The Meritorious Deeds of the Youth Highly Praised

Our youth, possessing such pluck and courage, are growing up stoutly as vanguard fighters who glorify the great era and as successors to the revolution.

Is it not because there is a large contingent of youth who are devoting all their wisdom and bravery to the path of upholding the Party's plans and resolutions in practice that our country's strong and brilliant future is more firmly guaranteed?

The more one pictures the trustworthy appearance of the young vanguards, who are the pride of our Party, the more deeply one is reminded of a story engraved in the sacred history of the youth movement.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said as follows:

"The meritorious deeds performed by the members of the youth shock brigade in the construction of the Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station are a precious treasure to be inscribed with pride in the history of our Party and handed down for eternity."

It was a day in October 2015.

The respected General Secretary, who had arrived on-site to attend the completion ceremony of the Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station, first visited the Paektusan Hero Youth Meritorious Deeds Exhibition Hall.

Upon entering Hall No. 1 of the exhibition hall, the respected General Secretary said that since the Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station is the place where the heroic youth's spirit of struggle was created, the Paektusan Hero Youth Meritorious Deeds Exhibition Hall here must be well built to serve as a base for education.

As the officials recalled his words, the event that had taken place a month earlier came vividly to their minds with deep emotion.

In September of that year, the respected General Secretary, who had visited the construction site of the Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station, expressed great satisfaction that the youth shock brigade members and builders had successfully completed a vast amount of construction work equivalent to what had been done over the past ten years in just over four months, thus erecting Power Stations No. 1 and No. 2. He then spoke with full confidence, saying that as long as we have such excellent heroic youth as our Party's reserve force, vanguard, and flank units, we have nothing to fear, and our Party's ideas and resolutions will surely be realized.

That day, after gazing at a building under construction and being lost in thought for a moment, he said that the building newly constructed in the education ground, which was called the Revolutionary History Education Hall, should be named the "Paektusan Hero Youth Meritorious Deeds Exhibition Hall." The accompanying officials were surprised by these utterly unexpected words, but the surprise of the shock brigade commanders was even greater.

What kind of power station is this?

Was it not the power station that the Great General Kim Jong Il, despite his poor health on his return from a foreign visit in the last period of his revolutionary life, insisted on visiting, saying he would go even by tank if he couldn't go by car? And was it not the monumental creation that the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un, seeking to realize that very wish of our General, traveled far and wide and devoted his heart and soul to erect?

Therefore, building a revolutionary history education hall here to convey the leadership achievements of the Great General Kim Jong Il and the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un was the unanimous desire of not only the members of the Paektusan Hero Youth Shock Brigade but also all the people of the country.

However, the respected General Secretary instructed that it should be built not as a revolutionary history education hall but as an educational place for the entire country to learn from the Paektu Youth, so the shock brigade commanders felt a lump in their throats and could not utter a word.

That was not the only time. Afterwards, the respected General Secretary examined the draft of the interior layout and exhibit arrangement for the exhibition hall on multiple occasions, providing meticulous guidance, and even took the benevolent measure of mobilizing art creators to assist in the work of building the exhibition hall.

Recalling those unforgettable days, the officials touring the exhibition hall with the respected General Secretary could not contain their agitated emotions.

Presently, the respected General Secretary entered the section embodying the water tunnel worksite where the youth shock brigade members had drilled through inch by inch.

There was a story behind why the water tunnel worksite was embodied in the exhibition hall.

On the day of his second visit to the power station construction site, the respected General Secretary went as far as the front of the No. 2 water tunnel, which the shock brigade members had drilled through with a determination to fight to the death, but he expressed deep regret that he could not enter the water tunnel because the intake had been completed.

Therefore, while building the exhibition hall, the officials decided to embody the No. 2 water tunnel in the corridor connecting Hall No. 2 and Hall No. 3. They embodied the heroic struggle of the shock brigade members along with the slogan carved by the shock brigade members on the wall: "Our tunneling speed is the speed of our hearts running towards the enemy!" and exhibited construction tools, including the rock drills they had used, thus recreating the water tunnel construction site exactly as it was at that time.

