Let Us Learn from Loyal Officials Who Live Forever in Our Party’s Embrace Even Amidst Life’s Complexities, Right and Wrong Become Clear When Measured by the Leader’s Ideology and Intention Reflections on the Noble Life of True Loyalist Hyon Chol Hae Through a Book The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un stated:
On May 18 last year, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the gravesite of Comrade Hyon Chol Hae—a prominent military-political activist of our state—again on the third anniversary of his passing. That day, recalling the true loyalist’s life, he warmly said he remains a model military-political official with strong principle, outstanding political ability, and organizational skill, remembered by all as the portrait of a genuine person—always unassuming, without pretense, steadfast, and upright. Recently, the biographical novel "Marshal Hyon Chol Hae" (Vol. 1)—avidly read among officials, Party members, and workers—contains impressive passages about the most prominent trait of Comrade Hyon Chol Hae’s loyalty as evaluated by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un: clear and steadfast fidelity. What, then, constituted the revolutionary principle at the core of his exceptional loyalty—knowing only the leader? Stories about the revolutionary principle he displayed while working in the General Political Bureau in the 1960s—struggling to establish the Great Leader President’s monolithic military leadership system in the People’s Army—serve as precious practical textbooks for our people and People’s Army soldiers who must carry the revolutionary cause pioneered at Paektu to completion across generations. As narrated in the biographical novel, when Comrade Hyon Chol Hae began work in the People’s Army General Political Bureau, it was a period when many complex problems arose due to warlord bureaucratists entrenched in the military’s key posts promoting "de-ideologization" and "de-politicization" while committing all manner of misdeeds. These individuals brazenly obstructed the vigorous development of the Red Flag Company Movement personally initiated by the Great Leader President and created confusion in military recruitment. Moreover, they nitpicked officials loyal to the Party, scheming to shake the revolution’s pillars. One day, reporting to the Great Leader General, Comrade Hyon Chol Hae candidly shared difficulties encountered due to arbitrary practices and bureaucratism among some military commanders. That day, the Great Leader General gave precious teachings, including paying deep attention to enhancing functions and roles of political departments at all levels in the General Political Bureau. Later, he told him: "For us, the sole measure of all thought and action’s rightness is the leader’s ideology and intention." Receiving these earnest teachings became a decisive turning point in Hyon Chol Hae’s life. Hence, in struggles against warlord bureaucratists, whenever confronting difficult and complex problems, he recalled the image of the Great Leader General—whom he longed to see even in dreams—reflecting on his precious teachings. (Didn’t I learn from his side how to hold all thoughts correctly? With such tenacious conviction deeply rooted in his heart, Hyon Chol Hae could uncompromisingly oppose warlord bureaucratists when they conspired overtly and covertly to undermine the leader’s authority, slander Party policy, and incapacitate political organizations within the military. By systematically, comprehensively, and scientifically analyzing evidence of their crimes and reporting accurately and timely to the Party, he greatly contributed to decisively suppressing and crushing their sinister schemes and crimes, preserving the revolutionary military’s purity. The book vividly unfolding Comrade Hyon Chol Hae’s life journey alongside the arduous historical path of the Korean revolution compels readers to measure their convictions against such situations. Could I be as clear-sighted as Hyon Chol Hae in such times and circumstances? Beneath Hyon Chol Hae’s strong principle—who safeguarded our military’s lifeline, achieving immortal feats shining in history—glitters not clamorous philosophical theory but a clear life truth easily understood by all: Even amidst life’s complexities, right and wrong become clear when measured by the leader’s ideology and intention! The absolute criterion enabling all his thought and action to remain unequivocal and resolute amidst even the gravest, most complex problems stemmed from his embodiment of revolutionary principle—steadfast in defending and upholding the leader’s intention, unwavering by any alien ideology. A warrior filled with the leader’s ideology at all times and places, he became an official with revolutionary principle ingrained in his very being. One who always burns with the leader’s ideology and embraces the leader’s intention with their whole soul possesses sharp political insight that never blurs or fades—even facing the guillotine or a sword at their neck. This criterion is the law precisely separating loyalist from traitor, loyalty from betrayal. That simple, clear ruler elevated Hyon Chol Hae’s life to the highest podium of honor, shining forever. The Korean revolution—a pioneering path demanding