The Coordination Committee and the Russian Executive Committee of the DPRK International Solidarity Group, as well as the Board of the Russian Society for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK within our organization, announce with deep sorrow and grief the heavy and irreparable loss.

On December 6, 2025, at the age of 71, the life of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, member of the Board of the Russian Society for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK, Comrade Alexander Ivanovich Matsegora, was suddenly cut short.

Comrade Matsegora made an invaluable contribution to the restoration of the Russian Society for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK during the difficult 1990s, and selflessly worked for the revival and strengthening of relations of fraternal friendship between Russia and the DPRK. Largely thanks to his tireless efforts and diplomatic talent, solid foundations were laid for elevating Russian-Korean relations to a qualitatively new, historically high level of comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance.

We express our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.

The bright memory of the outstanding Russian diplomat and patriot, who made a significant contribution to the establishment and deepening of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and the DPRK, will be passed on by the activists of our organization from generation to generation.
