Consistency! This is What the First Half-Year Forest Restoration Project Review Emphasizes In August, a review meeting on the 2025 Spring National Land Management General Mobilization Project and the first half-year forest restoration project was held in Pyongyang. This meeting, conducted via video conference, served as an important occasion for all participating officials to look back on the attitude and manner with which they have carried forward the patriotic journey to prepare the foundation for the wealth of the fatherland and the happiness of future generations. The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said as follows: "We must turn all mountains into golden mountains covered with lush green forests and show in reality that if Korea is determined, it will surely do it." Upholding the lofty intention of the Party, the struggle to transform the mountains of the fatherland into useful golden mountains continued vigorously across the country during the first half of this year as well. During these days, thanks to the devoted efforts of officials and working people across various regions, the material and technical foundation for sapling production was further strengthened, and many positive changes occurred in aspects of protection and management, including forest creation, forest fire prevention, and pest control. Forests were newly created and renovated to substantially contribute to regional economic development and people's living standards and in accordance with the principle of increasing resource volume. Tasks such as sapling production, tree planting, maintenance of forest firebreak lines, and erosion control works were satisfactorily completed. In the fierce flames of the revolutionary mass movement, over 1,200 units nationwide received the title of Socialist Patriotic Forest, and many cities, counties, and districts, including Ichon County, Huichon City, Yonggwang County, Orang County, Unjong District, and Taesan District, achieved innovations in fulfilling the targets set for forest restoration. The successes achieved through tenacious struggle are the capital and springboard for future advancement and development. Just as in any endeavor, consistent beginning and end are necessary to expect good results. The forest restoration project, which is long-term, must also maintain the same attitude and passion as when the first step was taken to bear successful fruit. Only by holding a noble outlook on life, living today for tomorrow, looking far ahead, ensuring scientific accuracy and prospectiveness, proceeding with purpose-orientedness, urging new innovation and continuous advance, and pushing forward consistently, can we achieve solid development year after year. The reality of the regions that have won the title of Model Forest County proves this. Take Taechon County, for example. This county has always been among the leading regions since the start of the forest restoration project and has received excellent evaluations at every review. It is not because they had less work or exceptionally better conditions than other regions. Nor is it because they neglected other tasks and focused solely on forest restoration. Although the workload was heavy and the achievements grew bigger year by year, they pictured the tomorrow of greener forests more lush than today, and after concluding each year's work, they set new higher goals and pushed forward unwaveringly and steadily. In the first half of this year as well, they aroused the masses to newly plant tree species of high economic value, such as oil-bearing and wild fruit trees, in a timely manner to contribute to local economic development and people's living standards, and doubled efforts in forest resource protection. As a result, they were able to achieve yet another success in the forest restoration project. This is the outcome of thoroughly guarding against chronic attitudes and mechanical, passive work style, and always pushing the forest restoration project forward with a firm and steady stance. At its foundation lies the sincere effort of the county officials who strove to unwaveringly and responsibly carry out the revolutionary task given by the Party. The devotion of the officials, who put practice before words and led the masses toward continuous innovation from the standpoint of taking full responsibility for the execution of their assigned tasks from start to finish, enabled the county to achieve continuous success in the forest restoration project. The Party policy of turning all mountains of the country into useful golden mountains was embraced by officials of all regions and units at the same time, and the first step of the start was also taken together. However, the process and results of practice are not uniform, and there are even regions that commit shortcomings. This can be said to be an inevitable result arising from differences in the viewpoint and standpoint toward Party policy, not merely from differences in conditions, environment, foundation, and potential. The future of the forest restoration project also depends on the viewpoint and standpoint with which officials approach it. A commonality found in the regions and units at the forefront of the forest restoration project today is that the officials are displaying a revolutionary spirit of pushing everything through consistently and to the finish by concretizing task allocation for implementing Party policy, conducting substantial review and evaluation and continuous redeployment, and deepening skillful political and policy guidance. The reality of Jungsan County and Songhwa County shows this. In Jungsan County, officials themselves first acquired a correct understanding of the forest restoration project, sought new methods to prospectively increase forest resources, and actively put them into practice. And once a goal was set, they pushed it forward until practical results were achieved. Furthermore, this year, they paid particular attention to creating oil-bearing tree forests to help solve the cooking oil problem for the people of the county in the near future, and strongly promoted protection and management projects such as forest fire prevention, pest control, and erosion control works, thereby consolidating the achievements made in forest creation. The officials of Songhwa County also exerted their utmost efforts to fundamentally improve the local forest situation. Even regarding sapling