State Commendation Ceremony for Veterans of the Korean People's Army Overseas Operation Unit Held

The entire people of the country extend endless praise and sublime respect to the soldiers of the Korean People's Army (KPA) Overseas Operation Unit, who staked the honor of our glorious country, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), displayed an unparalleled combat spirit and bravery and an indomitable spirit of sacrifice, and demonstrated the might of the elite revolutionary powerful army to the whole world.

The second state commendation ceremony for veterans of the KPA Overseas Operation Unit was held on the 29th.

The families of the martyrs who performed outstanding feats in overseas military operations and met a heroic end participated in the ceremony.

Comrade Pak Jong Chon, Vice-Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and Secretary of the WPK Central Committee, made a speech.

He said that a meeting is being held today at the WPK Central Committee Office to confer the title of Republic Hero upon the families of the martyrs on behalf of the commanders and soldiers of the Overseas Operation Unit, who demonstrated the absolute prestige of our great country and the might of the ever-victorious KPA to the whole world and inscribed a new record of victory in the heroic struggle history of our people with their blood.

He mentioned that carrying out the orders of the Party and the country to the end even at the cost of one's life is a solemn vow kept in the heart of every soldier and it is the duty of a soldier to be infinitely loyal before that pledge of faith, but Kim Jong Un said that each and every one of our soldiers is a precious being that cannot be exchanged for anything in this world, his own flesh and blood that must not be lost, and that from the day the Overseas Operation Unit was dispatched, he could not set aside his heavy worry for a single day and spent his days and months with endless love for the soldiers.

He said that upheld by the infinite painstaking efforts of Kim Jong Un, who devoted his days and nights to ensuring the heroic martyrs are embraced by the bosom of the country in the most pious and sacred manner and bestowed the highest glory upon their immortal lives and spirits, the martyrs were reunited fervently with the Korean people and their beloved families in the most proud and honorable appearance, covered with the glorious national flag, and had their names and images glorified to the highest degree alongside the memorial wall, unprecedented in history, erected at the compound of the WPK Central Committee Headquarters.

He stressed that the Gold Star Medal of the Hero, received on behalf of their beloved children, husbands, and fathers, is an expression of the consistent respect and high appraisal of the Party, state, and people for the martyrs, who dedicated their precious lives and youth to glorify the dignity of the country, and their families.

The Decree of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK on conferring the title of DPRK Hero upon the soldiers who performed feats in overseas military operations was conveyed.

The title of DPRK Hero, along with the Gold Star Medal and the Order of the National Flag First Class, was bestowed upon the families.

In the bosom of the great Mother Party, which places its commendable sons, who dedicated their precious lives to the path of our country's prosperity and the happiness of all future generations, on the pedestal of respect and honor, the lives of the martyrs will be eternal and immortal.
