Russian Federation Council Delegation Pays Tribute at Kumsusan Palace of the Sun

A delegation of the Russian Federation Council, headed by Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin, paid tribute to the Great Leader Kim Il Sung and the Great Leader Kim Jong Il at the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun on the morning of the 14th.

Accompanying them were Kang Yun Sok, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea; Pak In Chol, Chairman of the Supreme People’s Assembly; and Alexander Matsegora, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Korea.

The delegation members bowed in profound reverence before the statues of the Great Leader Kim Il Sung and the Great Leader Kim Jong Il, who made immortal contributions to the cause of anti-imperialist independence and the development of friendly relations between Korea and Russia through energetic external activities.

In the halls of immortality, where the Great Leader and the Great General remain as they were in life, they offered solemn salutations with humble hearts.

Meeting Held Between Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK and Chairman of the Russian Federation Council

A meeting between Choe Ryong Hae, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, and Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the Russian Federation Council, took place on the 14th at the Mansudae Assembly Hall.

Attending were Kang Yun Sok, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the SPA; Pak In Chol, Chairman of the SPA; Kim Jong Guk, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs; Ri Chol, Chairman of the Korea-Russia Friendship Parliamentary Group and Director of the Medical Research Institute under the Ministry of Public Health; relevant officials; Ivan Melnikov, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council; Alexander Babakov and Vladimir Davankov, Deputy Chairmen of the Federation Council; and other key members of the Russian delegation, alongside Ambassador Alexander Matsegora and embassy staff.

Discussions focused on further expanding bilateral cooperation to build a peaceful and just new world through joint efforts, advance the welfare of both peoples, and develop friendly relations. Matters of mutual concern were also addressed.
The meeting proceeded in a comradely and friendly atmosphere.

Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK Hosts Banquet in Honor of Russian Federation Council Delegation

The Supreme People’s Assembly of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea hosted a banquet on the evening of the 14th at the Mansudae Assembly Hall to welcome the Russian Federation Council delegation, visiting Korea to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Liberation.

The delegation, headed by Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin, Ambassador Alexander Matsegora, and embassy staff were invited.

Choe Ryong Hae, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the SPA; Kang Yun Sok, Vice Chairman; Pak In Chol, Chairman of the SPA; Kim Jong Guk, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs; and relevant officials attended.

Speeches were delivered by Comrade Choe Ryong Hae and Comrade Vyacheslav Volodin.
Banquet attendees raised glasses to toast the health of Kim Jong Un, president of the State Affairs of the DPRK, and Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, President of the Russian Federation.
The banquet proceeded in an atmosphere overflowing with comradely friendship and goodwill.

Russian Federation Council Delegation Arrives in Pyongyang

At the invitation of the Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK, a Russian Federation Council delegation headed by Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin arrived in Pyongyang on the 14th for a congratulatory visit marking the 80th anniversary of Liberation.

Pyongyang International Airport was filled with a warm welcome for the envoys of the friendly neighboring country, bearing the goodwill of the Russian people amid the steadfast advancement of Korea-Russia relations into an invincible alliance.

The national flags of the DPRK and the Russian Federation flew at the flagpole square, while an honor guard of the Korean People’s Army stood at the terminal.

Choe Ryong Hae, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, First Vice President of the State Affairs of the DPRK, and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the SPA, greeted the delegation at the airport.

Also present were Kang Yun Sok, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the SPA; Pak In Chol, Chairman of the SPA; Kim Jong Guk, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs; Ri Chol, Chairman of the Korea-Russia Friendship Parliamentary Group; Ambassador Alexander Matsegora; and embassy staff.
Amid enthusiastic cheers from the crowd, the delegation departed for their lodgings.

Opening Ceremony of Newly Renovated Ice Rink and Figure Skating Gala Held

Under the grand vision and energetic guidance of the great Party Central Committee, Pyongyang—transforming daily into a world-class ideal city blossoming with socialist civilization—has seen the splendid renovation of the ice rink situated along the picturesque Pothong River.

Having gloriously served for over 40 years as a hub for winter sports development and physical training for workers and youth, the ice rink has now been reborn as a multifunctional sports and cultural complex. It meets the demands of the new era of civilization and renaissance, fully accommodating ice sports, diverse indoor athletic events, and colorful artistic performances in tandem with the great surge in construction.

An opening ceremony for the newly renovated ice rink was held on the 14th to mark the significant 80th anniversary of Liberation.

Attendees included Pak Pong Ju, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and Premier of the Cabinet; Kim Tok Hun, Secretary of the WPK Central Committee and Chairman of the State Physical Culture and Sports Guidance Commission; Kim Jong Gwan, Vice Premier of the Cabinet; Ri Myong Guk, Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Ice Skating Association; relevant officials; construction workers; officials from provincial and central institutions; athletes; ice rink staff; and Pyongyang citizens.

Comrade Kim Tok Hun delivered the opening address.
He stated that the ice rink—now fully transformed into a modern sports facility with state-of-the-art amenities and a multifunctional cultural venue matching the capital’s stature—stands as another achievement of the new era of civilization and renaissance, where all things progress and develop anew.

He noted that the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un clearly set forth the direction and methods to remodel the ice rink into a new form of sports-cultural hub and energetically guided its world-class renovation.

He emphasized that the true stature and absolute height of the ice rink—a monument embodying Kim Jong Un’s noble will to preserve this sacred historical creation not merely as a symbol of the past but as a treasure for athletes and future generations—cannot be measured by any standard of advancement or civilization.

The speaker stressed that the physical and technical foundations of sports must also be revolutionized in this era of comprehensive development, expressing confidence that this splendid new cultural-sports complex will showcase national revival and progress while making life more beautiful, joyful, and vibrant.

Following the ceremony, a figure skating gala was held.
Performers displayed graceful movements, skilled spins, jumps, and ingenious techniques across group performances and ice dances.
The audience applauded enthusiastically as skaters created romantic enchantment on the ice to powerful, lyrical music.

The gala, an artistic portrayal of the Korean people’s happy present and brighter future as they enjoy the new civilization flourishing under the great Party’s care, added to the joy of the opening.