Viewing this with deep emotion, the respected General Secretary said that the struggle and life of the shock brigade members who built the No. 2 water tunnel had been embodied in a realistic and interesting way, and he once again passionately spoke about building the Paektusan Hero Youth Meritorious Deeds Exhibition Hall well as a base for learning from the youth's revolutionary spirit and way of life and passing it down through generations to posterity.

Continuing, the respected General Secretary meaningfully said: "The treasure is not the power station itself, but the heroic spirit of struggle displayed by the youth while building the power station."

Something hot surged up in the officials' chests. They could more deeply comprehend why the respected General Secretary highly praised the meritorious deeds of the youth shock brigade members displayed in the power station construction as a precious treasure to be inscribed with pride in the history of our Party and handed down for eternity, and why he initiated and zealously guided the work of building the Paektusan Hero Youth Meritorious Deeds Exhibition Hall.

After touring the entire exhibition hall, the respected General Secretary taught the officials to fill even the walls of the exhibition hall corridor with materials on the youth's struggle and emphasized that the interior of the exhibition hall must be better arranged.

The respected General Secretary, who so painstakingly cares to glorify for all eternity the meritorious deeds of the youth performed on the land of Paektu!

Looking up to the infinitely benevolent General Secretary, the officials cried out in their hearts:

The Paektusan Hero Youth Meritorious Deeds Exhibition Hall is indeed the noble crystallization of the respected General Secretary's sky-high trust and fiery love for our youth, an exhibition hall unmatched in the world.

Today, the Paektusan Hero Youth Meritorious Deeds Exhibition Hall stands as a monumental creation of the era that clearly demonstrates the validity and vitality of our Party's idea of prioritizing youth, and serves as an excellent educational place for Party members, workers, and youth and student learners to learn from the heroic meritorious deeds of the youth shock brigade members.

On this unrecognizably changed land, traces of the construction battle fought by the youth shock brigade members cannot be found anywhere.

However, the Paektusan Hero Youth Meritorious Deeds Exhibition Hall, splendidly built under the care of the respected General Secretary into an unparalleled exhibition hall of meritorious deeds in this world, serves as a witness of history, eternally conveying the heroic struggle and noble spiritual world of the Paektu Youth.

Indeed, the respected General Secretary's ocean-like trust and love are the noble nourishment that stoutly nurtures the youth of this country into heroes of the era and giants of creation.

Publication of Volume 36 of the Enlarged Edition of the Kim Il Sung Collection

The Workers' Party of Korea Publishing House has published Volume 36 of the enlarged edition of the Kim Il Sung Collection, the immortal library of the Juche idea, which contains the immortal classical works of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung in chronological order.

The Collection contains 37 classical works, including historic speeches, talks, and conclusions made by the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung from November 1959 to February 1960.

The Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung gave the following teachings:

"Only by strengthening the unity and cohesion of the Party can we successfully carry out the vast revolutionary tasks that lie before us."

In the immortal classical works "On the Tasks of the Party Organizations in South Pyongan Province", "On Improving the Methods of Work of the County Party Organizations to Suit the New Environment", and "On the Lessons Learned from Guiding the Party Work in Kangso County", the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung clarified that Party organizations must firmly prioritize political work, solidly establish the collective leadership system of the county Party committee, and successfully carry out all work within the county.

The tasks and methods for vigorously waging the all-people's movement to increase production, practice economy, and prepare reserves, concentrate forces on the main link in production and construction, and for officials to carry out economic organizational work without gaps and unfailingly fulfill daily, monthly, and quarterly plans are specified in the works "On Some Problems Arising in the Fulfillment of the 1960 National Economic Plan" and "On Some Immediate Tasks in Socialist Economic Construction".

In the works "On Some Problems to Be Solved in the Rural Economy Sector" and "On Developing Livestock Farming in Agricultural Cooperatives", the Great Leader emphasized hastening mechanization in the rural economy sector, irrigating wheat fields, producing large quantities of quality compost to decisively increase wheat yields, and developing livestock farming to increase meat production.

