2024 Top Ten Best Enterprises Selected

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said as follows:

"All sectors and units of the people's economy must improve business management and enterprise management under the viewpoint that saving is both increased production and patriotism, so as to save as much as possible labor, energy, materials, sites, etc., and gain maximum benefit, thereby making a tangible contribution to the development of the national economy and the improvement of the people's living standards."

Under the leadership of the great Party Central Committee, the phase of national revival is being sublimated into a great leap forward expansion, and many sectors and units of the people's economy are continuously improving production and business activities, achieving clear progress.

Not long ago, the Taean Heavy Machine Complex, the Sangwon Cement Complex's Samchong Mine, the Pyongyang 326 General Wire Factory, the Tanchon Smeltery, the Rason Hwasong General Development Enterprise, the Kangso Sprayer Factory, the Pyongyang Socks Factory, the Phyongsong Bag Factory, the Huichon Textile Mill, and the Ryongchon Mine under the Tanchon Regional Mining General Bureau were selected as the 2024 Top Ten Best Enterprises, having overfulfilled the people's economic plan entrusted by the Party while raising per-capita production output and average labor wages to a high level.

The selection of the Top Ten Best Enterprises is heightening the spirit of competition among enterprises. Many units are focusing efforts on raising per-capita production output, monthly average labor wage performance, modernization level, product quality, and meeting national environmental protection standards. Amid this, ten excellent units were selected as the best enterprises from among about 40 enterprises recommended by provinces, central institutions, and city people's committees.

The Tanchon Smeltery has held the honor of being a Top Ten Best Enterprise for three consecutive years. The officials and working class of the Tanchon Smeltery, who have raised the fulfillment rate of production indices by over 2% and perfectly carried out without fail all major policy tasks set by the Party, such as equipment production for local industry factories and construction of living quarters in the Komdok area, are now filled with great pride and self-confidence in holding the honor of a Top Ten Best Enterprise once again.

The Taean Heavy Machine Complex and the Rason Hwasong General Development Enterprise have also entered the ranks of the Top Ten Best Enterprises for the second time.

The Taean Heavy Machine Complex placed its business activities on a more scientific basis, smoothly ensuring the production of many large equipment items needed for key sectors of the people's economy, including the metal, chemical, and coal industries, and for newly emerging local industry factories.

The Rason Hwasong General Development Enterprise strategically conducted its business activities in line with the characteristics of the unit, entering the ranks of the 2024 Top Ten Best Enterprises.

The Pyongyang 326 General Wire Factory modernized over ten production processes, smoothly ensuring the production of insulated wires and power cables needed for major construction projects, while the Samchong Mine of the Sangwon Cement Complex achieved results by raising production capacity to 2.8 times that of the operational period.

Let Us Continuously Create and Widely Propagate New Technologies

As the struggle for increased production and the economy drive intensifies throughout the economy, one issue becomes increasingly important: continuously creating and widely propagating new technologies.

If the reserve for increased production lies in mobilizing the spiritual strength of the masses, then the results of the struggle for increased production and economy are guaranteed by the power of science and technology.

It is precisely by grasping science and technology, continuously creating new technologies that push forward the growth and development of one's own sector and field, and actively sharing them, that we have a sure way to successfully wage the struggle for increased production and economy.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said as follows:

"We must set high new technology development goals, concentrate forces on research into core technologies with great practical and economic significance to secure the driving force for economic growth, and take institutional measures so that scientific research institutions and enterprises closely cooperate to propel production and technological development and increase intellectual creativity."

Who can create and propagate more new technologies, faster?

In today's era of science and technology, this is an important measure for evaluating the speed and prospects of development of a given sector and unit.

When all officials grasp the creation and propagation of new technologies as a firm method for guaranteeing the results of the struggle for increased production and economy, the flames of productive upsurge will burn fiercely at every point of carrying out Party decisions, and our advance will be further accelerated.

Above all, it is important to set high new technology development goals.

Of course, conquering high goals in science and technology is not as easy as saying it. The path of new technology development is by no means a smooth highway, nor is it something that can be started today and finished tomorrow. However, if we do not boldly and actively develop this undertaking, we cannot achieve continuous development while competing with the world.

Officials themselves must boldly design and revolutionarily develop new technology development projects for the fundamental change and leap-forward development of their own sectors and units under grand goals. From the planning stage, they must break free from formulaic and rigid approaches, constantly aim for new things, and operate prospectively based on in-depth study of scientific and technological development trends. What should be particularly emphasized is giving primary importance to solving problems encountered in reality, the most urgent technical problems.

