On February 13, activists of the North American Executive Committee of the DPRK International Solidarity Group (DPRK ISG) held events commemorating the Day of the Shining Star — the 84th anniversary of the birth of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il. These gatherings in New Jersey and Florida mark the first major DPRK solidarity events held on US soil in several years.

Members of the American Communist Party (ACP) and representatives of progressive public circles joined the commemorations. Participants paid tribute to the Great Leader, whose revolutionary activities made an invaluable contribution to world socialism and the strengthening of the DPRK's defense capabilities.

Speakers noted that Comrade Kim Jong Il, an outstanding strategist and military commander, preserved and augmented the achievements of the Korean people under the most challenging international conditions. His leadership laid a solid foundation for building a powerful socialist state.

A documentary screening highlighted the heroic participation of Korean People's Army soldiers in the liberation of the Kursk region. The soldiers' unparalleled feats deepened the audience's understanding of the struggle against world fascism and the decisive importance of resisting resurgent neo-Nazism. Speakers praised the high fighting spirit of these internationalist warriors, who honorably defend freedom and justice far from their homeland.

Participants agreed that the DPRK, faithful to the ideals of Juche and Songun, serves as a beacon for all peoples resisting imperialist oppression and the neocolonial policies of the United States. They expressed full support for respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, president of the State Affairs of the DPRK, and voiced hope for his re-election as General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea at the upcoming 9th Congress.