The Great Leader's work "On Some Immediate Problems in the Development of Biology" contains the idea of thoroughly establishing Juche in all fields of scientific research and solving emerging scientific and technological problems in accordance with the specific conditions of our country.

Methodological problems for Rodong Sinmun to fulfill its mission and role as a propagandist and educator that arouses the masses to implement the Party's policies are elucidated in the work "On the Direction of Editing Current Editorials".

In addition, the Collection contains classical works that provide clear answers to theoretical and practical problems arising in various fields of revolution and construction, including the issue of officials steadily studying to raise their political and theoretical level, the issue of taking good care of the lives of the families of fallen and murdered comrades, the issue of building the Samsok district seat into a satellite city of Pyongyang, some issues to be grasped in the work of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, the issue of producing more quality porcelainware, and others.

The works contained in Volume 36 of the enlarged edition of the Kim Il Sung Collection are an encyclopedia of revolution and construction whose correctness, truthfulness, and vitality have been confirmed through practice, and they will serve as a powerful ideological and spiritual weapon adding infinite strength and inspiration to the struggle of all the people who are accelerating the general advance toward the Ninth Party Congress, filled with confidence in new victories.

It was a day in October 2016 when the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the Mangyongdae Revolutionary Site Souvenir Factory.

After touring the jack production process, melamine resin product production process, souvenir production process, product sample room, etc., and learning in detail about the production situation and product quality, the respected Comrade eventually moved his steps to the science and technology dissemination room.

I Will Walk Only the Path of Repayment All My Life

Everyone born on this land has a fervent wish. It is to have the great honor of meeting the infinitely great and benevolent respected Comrade Kim Jong Un closely in person.

However, I, who am merely an ordinary football coach, within just a few months, had the dream-like happiness of meeting the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un twice at the Headquarters Building of the Party Central Committee and taking a commemorative photo to be handed down for generations. Where else in this world is there a lucky person as blessed as I?

Even now, when I think of those unforgettable moments of excitement, my heart trembles and my eyes become hot without me realizing it.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said as follows:

"In the field of physical education, training must be intensified, our own superior game tactics perfected, and new physical education myths of heroic Korea continuously created in international games to grasp the hegemony of Asia and the world hegemony."

In January this year, on the occasion of the New Year 2025, the respected General Secretary summoned innovators in labor and persons of merit to the Headquarters Building of the Party Central Committee. Among them was I, the football coach of the Wolmido Football Team.

The excitement of the innovators in labor and persons of merit entering the courtyard of the Party Central was indescribable, but my feelings at that time were particularly distinct.

It was an outburst of intense emotion arising from the unforgettable memories of a few months prior.

At the end of September last year, the respected General Secretary met with the players and coaches who won the International Football Federation 2024 Under-20 Women's World Cup tournament at the Headquarters Building of the Party Central Committee.

How can I explain my feelings at that time in just a word or two?

Truly, it was a feeling as if I had embraced the entire universe. But what followed was the piercing thought that without the hand of the respected General Secretary, who bestowed invincible strength and courage to always run with unwavering confidence in the fierce games to glorify the honor of the homeland, one cannot speak of today's achievements.

That day, the respected Comrade took a meaningful commemorative photo with us against the backdrop of the Headquarters Building of the Party Central Committee.

In this was contained the great trust and expectation that our women football players and coaches should firmly grasp the hegemony of Asia and the world hegemony going forward and further consolidate that position.

The respected General Secretary, who, amidst caring for all affairs of the nation, found precious time to meet our players and coaches and bestowed boundless love and trust,

Looking up with reverence to the image of the benevolent Comrade, we all reaffirmed our firm resolution to achieve even greater results in the future.

And then, just a few months after that unforgettable day of glory, I once again entered the courtyard of the Party Central. Where else is there glory greater than this glory, happiness greater than this happiness?

At the moment I stood at the glorious commemorative photo site together with the respected General Secretary and the innovators in labor and persons of merit, I became convinced once again in my heart:

That because of the respected General Secretary's ocean-like love and trust, who highly praises physical educators who go out to international games, win, and fly the flag of the Republic as true patriots, heroes, and splendid ones, the day of a powerhouse in physical education is being brought closer.