The creation, introduction, and propagation of new technologies are difficult to achieve with the strength of only certain people. Only when the entire masses rise up with a vital interest in the creation and propagation of new technologies can due results be achieved.

Officials must provide sufficient conditions for workers to actively put forward valuable ideas and technological innovation proposals that contribute to their own sector and unit. They must actively explore and apply methodologies to enhance the effectiveness of competition, and solidly establish summary and evaluation work to heighten the atmosphere of technological innovation competition.

It is also important to strengthen inter-sectoral and inter-unit connections and cooperation.

The respected Comrade the General Secretary taught that we must eliminate the phenomenon of organs and enterprises putting up fences and practicing departmentalism, and actively promote scientific and technological information exchange among related units so that all sectors and units develop together.

The more the valuable experience and new technologies created in one unit are extensively introduced into other units and develop into more excellent experience and advanced technology, and the more such a process continues to amplify, the faster the entire economy will develop.

Officials must keep this in mind and also pay due attention to sharing and transferring new technologies created in their own sectors and units. They must fully prepare conditions, environment, and space for widely propagating new technologies, such as experience discussion meetings and technical practice training sessions, and at the same time wage a strong struggle against phenomena that hinder the joint development of science and technology, such as practicing departmentalism.

Along with this, we must not miss the issue of taking institutional measures so that scientific research institutions and enterprises closely cooperate in continuously creating and widely propagating new technologies, to propel production and technological development and increase intellectual creativity.

All sectors and units must actively contribute to national economic development and the improvement of the people's living standards by continuously creating and widely propagating new technologies.

The Key Is Mobilizing the Creative Power of the Masses

At the Namdok Youth Coal Mine

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said as follows:

"Officials must work with a creative and enterprising work style and a new look."

In coal mines, advancing excavation to fully secure reserve coal faces is a basic link for normalizing production at a high level. Then, what is the method for this?

From this viewpoint, the experience of the Namdok Youth Coal Mine is suggestive.

From the beginning of this year, the Namdok Youth Coal Mine has put great effort into fully preparing reserve coal faces. Especially under conditions where they have steadily pushed basic excavation in a planned manner in recent years and achieved a series of results, they focused on increasing the speed of preparatory excavation.

In fact, in the past, when this problem was raised in the coal mine, they sought methods by reinforcing excavation manpower. However, under conditions where the plan per indicator was higher than last year and labor was tight, this did not become a method for hastening preparatory excavation.

The responsible official of the coal mine, seeking a solution, went into the excavation face one day and discussed the importance of increasing reserve coal faces with miners. In the process, he turned his attention to the miners' idea of reducing the number of drill holes to save blasting materials while increasing excavation speed.

If their opinion was followed, they could gain not only blasting materials but also considerable time, increasing the advance per cycle.

Afterwards, the mine officials, including the chief engineer, went into the excavation face of the Kim Hyok Youth Shock Brigade with technicians.

They analyzed the rock joints, shape, and hardness on-site and embarked on tests to reduce the number of drill holes while guaranteeing blasting efficiency as before.

The work was difficult from the start. Sometimes less rock fell than with the conventional method, and unexpected phenomena also appeared.

As failures repeated and days passed, a sense of hopelessness appeared among some officials, technicians, and shock brigade members.

However, the mine officials, including the manager and primary Party secretary, did not lose信心 (confidence), gave precedence to political work, and actively pushed the technicians and shock brigade members forward.

In the process, they finally completed a method that could guarantee blasting efficiency while reducing the number of drill holes by 5-8 compared to before.

As a result of comprehensively adopting this method in excavation units, clear progress was achieved in preparing reserve coal faces.

Not satisfied with this, the mine actively introduced newly modified inertial loaders into every face, drastically reducing overhead mining and raising the proportion of horizontal mining.

As a result, the coal extraction rate per coal face rose by almost 10%, and the number of reserve coal faces increased.

In fact, if the mine officials had tried to increase the number of reserve coal faces by increasing excavation manpower as in the past period, they would not have seen due results.

The work experience of the Namdok Youth Coal Mine officials shows that the more difficult the conditions, the more the secret to successfully solving any problem lies in going among the masses and actively arousing their creative initiative.