production, they frequently visited the mother tree nursery of the county forest management station to directly ascertain the actual situation and ensured everything possible to produce more tree species suitable for the county's geographical and climatic conditions that would yield benefits over several years. They methodologically organized the annual tree planting to serve as an occasion for instilling patriotism in people's hearts and led the masses by setting an example themselves to ensure a high survival rate. After planting trees, they heightened the demand for responsible cultivation management and conducted substantial review and evaluation work to continuously increase the green forests. The above facts once again suggest that if officials always bear in mind that the destiny of Party policy rests on their shoulders and faithfully perform their duties from the standpoint of taking responsibility for both today and tomorrow, they can put their region's forest restoration project on a firm upward trajectory. High ideals and aspirations enable the exertion of tenacious practical power in the struggle to bring forward a tomorrow better than today. On the other hand, if one gives up citing difficult conditions and environment, or tries to merely maintain the status quo while weighing the importance of tasks, one cannot travel the long road of forest restoration to the end and will ultimately become a drop-out. Such regions include Kobong County, which failed to establish practical measures for improving forest creation projects; Kyonghung County, which boasted while falling short of the tree seed sowing plan; and Ryonggang County, which failed to achieve results in fulfilling set targets. Huichon County and Jangjin County, which failed to prevent forest resource infringement in advance, cannot be exceptions either. This is clearly an expression of lack of patriotism and can only be seen as a result of the non-positive work style of the officials in the relevant regions who neglected the forest restoration project. If officials fail to bear the responsibility imposed on them in performing their assigned duties, they lose their qualifications as commanding members. Officials of regions that committed serious shortcomings in the first half-year forest restoration project of this year must sincerely reflect and firmly awaken and strive to ensure the lessons are not repeated. One cannot achieve success in the forest restoration project by being like boiling pebbles. Only when our generation, with the awareness that we will devote our full sweat and that its patriotic value will be verified before the next generation, strives patiently can we continuously take meaningful steps toward the ultimate goal. Patriotism is precisely devotion and dedication to the fatherland, and its beginning and end must always be consistent. In other words, whether the forest restoration plan is accurately implemented or remains lines on paper depends on the attitude and level of endurance officials demonstrate. Only officials who are always sincere and active in performing their assigned responsibilities can consistently propel the struggle to transform all mountains of their region into golden mountains, treasure mountains. Fiercely, until the very end – This is the firm standpoint officials must hold in implementing Party policy. Are you maintaining consistency in the patriotic work to prepare the wealth of the fatherland? Every official must place themselves before this question and push forward their region's forest restoration project consistently and tenaciously with the high passion and powerful strides of when they took the first step. [Korean Central News Agency] Spring Cocoon Production Plan Fulfilled In Sericulture Sector Upholding the Party policy of developing sericulture to produce more high-quality silk fabric, the sericulture sector focused on cocoon production and achieved results. Thanks to the high patriotic zeal and devoted efforts of officials and working people of cocoon production units across various regions who have waged a strenuous struggle since the beginning of the year, the national spring cocoon production plan for the sericulture and silk industry was overfulfilled. The national agency focused on firmly consolidating the material and technical foundation of production units, such as securing excellent silkworm egg varieties, improving soil fertility, and cultivation management. Based on innovatively setting seasonal and stage-by-stage production targets, they intensified organizing work and technical guidance for their execution. Along with this, they themselves produced hundreds of tons of disinfectants necessary for cocoon production and timely ensured the supply of hundreds of thousands of high-quality mulberry twigs for silkworms. In South Hamgyong Province, despite unfavorable spring weather conditions, they scientifically and technologically carried out cultivation management of mulberry trees and silkworm egg hatching and overfulfilled the cocoon production plan. Many cocoon production units, including Kowon, Jongphyong, Kumya, and Hongwon Sericulture Management Stations, fed the silkworms without loss with mulberry leaves carefully cultivated and gathered, thoroughly established measures for ensuring temperature and humidity in the silkworm rearing rooms and preventing pests, and increased the weight per cocoon. In Nampo City, by securing excellent silkworm egg varieties and guaranteeing them in a timely manner, they enabled sericulture management stations to adopt the early spring silkworm rearing method, reduce the disease incidence rate, save mulberry leaves, and harvest more high-quality cocoons. Anak Sericulture Management Station in South Hwanghae Province actively adopted advanced silkworm rearing methods and completed the annual cocoon production plan ahead of schedule. Sericulture management stations in Unchon, Yongan, Phungchon, Jaeryong, Pyoksong, Kangryong, and Sinchon raised cocoon production results by themselves producing plant-based pesticides and thoroughly adhering to scientific and technological requirements in silkworm rearing. Sericulture units in South Phyongan Province, including Jungsan, Yangdok, Songchon, and Pyongwon Sericulture Management Stations, also strengthened on-site technical guidance, conducted substantial review and evaluation work, and actively adopted advanced experiences proven effective in