At a time when the entire Korean people are redoubling their confidence and courage in their own cause and the future of their own struggle, and are vigorously accelerating the revolutionary advance to greet the 9th Party Congress with high political enthusiasm and brilliant labor achievements, we meaningfully celebrate the 84th birth anniversary of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il.

Today, when the dignity and prestige of Juche Korea are being exalted worldwide and the struggle for the overall prosperity of our style socialism is further heightened, the entire Korean people profoundly feel in their hearts the sacred image of the Great General who led the cause of building a prosperous and powerful fatherland along the path of a hundred victories and accumulated immortal achievements, and they deeply reflect on the profound weight and significance enshrined in February 16.

It is an iron truth engraved in the hearts of all people that thanks to this day, February 16, 1942, the lifeline of the Juche revolution and the tradition of a hundred victories of the Republic could be firmly continued, and a new era of comprehensive national revival could be proudly unfolded on this land.

All the people and the servicepersons of the Korean People's Army, greeting the auspicious February holiday, are respectfully offering the highest tribute and wishes for eternal life to the Great General, who provided the eternal foundation for the construction of a prosperous and powerful fatherland through his most active and self-sacrificing devotion, and they are filled with a burning resolve to erect a prosperous and powerful socialist state on this land as soon as possible, in keeping with the General's desire.

The Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il is a peerless patriot who perfectly embodied all the qualities and attributes required of a revolutionary leader at the highest level and accumulated colossal exploits that will shine forever for the prosperity of the country and the happiness of the people.

The Great General, born as a partisan's son on Mount Paektu, harbored the ambition to make Korea shine throughout the world, and throughout his revolutionary life, with his great revolutionary ideas and enormous practical leadership, led our country and people along the path of victory and glory. The ideological and theoretical wealth of the revolution prepared by the Great General throughout his life is a guiding guideline that our people must firmly uphold in socialist construction, a banner of a hundred victories, and the foundation for national prosperity he solidly laid is an eternal cornerstone that infinitely guarantees the victory of our revolutionary cause that began on Mount Paektu. The noble achievements of the Great General, who, possessed of an extraordinary sense of mission to be responsible for the destiny of the country and the people to the end, a lofty patriotism to become the strong root of a prosperous fatherland, and a fiery love for the people, devoted his whole life to laying the eternal foundation for the completion of the Juche revolutionary cause, will shine forever along with the ever-victorious cause of building a powerful nation and for all generations to come.

The cause of independence of the popular masses, the socialist cause, can advance victoriously only when there is a scientific revolutionary idea.

The Great General, with his extraordinary ideological and theoretical wisdom and far-sighted vision, clearly illuminated the path ahead for our country and people. It was the Great General who, through his day-and-night ideological and theoretical activities, formalized the revolutionary ideas of the Fatherly Leader as Kimilsungism and eternally glorified them as the eternal guiding ideology of the era of independence, providing an immortal guideline for the implementation of the cause of independence of the popular masses. The ideas and theories presented by the Great General, including the idea on Party building of Juche, the idea on economic construction and cultural construction, the theory on the succession and development of revolutionary traditions, and the theory on establishing Juche in revolution and construction, are a banner of a hundred victories that must be firmly upheld in the struggle for the realization of the cause of building a powerful nation. It was because the great ideas of the peerless great man, characterized by contemporaneity, originality, philosophical profundity, encyclopedic nature, and popularity, brightly illuminated the path of advance that our people could advance unwaveringly towards a new horizon of a prosperous and powerful country, without the slightest deviation from the immutable path of socialism.

Today, our country, holding the great Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism as its only guiding guideline, shines brilliantly as a powerful country advancing with the power of the great truth contained in the revolutionary idea. All the dignity and prestige of our Republic, shining on the pedestal of the century and being exalted ever higher, cannot be considered apart from the noble ideological and theoretical achievements of the Great General. Our people, holding the revolutionary ideas of the Great General as their lifeline, will hasten the day of a prosperous and powerful, foremost country on this land.

The Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il was an outstanding statesman who built a country of single-hearted unity, where an unprecedented ideological monolithic unity was realized on this land.