Enhancing Production Capacity of the Dyeing Process

The Sariwon Knitwear Factory has raised production capacity significantly by pushing the technical modernization of the dyeing process.

The dyeing machines used in the factory in the past had shortcomings, resulting not only in long dyeing times but also in low dyeing quality.

Whether to realize diversification and variety of products or to find reserves for increased production, it was decisive to modernize the dyeing process.

The factory officials set the goal of carrying out this project with their own strength and aroused technicians and skilled workers to its implementation.

The April 15 Technical Innovation Shock Brigade members, skilled workers of the dyeing workteam and the maintenance workteam solved technical problems arising in the modernization of the dyeing process, enabling smooth equipment operation and improvement of product quality.

Amid the fiercely burning flames of the mass technological innovation movement, the technicians and skilled workers achieved results by producing two high-performance dyeing machines in three months. As a result, dyeing capacity was increased by 1.4 times compared to before.

Stories Told by the Masters of Scientific Farming

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said as follows:

"The present era is the era of scientific farming, and agricultural production is guaranteed not by natural climatic conditions but by agricultural science and technology."

At Workteam No. 2 of the Tokjang Farm in Jongju City, which introduced an electric impulse water treatment device, they achieved increased yields of over 1 ton per jongbo of paddy rice and over 1.5 tons of maize over the past two years. Even this year, despite unfavorable weather conditions, they harvested over 1 ton more per jongbo of grain than before, and the current growth state of rice and maize is also good.

Not long ago, when we visited this workteam, we heard truly impressive stories from primary officials and farm members.

"Before, we thought there was nothing more important than diligent hands for farming well."

Workteam Leader Kim Myong Nam, whom we met in the workteam yard, began like this.

Frankly, when they first learned about this device, the farm members did not actively engage in the introduction project, wondering what help such a small device could give to farming.

So the workteam selected plots using water treated by this device and plots using natural water, as recommended by researchers.

Eventually, they could directly observe the growth state of the crops throughout the entire period, and the results were such that everyone who saw them doubted their eyes.

In the case of paddy rice, the growth period was advanced by about a week, and the number of ears per plant increased significantly. Also, using sterilized and disinfected water, diseases and pests almost disappeared. Particularly, in the maize plot irrigated with water treated by electric impulse, maize borers did not occur at all.

Through the process of introducing new agricultural sci-tech products, the farm members found a lesson: the power of science replaces the diligent hands of ten, a hundred people.

We could also meet Workteam Technician Ri Chol Myong in the plot.

He told us this story, saying that while he had steadily carried out agricultural sci-tech dissemination work, believing that actively adopting advanced farming methods and techniques held an important key to high yields, it was by no means easy to completely uproot empiricism from the farm members' minds.

With the introduction of the electric impulse water treatment device, the paddy rice test plot created in the workteam became the primary concern of the farm members.

As farm members entering the test plot to count the number of ears and grains per ear, and secretly comparing them with their own plots, increased one by one, the newly adopted agricultural sci-tech product became a topic of conversation for everyone, in the way that this aspect is good, that aspect is good.

Seeing the excellent rice crop condition, which was unimaginable in the past period, with their own eyes, the farm members began to change.

The idea that the success or failure of farming depends solely on who adopts new sci-tech achievements faster and more accurately began to take firm root in the masses' minds. It became noticeably apparent that they listened more to the technician's stories and their enthusiasm to carry out all farming processes scientifically and technologically increased even without special emphasis.

Eventually, the test plot itself replaced hundreds and thousands of words, becoming an excellent textbook that easily explained the superiority of scientific farming....

We could also hear this story from Farm Member Kim Jong Bok of Sub-workteam No. 2.

As most plots of the farm are sandy gravel land, during drought, no matter how much water was pumped up with water pumps, it would soon seep into the ground. Perhaps because of this, in the decades of managing paddy water, seeing crops suffer from drought was the most painful and distressing.

However, since using this device, the crops strangely did not suffer from drought. So once, he pulled up a rice plant to look, and the roots were stretched down firmly, incomparable to the past. Not only that. The rice water weevil, which had been a headache in the past, also became almost impossible to find. Upon learning, it turned out that water treated through that device flowing into the paddies significantly reduced diseases and pests.

As the farm members' worries decreased one by one like this, a new worry arose. They couldn't rest easy if the device stopped operating even for a moment, worrying that if the paddy rice absorbed natural water not treated by electric impulse, it would immediately get sick....

