On the Occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the DIU European Regional Internet Discussion "The Korean Revolution Carrying On Through the Century" Held A European regional internet discussion on the theme "The Korean Revolution Carrying On Through the Century" was held on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU). Taking part in the discussion were figures of the European Regional Committee for Friendship with the Korean People and the friendship associations with Korea, and members of friendship and solidarity organizations of European countries including Greece, Denmark, Hungary, Switzerland, Sweden, Britain, Spain, Croatia and Poland, as well as India and Pakistan. The chairman of the British Association for Friendship with Korea, who is secretary-general of the European Regional Committee for Friendship with the Korean People, presided over the discussion. He said that 100 years ago the Great Leader President Kim Il Sung founded the Down-with-Imperialism Union, and thereby the Korean people could for the first time in history hold high the banner of independence and bring about a dramatic turn in carving out their destiny. Saying that the programme and principles of the DIU became the basis of the Juche-oriented line and policies of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), he continued as follows. Because the WPK opposed flunkeyism and dogmatism in the revolution and construction and thoroughly established Juche, it could build a dignified country of independence, self-reliance and self-defence and guide it toward prosperity and strength. Today the WPK, under the wise leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, is taking the ideas and spirit of the DIU as the lifeline of the revolution and the cornerstone of a thousand years and is invariably carrying them forward, and is being further strengthened and developed into the great kimilsungism-kimjongilism party, an ever-victorious and militant invincible party. There followed discussions. The discussants, including the chairman of the Swedish Association for Friendship with Korea who is chairman of the European Regional Committee for Friendship with the Korean People, and the chairman of the Swiss Korea Committee who is vice-chairman of the regional committee, stressed that the founding of the Down-with-Imperialism Union was a historic event marking a new departure in the Korean people's revolutionary struggle for independence and sovereignty. They mentioned the immediate tasks and final goal of the Down-with-Imperialism Union and highly praised that over the past decades the WPK, under the outstanding leadership of President Kim Il Sung, Comrade Kim Jong Il and Comrade Kim Jong Un, has brilliantly carried forward the tradition of the DIU and fully displayed its majesty as an ever-victorious party. They praised that the Korean people, following the noble spiritual world of the first generation of the revolution who were firmly united around the Leader, are single-heartedly united around the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un and are vigorously advancing to complete the cause of the Juche revolution. They explained the tradition of unity established by the DIU and stated that it is precisely the true image of Korean society that the Leader devotes himself endlessly for the people and the people absolutely trust and follow the Leader, and that the secret of the miraculous achievements made by the Korean people under the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un lies in none other than this. A congratulatory message to the respected General Secretary was adopted at the discussion. The message noted that the Great Leader opened the beginning of the Korean revolution by founding the Down-with-Imperialism Union and laid the root of the WPK. The message stressed that today the spirit of the DIU is being unwaveringly carried on by the WPK, which is steadily advancing the cause of independence. The message told that under the seasoned leadership of the respected General Secretary our Party is leading the people to create new miracles in socialist construction. After the discussion ended, an internet photo exhibition "The Journey of Devotion for the People" was held. [KCNA] The Responsibility-Shifting Commotion to Evade the Crisis Now in European countries masses of all strata are waging large-scale protest struggles in the capital and various other places against the authorities' unjust policies. The protest struggle that began in France against the backdrop of the wretched educational environment and soaring prices is spreading to other European countries like a bushfire in the dry season. On October 24, too, large-scale demonstrations took place in many European countries including France, Spain, Italy, Belgium and Albania. The problem is that European country officials are describing the anti-government protests arising from their own wrong policies as "instigated by Russia". They are clamouring that Russia is "instigating mass unrest in Europe's major cities". In this regard, the Russian government said not long ago that some European country leaders, instead of analyzing the present situation in which protest actions continue and finding the causes, are shifting the blame onto others, and asserted that the causes of the situation are attributable to the mistakes those countries themselves committed, including the increase of state debt. In fact, the popular resistance sweeping Europe may be said to be the inevitable result brought about by the foolish confrontation policy and anti-people misrule of the European country officials. Many European countries now face a serious political and economic crisis. This cannot be separated from these countries' anti-Russia policy. The European countries, cutting off trade relations with Russia on the pretext of the Ukraine situation, plunged themselves into an energy crisis. By rejecting cheap Russian natural gas and importing liquefied natural gas several times more expensive, they are suffering enormous economic losses. With the Middle East situation added to this, Europe's energy shortage has reached an extreme. Owing to the rise in energy prices, prices are soaring and the number of corporate bankruptcies and the unemployed is greatly increasing. The European countries are still