Art Performance Celebrating 80th Anniversary of National Liberation Successfully Held An art performance celebrating the 80th anniversary of national liberation was held at the Arch of Triumph Square on August 14, adding to the joy and fervor of the grand political festival gloriously commemorating this significant holiday rooted in 80 years of a powerful self-reliant nation, where all victories and glories of socialist Korea originate. The historic foot of Moran Hill, which still vividly echoes the cheers of new Korea that erupted in reverence toward the savior of liberation—the peerlessly great man first welcomed in the 5,000-year history—even as the liberation year marks its 80th revolution in the flow of time, trembled with the immense pride and honor of participants proudly embracing the history of building a prosperous and powerful motherland over 80 years. The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un watched the performance. When Kim Jong Un appeared at the viewing stand alongside Comrade Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, storm-like cheers erupted. The performance was attended by members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea; leading officials of the Party, government, and armed forces organs; provincial Party secretaries; children of anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters; officials from ministries, central institutions, and Pyongyang City; merited persons; service personnel of the Korean People’s Army; students of revolutionary schools; Pyongyang citizens; and youth and students. Members of the delegation of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, members of the cultural delegation, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Korea, and embassy staff also watched together. Overseas compatriots visiting the socialist motherland for the 80th anniversary of national liberation shared the occasion. The celebration performance opened splendidly with a group parachute stunt by airborne landing combatants. Airborne landing combatants freely descending from 4,500 meters above skillfully unfolded their parachutes and performed high-difficulty stunts, crisscrossing the night sky like dazzling floral tributes to the glorious history of the motherland. As the flag of the Republic fluttered by the airborne soldiers—depicting the proud years of charging toward the pinnacle of a powerful nation by courageously overcoming countless unheard-of trials and challenges—the participants’ reverence toward the sacred national flag erupted in thunderous applause and cheers. The performance stage featured diverse numbers, including leader-praising hymns sung by the entire people, revolutionary songs, and famous melodies themed on patriotism. Revolutionary songs and melodies from the anti-Japanese war resounded on the stage flowing with solemn memories, portraying the heroic images of anti-Japanese forerunners engraved on the first page of Korea’s revolutionary history. The audience responded passionately with applause to the famous songs overflowing with intense aspirations to add only absolute dignity and glory to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea with its mighty power proudly demonstrated over 80 years—years that nurtured without wavering the dignity and honor of the motherland, more precious than life itself, in accordance with the lifelong wishes of the revolutionary forerunners, even as the historic August 15 recedes into the distant past with the passage of time. A medley of Russian songs specially prepared for the envoys of friendship colorfully adorned the performance stage. The medley reflecting the courage, tenacity, ardent patriotism, and optimism of the Russian army and people fighting for their country’s sovereignty, dignity, planetary peace, and security won the audience’s enthusiastic acclaim. The performance, brimming with the spirit of friendly unity deepening further on the path to realizing shared objectives for building a thriving and powerful nation, concluded with the Russian national anthem. As the performance ended, fireworks splendidly decorated the night sky and cascaded down. The celebration performance for the 80th anniversary of national liberation—which loftily praised the pride and self-esteem in the heroic course of Juche Korea pioneered and victoriously advanced with the spirit and mettle of Paektu, and the firm conviction and dauntless courage to ceaselessly write the chronicle of a great powerful nation with patriotic loyalty blazing like flames and an indomitable will—left a deep impression on the audience.