What a good worry it is.

The farm members await the tonic flowing into every plot thanks to scientific farming.

We left this place with the conviction that a bumper harvest is assured because the farm members firmly believe and struggle with the power of science.

News Sent by Rural Correspondents

Officials and farm members of the Chaeryon Farm in Panmun District are actively helping farms lagging behind in farming work.

It is more important for all farms, workteams, and sub-workteams to do their part in grain production than for one or two units to produce high yields.

From this viewpoint, the farm officials conducted education work in various forms and methods to make primary officials and farm members consciously come forward to this work. And they had primary officials each take charge of and assist workteams and sub-workteams of other lagging farms.

The farm meticulously organized labor and rationally utilized transport means to suit the situation where multiple farming processes, such as crop management and harvest preparation, overlapped, helping other lagging farms also push farming work as planned. They helped not only with labor and material support but also taught scientific farming experiences one by one.

As a result, the atmosphere of the lagging farms changed, and the farm members there also gained confidence and hastened their work.

Regarding harvest preparation, the officials of the Angto Farm in Chosan County re-examined an issue.

It was the preparation status of small and medium farming tools. Compared to tasks requiring relatively much effort, such as farm machine repair, less attention could be paid to such issues.

Going around the warehouses one by one to check the harvest preparation situation, there was no unit without farming tools that needed repair or supplement.

Having found shortcomings in their work, the officials set corresponding countermeasures and led the masses from the front. They went to workteams and sub-workteams and deeply re-educated them with concrete examples about the importance of thorough preparation for timely harvesting of grain as it ripens. The farm clearly gave tasks suited to each farm member's ability and raised the demand for their timely execution. Along with this, they generalized the experiences of units showing exemplaryness in small and medium farming tool preparation, continuously arousing the masses' consciousness and enthusiasm.

The farm members actively engaged in the work to fully prepare small and medium farming tools. Even when procuring and repairing one farming tool, they prioritized quality.

Thanks to the efforts, the small and medium farming tool preparation work could be concluded in a short period.

Reliable High-Yield Pioneers

Sub-workteam Leader Kim Wi Song of Workteam No. 2, Jangsan Farm, Taedong County

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said as follows:

"To farm well, officials and farm members of the agricultural sector, responsible for the nation's rice jar, must fulfill their responsibility and duty."

Sub-workteam Leader Kim Wi Song of Workteam No. 2, Jangsan Farm, Taedong County, is a renowned skilled farmer not only on the farm but also county-wide.

Together with his sub-workteam members, he has farmed well for recent years, producing grain and paddy rice. He contributed to bringing all sub-workteam members into the ranks of high-yield winners.

It is by no means because he has more farming experience than others or better cultivation conditions.

He had the conviction that farming with belief in science and technology would surely bring good results, and oriented all farming processes thoroughly towards scientific farming.

Last year, when the farm decided to introduce a field nutritional cold seedbed method suited to actual conditions, he was the first to raise the banner.

Regarding this farming method, he diligently learned and also received help from officials, accurately understanding the technical requirements arising in seed sprouting, sowing, and seedling rearing.

He effectively organized demonstration work so that the sub-workteam members could have a deep grasp.

The sub-workteam members actively engaged in the introduction work, saying the field nutritional cold seedbed method had many good points.

Adopting this method, the seedling period became short, and the required seedbed area per jongbo became small, thus reducing materials and labor spent on raising seedlings compared to before. Moreover, disease resistance increased, and the seedling establishment period became very short.

The sub-workteam leader gave precedence to preceding processes such as paddy water maintenance, harrowing, and leveling during transplanting, and had weeding agent application conducted before and after transplanting to prevent even a single weed from growing in the paddies.

He frequently organized field technical study sessions to make the sub-workteam members recognize that scientific crop management in the overall growth period increases root development and tillering ability, leading to good results. Particularly, after early drainage, having paddy water managers apply tillering fertilizer when the ground cracks and then letting water into the paddies showed clear effects.

The farm officials always cared for and helped him, who practically lived in the plot to bring high yields.

Thanks to devoting his whole heart with the sole thought of upholding the Party with rice, a gratifying crop condition unfolded in the sub-workteam's plots.

The sub-workteam achieved a much higher yield per jongbo in this year's grain farming than last year.

Comrade Kim Wi Song is sparing no wisdom and passion in scientifically conducting crop management to bring better results in farming.