agonizing will at life-and-death crossroads with each step, traversed only by death-defying resolve at every turn—is an undertaking unparalleled worldwide in complexity and arduousness. Yet our revolution has only raced along the path of victory and glory without a single failure or setback. This is precisely because we have upheld the Great Leader of the revolution, and because countless true loyalists like Hyon Chol Hae and excellent people have thoroughly internalized and made the leader’s ideology and intention their worldview—preserving it as jewel-like conviction in any environment. The female Party member at Rakwon who said: "Supreme Commander! Please don’t worry. If we fight and win, reconstruction is no problem!"; Grandmother Taesong who reported: "We support the Premier!"; the Kangson working class who roared: "Send the factionalists to us—we’ll throw them into the furnace!"; creators of the revolutionary soldier spirit who erected ramparts of conviction, shouting: "Let us not see our motherland’s blue sky until fulfilling the respected Supreme Commander’s order!"; and the Jagang people who rushed to factories and rice fields singing: "Though the path is rugged, let’s go laughing!"... All those whom our generation highly remembers as loyalists of previous generations firmly grasped the leader’s ideology and intention as the sole guideline for thought and invariable ruler for action—measuring all things thereby and practicing accordingly. Without a moment’s hesitation, they waged uncompromising, steadfast struggle against anything diverging from it. Though their appearance was ordinary and voices simple, the Great Leader President and Great Leader General rather drew incomparable strength from their sincerity, guiding our revolution only to victory. What filled the loyalists’ hearts cherished by our Party was singular: absolute conviction that our leader, our Party, our ideology are foremost, and acting according to the leader’s ideology and intention is the right path. Precisely because such absolute conviction and principle have been solidly inherited as tradition through our revolution’s entire history, our Party could found the nation, win the war, give birth to Chollima, crush all imperialist suppression storms, and inscribe the proud history of the longest-ruling socialist party amidst such difficult, complex subjective/objective conditions and environments. Through a blood-stained revolutionary war against two imperialist powers, two reconstructions, two stages of social revolution, and multiple stages of socialist construction—traversing the complex revolutionary path—our people firmly hold this truth: the leader’s ideology and intention are the sole criterion and ruler for all thought and action. Today, this truth is sublimated into tenacious conviction that the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un’s ideology is absolute science and the unique, all-powerful weapon achieving only victory amidst global political whirlpools. Though obstacles still loom on our revolution’s path, through miraculous transformation scenes in rapidly changing local and rural areas under the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un’s wise leadership; in children’s bright smiles daily receiving dairy products and students’ beaming faces heading to school in new uniforms with "Songsan" backpacks; in workers’ happiness-filled expressions receiving new homes—our people more firmly engrave the greatness, vitality, scientific nature, and truth of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un’s revolutionary ideology and WPK policies. As the revolution advances, we must tenaciously engrave the conviction to know only our leader, and think and act solely according to the leader’s ideology and intention. Superficial Guidance Is Utterly Harmful The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un stated:
Officials’ revolutionary work style and manner greatly influence their sector/unit’s advancement pace. This is because success in all work crucially relates to officials’ leadership methods. Today, many officials correctly orient unit work along Party policy lines, find solutions to problems based on correct mass mobilization methodology and skill, and deepen guidance through active assistance. However, some officials superficially treat guidance as a formality or quota-filling, making irrelevant remarks disconnected from reality and popular sentiment. Particularly, treating the guidance process as a space to assert "authority" or feign work dampens producer masses’ zeal. Such superficial guidance—offering no help to unit work but acting as a brake—is utterly harmful. Officials’ guidance directly links to Party policy implementation. Superficial guidance—approaching lower units like guests without clever methodology—will never achieve unit work results, creating vacuums in Party policy implementation. Causes of superficial guidance lie nowhere else. Lack of responsibility sense is crucial. As the Party’s core and revolution’s command personnel, officials’ responsibility is never light. Officials lacking responsibility sense approach problems indifferently; from them, no clever schemes for Party policy implementation emerge, nor leadership ability mobilizing masses.