practice, thereby achieving good results. [Korean Central News Agency] Bringing About Innovations in Production by Highly Upholding Party Decisions -At a Forest Equipment Factory- Photo by Correspondent Kim Kwang Rim Concentrating Efforts on Latter Stage Cultivation Management of Crops In Rural Villages Within Kangwon Province Upholding the Party's intention to minimize damage caused by disastrous weather to the utmost in the agricultural sector, officials and working people in Kangwon Province are devising active measures to protect farmland and scientifically conduct the latter stage cultivation management of crops. Officials of Party, power organs, and agricultural guidance institutions within the province are deeply engraving anew the teachings given by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un in relation to the damage recovery project in the area of Okgye-ri, Anbyon County, two years ago in August, and are conducting organizing and political work in a leading and detailed manner to concentrate total efforts on minimizing damage caused by disastrous abnormal weather. The province is taking practical measures first to protect farmland and crops, treating the possibility of future heavy rain damage as a foregone conclusion, and is heightening the demand for all farm officials and farm members to display a high sense of responsibility, accuracy, and perfection. In Kumgang County and Kosong County, they concentrated strength and means and successfully concluded over 100,000 m³ of riverbed digging in local small and medium streams, 55,000 m³ of embankment earthwork, and 14,000 m² of stonework. Farms in Chonnae County and Hoeyang County are comprehensively investigating and mastering the growth state of crops, adopting advanced cultivation management methods, and enhancing resistance to various damages. Agricultural workers in Munchon City, Phangyo County, and Anbyon County also qualitatively completed water channel digging, and construction of water intake and drainage channels. Farms in Wonsan City, Cholwon County, and others are actively striving to increase the grain quality of rice plants in paddies by using photosynthesis enhancers, growth promoters, and nutrient fortifiers, in accordance with the unfavorable weather conditions of the rainy season. In Kosan County, along with scientifically and technologically conducting cultivation management of rice plants and corn, they are pushing forward the work of preventing damage caused by diseases and pests that may occur during the rainy season with foresight. [Korean Central News Agency] Making Solid Preparations for Autumn Wheat Sowing At the Honam Farm under the Pyongyang City Rural Economy Committee, they are making solid preparations for autumn wheat sowing. Farm officials, not complacent with the achievements made in wheat farming this year, analyzed the work situation of the previous period under the goal of achieving an even higher yield next year. The farm found and practiced innovative ways to maximize the per-hectare yield of wheat in the previous period. A representative example is that they reasonably mixed hundreds of tons of mushroom waste and compost transported in concentration through connection with the relevant unit, matured it, and then applied dozens of tons per hectare before wheat planting, thereby enhancing soil fertility. The farm decided to introduce this method, evaluated as having value for generalization, this time as well, and also put much effort into producing hundreds of tons of quicklime on its own. In particular, they paid deep attention to variety improvement. Officials decided to boldly introduce excellent varieties, whose characteristics were understood through test cultivation, over a large area. And they put securing seeds first. The farm, which also scientifically determined the timing for autumn wheat sowing, found the way to guarantee the timely sowing in increasing the proportion of mechanization in farm work. Officials and farm members are repeatedly checking for any deficiencies and continuing to put effort into preparations for autumn wheat sowing. Correspondent Pak Yong Jin Livestock Breeding Experience of a Family The Methods Were All in the Books The family of Comrade Ri Kang Hyon, a farm member at Karyo Farm in Sinwon County, is benefiting from raising dozens of goats. The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said as follows: "Rural households should raise many domestic animals, including pigs, goats, rabbits, and chickens, to increase income and make their lives more affluent." It was nine years ago that the family started raising goats. They acquired three kids and raised them with utmost care. At first, the goats did not get sick and grew well, giving birth to many kids over several years, increasing the number. However, one spring, some of the goats suddenly showed abnormal symptoms. Comrade Ri Kang Hyon was flustered. Carefully observing the symptoms of the sick goat, he could tell it had diarrhea. He treated it with all sincerity, boiling common mugwort from the nearby mountain and feeding it or applying it to the tongue as experienced people advised. The diarrhea gradually disappeared as if washed away. At that time, Comrade Ri Kang Hyon firmly learned a lesson. Engraving that without knowledge, no matter how great the desire, one cannot properly raise domestic animals, he thereafter enriched his knowledge by delving into livestock technology books and listening to the stories of experienced people. In particular, he put effort into establishing veterinary quarantine measures by noting down one by one in a notebook the number of kinds and names of plants usable as medicine in the vicinity. In the process, he also learned methods to treat parasitic diseases and skin diseases. Feeding powdered bark of the Amur cork tree was also good for treating pneumonia or fever occurring in winter. He frequently conducted pen disinfection with quicklime or ash, reducing disease occurrence and the death rate. In the end, the methods were all in the books, and with determination, he could prepare as much medicine as needed for treating domestic animals. The number of goats increased every year, becoming a considerable help to the household economy. For the past several years, during the period of high milk production, this family has been producing dozens of kilograms of milk daily and sending it to children at nurseries and kindergartens.
