubilation upholds the nation's solid existence and vigorous development, treasuring the great revolutionary tradition forged in the flames of anti-Japanese struggle, and demonstrates the dignity and prestige of the powerful nation to the entire world. The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, attended the celebration meeting. Amid the playing of the welcome music, as the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un arrived at the venue of the meeting, celebratory fireworks exploded and countless balloons soared into the air, beautifully adorning the meaningful August sky. All participants erupted in stormy cheers of "Long Live!" as they looked up to the outstanding leader of the Juche revolution, who has elevated our socialist state to the status of the most powerful and dignified nation at the pinnacle of the century and is unwaveringly leading the historic cause for the people's ideal to the path of brilliant victory and glory. Students and youth respectfully presented fragrant bouquets to Comrade Kim Jong Un, conveying the unanimous hearts of the entire people of the nation. Students and youth presented bouquets to leading officials of the Party, government, and armed forces organs, and to Comrade Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the Russian Federation State Duma. Participating in the celebration meeting were members of the Party Central leading organs, officials of provincial and central institutions, descendants of anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters, officials, workers, youth and students in the capital, service personnel of the Korean People's Army, and faculty and students of revolutionary schools, including socialist patriotic meritorious persons. Invited were members of the delegation of the State Duma of the Russian Federation and the cultural delegation visiting our country to congratulate on the 80th anniversary of national liberation, as well as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to our country and embassy staff. Overseas compatriots staying in the socialist fatherland participated, including the Mt Paektu Area Revolutionary Site Study Tour Group of the General Association of Koreans in China. The national anthem of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was solemnly played. A 21-gun salute was fired. Comrade Choe Ryong Hae, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, First Vice President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly, made a celebratory speech. The speaker stated that today we are greeting the 80th anniversary of national liberation, the precious first victory in the glorious history of the Korean revolution spanning a century and an epoch-making event in the 5,000-year history of our nation. He paid the highest tribute and eternal glory to the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung, who called upon the people suffering the shame and misfortune of a ruined nation to rise up in the anti-Japanese struggle for national salvation, ended Japanese colonial rule, and accomplished the century-long feat of restoring national sovereignty. He said that the over 40-year-long struggle of our people for the independence of their homeland teaches the truth that a country and people without strength and without correct leadership cannot escape the humiliation of national ruin, and that only through the powerful independent strength of the people themselves, firmly united around the great leader, can lost dignity be regained and safeguarded. Emphasizing that our state today, under the wise leadership of the great Comrade Kim Jong Un, is demonstrating to the world a new aspect of a grand advance to further enhance its overall national strength, he stressed that because we have a great people and a superior political system embodying the people-first principle, and because we possess the strength of unity in patriotism, the dynamic prosperity of our state will continue, and the communism envisioned by the revolutionary forerunners will unfold as a reality on this land. He mentioned the sublime internationalist spirit and meritorious service of the Soviet army soldiers who fought shoulder to shoulder with our revolutionary army for the liberation of Korea. He stated that the unity and friendship cemented by blood in the struggle for the common cause are being highly manifested and sublimated into a powerful allied relationship on the 21st-century battlefield to smash the imperialists' arbitrary high-handedness and aggressive maneuvers, serving as clear proof of the eternal vitality of Korea-Russia friendship. Comrade Choe Ryong Hae said that the revolutionary forerunners, who bequeathed to us a spiritual heritage enabling us to rise in any adversity and laid the groundwork for the path to constant victory, continuously inspire us and propel us towards unceasing advance. He emphasized that all should fight vigorously for the eternal prosperity and might of the fatherland, firmly united by the great patriotic ideal and our principle of placing the state above all. Following this, Comrade Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, made a speech. He expressed his pleasure at participating in the grand celebration meeting and read aloud the congratulatory letter sent to Comrade Kim Jong Un, president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, by Comrade Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, President of the Russian Federation, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation. He expressed the will to value Korea-Russia friendly relations, thoroughly implement all provisions of the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Russian Federation and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and strive for the development of relations between the two countries, wishing only prosperity and happiness for the Korean people in their path ahead. The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un made a significant speech on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of national liberation. Comrade Kim Jong Un said that today, a day of celebration that lifts high the sacred course of our state's birth and development, serves as an illumination by the times and a proud summation of how the history of new Korea, traversing 80 long years along with the immortal spirit that brought about a change in the people's destiny and the decades-long arduous struggle history, could position itself at the zenith of dignity and honor. He spoke about the revolutionary character and political significance of the national liberation cause through which our people regained their independent dignity. Comrade Kim Jong Un mentioned his boundless respect for the great people who possess the noble outlook on life, regarding a life devoted to the victory and glory of their homeland as the most valuable and happy life. He emphasized that such a just, strong-willed, and self-respecting people cannot be broken by anyone, and that a state built and upheld by such patriotic and self-respecting people will forever be powerful and immortal. Comrade Kim Jong Un stated that the great history of the dignity and glory of the Korean people will shine forever through all generations for a thousand and ten thousand years. He passionately appealed to continue overcoming the challenges before us without hesitation, for the sake of the great powerful nation, and for the eternal well-being and prosperity of our beloved state, which will shine brilliantly for our descendants through all ages. As Comrade Kim Jong Un concluded his speech, the unwavering will of all participants to endlessly love and uphold the fatherland that gives them true life and happiness and to be infinitely faithful to the historical mission and duty of their own era and generation erupted in enthusiastic cheers, echoing endlessly into the celebratory night sky. The celebration meeting concluded with the playing of "The Internationale." The 80th National Liberation Anniversary Celebration Meeting became a significant occasion that powerfully demonstrated the unyielding faith and will of our people, who, under the leadership of the great Comrade Kim Jong Un, will surely achieve the ultimate victory of the Juche revolutionary cause pioneered on Mt Paektu by further multiplying a hundredfold the traditions of loyalty and patriotism, the indomitable pioneering spirit, and the heroic mettle that have upheld the sacred history of our state as decades of proud victory and miracle. Eighty years ago, units of the Red Army and detachments of Korean patriots annihilated the Kwantung Army and ended Japanese colonial rule in Korea. Importantly, the fighting friendship and amity, and the tradition of mutual assistance, solidified during the distant days of the war, remain firm and reliable today. The heroic participation of Korean soldiers in liberating Kursk region territory from the Ukrainian occupiers fully confirmed this. The Russian people will forever cherish the memory of their courage and self-sacrifice. I am confident that the thorough implementation of the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership signed in Pyongyang last year will continue to drive the strengthening of mutually beneficial Korea-Russia cooperation in all fields.