A leader who leaves behind single-hearted unity, a political weapon guaranteeing the destiny of the country and the revolution and the future of all generations, as a precious legacy, will be praised by posterity forever.

The Great General, early on, put forward single-hearted unity as the revolutionary philosophy of our Party and the fundamental principle of our revolution, and devoted the greatest effort to strengthening single-hearted unity throughout his revolutionary leadership. It was the firm will of the Great General that the single center of unity should be the Leader and the ideological basis of unity should be the Leader's revolutionary ideas, and absolute trust in comrades and boundless devotion, giving everything for comrades, were the noble features of the Great General. Under the banner of the comprehensive Kimilsungism-ization of the whole society, the Great General's efforts to firmly unite the entire Party, the entire army, and the entire people ideologically and volitionally, and to bind all people into a powerful monolithic whole united by comradely love and loyalty, are incalculable. Under the banner of "single-mindedness" raised by the Great General, a revolutionary discipline and order was established in all areas of state and social life, where only the Leader's ideas and leadership are followed, and a new appearance of Korea was born, where all people unite with one mind and one step.

Single-hearted unity is the core of the politico-ideological might of our country, and the power firmly united ideologically and volitionally, and morally and loyally, around the Leader is infinite. Thanks to the Great General's Songun march, who, in such difficult times when trials and obstacles overlapped before the country, highly hoisted the banner of Songun and traversed the rugged path of life-and-death decision, our Korean People's Army could grow and strengthen into an army of ideology and faith infinitely loyal to the Party's cause, a Juche-oriented revolutionary force capable of undertaking both national defense and socialist construction, and our defense industry could transform into a self-reliant and modern arms factory of the Juche revolution. Thanks to the heavenly benevolence of the Great General, who solidly built up the self-defensive capability to protect ourselves from all threats of hostile forces and led the unprecedented sacred war for socialism to consecutive victories, our people could fully enjoy the dignity, glory, and proud life as an independent people and concentrate all efforts on the construction of a civilized and prosperous country.

Self-reliance was the revolutionary method and revolutionary creed consistently maintained by the Great General throughout the period of socialist construction. The Great General, who vigorously kindled the flames of self-reliance education throughout the country and implanted the faith of independence and the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance like a rock in the hearts of all officials, Party members, and workers, also inspired confidence and courage in scientists and technicians to surpass the world based on our own strength and technology, and led the country to maintain the framework of a self-supporting economy and firmly preserve its lifeline even in such difficult times. Under the wise leadership of the Great General, who held self-reliance as the treasured sword of prosperity in socialist construction, modern production bases rose everywhere, the face of the country was renewed, and our revolutionary base was built into a strong base defended by a large contingent of excellent scientists and technicians firmly armed with the Juche idea and the people possessing a high level of knowledge and abundant experience in self-reliance.

Our country's invincible self-defensive capability, which no one dares challenge, and the ever-strengthening potential of the self-supporting economy are directly linked to the sacred achievements accomplished by the Great General throughout his life. Our people, regarding the invincible military strength and the foundation of self-reliance, exchanged for the Great General's immeasurable efforts, as an eternal asset, will advance more dynamically and courageously towards comprehensive national revival.

The immortal revolutionary achievements of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il in realizing the cause of building a Juche-oriented socialist powerhouse are being brilliantly inherited and developed at a new high stage today, holding the respected General Secretary in high esteem. The world of great thought of the respected General Secretary is filled with the single-minded determination to uphold the patriotic and national prosperity aspirations of the Great General and to erect on this land a socialist ideal country envied by the world. The immortal leadership of the respected General Secretary, who ensures that the history of the Great General's patriotic devotion continues vigorously on this land, reaches every corner for the development of our country, and the sacred traces of the peerless great man are imprinted everywhere for our people. The fact that even in such harsh national difficulties, modern dwelling houses line up unfailingly every year in the capital and rural areas, that the transformation of local areas is accelerated with commencement and completion in the same year, and that a great upsurge of comprehensive national development is unfolding with continuous innovations and changes in all fields, is the precious fruition of the sleepless, tireless efforts and devotion of the respected General Secretary, who is brilliantly continuing the patriotic achievements of the Great General as the ever-victorious history of growth and development of the Republic.

