The Korean War (1950–1953), which broke out in the last century, is widely known to the world as a war waged by the US-led multinational forces against the newly-founded Korea. However, many people still do not know that this war safeguarded world peace and security. According to the “A, B, C Plan” drafted by the United States at that time, the US was to first launch the Korean invasion war as Stage A and then expand it to Manchuria and Siberia in Stages B and C. For the realization of Stage A, the US provoked the Korean War and hurled into it more than 2 million troops, including one-third of its ground forces, one-fifth of its air force, most of the Pacific Fleet, and the forces of 15 vassal countries, the ROK army and even former Japanese soldiers, all armed with the latest equipment. What would have happened if everything had gone according to the US plan? The massive US and Chiang Kai-shek forces would have swept into the Chinese mainland, and the flames of war would have spread to Siberia. The US troops stationed in Europe and their allies would have advanced to the western border of the Soviet Union. It is no secret that Truman, then US president, set forth world domination as the overall goal of its foreign policy, saying in his message to Congress that the United States “has been entrusted with the important task of guiding the world in the future.” In March 1947, Truman proclaimed the “Truman Doctrine” that opposed socialist and people’s democratic countries and aggravated the international tension under the signboard of defending the “free world” against the “threat of communism.” The US and the imperialist forces, aiming at the annihilation of the socialist forces on the globe, did not even hesitate to provoke another world war as an extension of it. However, the US plan could not avoid failure from the very first stage. Under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung (1912–1994), the Korean people heroically defended the sovereignty and dignity of the country in the war against the aggressors. It is no coincidence that today many military experts in the world assess Korea’s victory in the Korean War as an event of world-historic significance that safeguarded human peace. US Weapons Displayed in Pyongyang At the Captured Weapons Exhibition Ground of the Fatherland Liberation War Victory Memorial Hall in Pyongyang, the capital of Korea, the weapons captured by the Korean People’s Army from the US imperialist aggressors during the Fatherland Liberation War (1950–1953) are on display.
