The Missile General Bureau of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) conducted on October 31 a test for the combat applicability and power evaluation of the dispersion warhead of a tactical ballistic missile. General Kim Jong Sik, member of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and first deputy department director of the WPK Central Committee, guided the test. The Ballistic Missile System Research Institute and the Warhead Research Institute of the Missile General Bureau, announcing the results of the test for the combat applicability and power evaluation of the dispersion warhead of the tactical ballistic missile, stated that it had been confirmed that the Standard Type 2 dispersion warhead can devastate a target area of 12–13 hectares with super-high density. The director of the Missile General Bureau remarked: "We divide dispersion warheads into four categories: special-purpose and standard-type. Within this year we will make all these warheads available for units to select and use in accordance with the purpose of the operation and the characteristics of the target to be eliminated." The Missile General Bureau stated that the test was part of regular scientific research activity for increasing the power of combat systems.
