The death of a great person and the Chinese people's condolences

On July 8, 1994, the President of the DPRK, General Secretary of the WPK Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Military Council of the WPK, comrade Kim Il Sung passed away.

​The Great Leader comrade Kim Il Sung is a long-standing friend of the Chinese people and a loyal comrade of the CCP. As soon as the Chinese leaders learned of the death of comrade Kim Il Sung, they immediately sent a funeral telegram to the Korean authorities. General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the head of Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China, Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Jiang Zemin, Prime Minister of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Peng and Chairman of the Committee of the National People’s Congress Qiao Shi jointly sent a funeral telegram to the Central Commitee of WPK, expressing their deep and sincere condolences on the comrade Kim Il Sung's decease.

It should be noted that Deng Xiaoping, who has been the chairman of China, also sent a funeral telegram to the party and the Korean government. All members of the Central Committee of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China: Jiang Zemin, Li Peng, Qiao Shi, Li Ruihuan, Zhu Rongji, Liu Huaqing and Hu Jintao have visited the Korean Embassy in China and expressed their condolences. On July 20, Korea Kim Il Sung's Day of Mourning took place. In that time, in China, at Tiananmen Square, at Xinhua Gate, at the Great Hall of the People and at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing, flags were flown at half-staff.