pouring enormous sums into support for Ukraine while dreaming the vain dream of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia. Huge amounts of money that should be turned to solving serious social problems such as improving the educational environment and resolving the housing crisis are being squandered on the Ukraine support racket, which is like pouring water into a bottomless pot. The huge military spending racket that European countries including Germany and France are staging under the pretext of preparing for the "Russian threat" is also driving these countries into a serious financial crisis. In Europe, in every country without exception, the budget deficit is increasing and state debt is enormously growing. In not a few countries including France, Greece and Belgium the state debt has already exceeded the gross domestic product. As the economic crisis deepens, social spending is decreasing and the living conditions of the working masses are worsening day by day. But the officials ignore the will and demands of the working masses and are frantically clinging to the implementation of monopoly conglomerate-oriented policies. This is becoming the factor that arouses the fury of people of all strata and causes popular protest demonstrations to take place everywhere. An organization in France that started a nationwide protest struggle demanding the improvement of the educational environment asserted that it is ready to continue the demonstrations unless the government takes concrete measures. The trade unions, too, having announced a general strike for November 5, expressed their will to expand the demonstrations until their demands are realized. In this situation the European countries, driven into an extreme crisis, are clinging to the responsibility-shifting racket with their stereotyped methods. The officials of these countries are seeking to cover up the essence of their anti-people policy, evade the crisis and heighten the anti-Russia mood by branding the people's protest struggle as following "Russian instigation". But such a conspiracy commotion is arousing strong backlash from Russia. Russia has expressed its stand that it will never overlook or connive at some European countries groundlessly accusing Russia in connection with the disorder created in their own countries. The ruling circles of the European countries may try to shift the responsibility for the present situation onto Russia, but it will be hard to calm the struggle of the enraged demonstrators with such tricks. Jon Jong Ho, staff reporter Russian President Asserts That the Establishment of a Multipolar World Is Irreversible Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking on October 28 at the Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, asserted that the trend of the establishment of a multipolar world becoming a reality is objective and irreversible. He stressed that the era when narrow state blocs decided the destiny of continents is completely coming to an end, and that instead a fairer world that will reflect the voices of all countries participating in international exchanges is arriving. Saying that the establishment of a multipolar world is of course not easy and is meeting resistance from countries not ready to accept such a reality, he denounced that countries steeped in the colonialist notions of the past are seeking to grow rich by swindling others. He exposed and condemned that the West is actively attempting to again bind the Africans in long-term economic subjugation and plunder them, and is mobilizing all the most ugly and brazen-faced means everywhere, such as tariff wars, illegal sanctions, economic coercion, blackmail and interference in internal affairs. [KCNA] Assertion of Cooperation among the Parliaments of the BRICS Member States Vyacheslav Volodin, chairman of the State Duma of Russia, mentioned that the parliaments of the BRICS member states should actively cooperate at the plenary session of the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum on October 26. He stated that since its founding BRICS has been transformed into a main pillar of a multipolar world and a fair world order based on the principles of equality and mutually beneficial cooperation, and into one of the large-scale economic centres attracting the attention of many countries of the world. He said that the BRICS member states should join forces and find ways to jointly cope with the global challenges they face, and that Russia advocates more active cooperation among the parliaments of the member states. He stressed that today artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming not only an opportunity but also a challenge, and that the parliaments of the member states must do everything to make AI serve humanity. [KCNA] Anti-Drug Operation The Turkish police recently detained 423 drug crime suspects in over 30 provinces. Also, large quantities of drugs were seized and drug cultivation sites were detected and destroyed, it is said. On October 28 the Ministry of Internal Affairs of that country announced that the operation to eradicate drug manufacturing and trafficking would continue. [KCNA] Accidents and Natural Disasters in Various Countries - In France many casualties were caused by drowning accidents during the period from May to August this year. According to data released by the country's health authorities on October 29, during this period 1,511 drowning accidents occurred nationwide, and over 440 people died. It is said that children under five accounted for 27 percent of the dead. - At a tourist site in Nevşehir province, Türkiye, an accident in which a natural stone pillar collapsed occurred on October 29. Three people died and five were wounded in the accident. On the same day, 15 people were wounded in a mine collapse accident at a mine in South Gobi Province, Mongolia. * * Human and material damage was caused in the eastern coastal area of India by the impact of a strong tropical depression. According to what the government of that country announced on October 28, owing to heavy rain and strong winds three people died, 180 dwelling houses were destroyed, 220 trees were blown down and the power supply was paralysed in several areas. Also, crops planted on large areas were ruined. The damage is said to be most severe in Andhra Pradesh state.
