General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the head of Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China, Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Jiang Zemin, Prime Minister of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Peng and Chairman of the Committee of the National People’s Congress Qiao Shi jointly sent a funeral telegram to the Central Commitee of WPK, expressing their deep and sincere condolences on the comrade Kim Il Sung's decease.

​The full text of the funeral telegram is presented below:

"​We were shocked to learn that the President of the DPRK, the General Secretary of the WPK Central Committee, Comrade Kim Il Sung, took his last sleep. We would like to express our sincere condolences to you, and also our sincere condolences and sincere comforts to the entire Korean people.

​Comrade Kim Il Sung was the founder of the Labor Party of Korea and the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea, as well as and undeveloped country into a strong socialist state. He devoted his life energy to a just cause of national liberation, cause of independence and the establishment of socialism for the Korean people, so that he has created immortal historical merit.

​Comrade Kim Il Sung always supported and developed within a huge enthusiasm the traditional friendship between the peoples of Korea and China, he has maintained a deep friendship with the senior generation of Chinese revolutionaries and contributed to the continuous development of friendship and cooperation between the DPRK and the PRC. The death of comrade Ka trusted and great leader of the Korean people. For more than half a century of revolutionary career, Comrade Kim Il Sung has led the Korean people to turn a poorim Il Sung deeply saddened the Party of China, the Chinese government and the Chinese people.

However comrade Kim Il Sung passed away, his noble image will live in the hearts of the Korean people forever. The Chinese people will also miss him. We firmly believe that the Korean people will follow the messages of Comrade Kim Il Sung and will rally around the Central Committee of the Workers Party of Korea under the leadership of Comrade Kim Jong Il to continue their advance towards their homeland development and further maintain peace on the Korean Peninsula. The friendship between the WPK and the CPC, between the DPRK and the PRC, and between the Chinese people and the Korean people will undoubtedly continue to strengthen and develop.