It is the steadfast will of our people that, as the peerlessly great man, the respected General Secretary, leads our revolution and our style socialism, the aspirations for the construction of a prosperous and powerful socialist state, so desired by the Great General during his lifetime, will be fully realized, and the final victory of the Juche revolutionary cause will undoubtedly be hastened.

All Party members, people, and servicepersons of the Korean People's Army, following the leadership of the respected General Secretary, must further spur the bold and offensive struggle for a higher qualitative development of socialist construction, thereby erecting on this land as soon as possible a foremost country, admired by the world, in keeping with the Great General's desire.

The achievements of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il in building a prosperous and powerful fatherland are an eternal cornerstone for the prosperity of our Republic.

We must conduct all projects holding Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism as the eternal guiding guideline for national construction, and resolutely defend and uphold the revolutionary achievements accumulated by the Great General in all sectors and all units. We must vigorously wage the struggle to brilliantly realize the patriotic and national prosperity aspirations of the Great General, so that the General's immortal revolutionary history continues endlessly on this land.

We must faithfully uphold the ideas and leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un with one mind and one heart.

We must hold the ideas and leadership of the respected General Secretary as our lifeline and defend the General Secretary politically and ideologically, with our very lives. We must more firmly establish the monolithic leadership system of the respected General Secretary throughout the Party and the whole society, thoroughly establish a revolutionary discipline that moves as one in accordance with the conclusions of the General Secretary, and responsibly and perfectly execute the tasks assigned by the Party Central Committee. National United Meeting of the Korean Children's Union Held

The national united meeting of the Korean Children's Union celebrating the 84th birth anniversary of the Great Leader Marshal Kim Jong Il took place in the capital city of Pyongyang on the 15th.

The venue was astir with boundless reverence for the Great Marshal, who brought up the growing generations as precious treasures of the country and reliable pillars who will shoulder the future of the fatherland, and who devoted everything for the happiness and bright future of the posterity.

Present at the meeting were children of the Mangyongdae Revolutionary School and the Chilgol Revolutionary School, representatives of the Children's Union from each province, schoolchildren in Pyongyang, and students joining the Korean Children's Union.

Invited to the meeting were Comrade Kim Su Gil, responsible secretary of the Pyongyang City Committee of the WPK, Comrade Kim Jong Sun, department director of the Central Committee of the WPK, officials of the youth league, and contributors and labor innovators in the city.

Comrade Mun Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, made a report.

The reporter said that along with the meaningful February holiday, overflowing with ardent longing for the peerlessly great man throughout the country, the national united meeting of the Korean Children's Union is being held to celebrate the 84th birth anniversary of the Great Leader Marshal Kim Jong Il.

He mentioned that the Great Marshal, at the young age of ten, formed the General Kim Il Sung's guerrilla study group, leading the schoolchildren to deeply study the Leader's revolutionary history and grow into young revolutionaries who know the value of the fatherland.

The reporter stressed that the history of noble love for the posterity continues vigorously on this land, holding the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un in high esteem.

He mentioned that the respected fatherly Marshal, who finds the greatest joy and pleasure in the bright laughter of the posterity, bestows great affection by awarding the Kim Jong Il Children's Honor Prize to exemplary Children's Union members every year on the occasion of the February holiday, and ensures that the founding anniversary of the Korean Children's Union is meaningfully celebrated as a national holiday.

He said with emotion that the respected Marshal, who met schoolchildren performing in the holiday performance on the meaningful Lunar New Year's Day this year, had a loving commemorative photo taken with them, and blessed their bright future, is truly the benevolent father of all Children's Union members in the country.

He emphasized that all Children's Union members should never forget that with the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un, our country is powerful and the hopes and bright future of the new generations exist, and they should firmly prepare themselves as true sons and daughters who only trust and follow the fatherly Marshal.

He mentioned that the Children's Union members should bear in mind that the hallmark of a young revolutionary and young patriot is top grades, study hard, and become useful revolutionary talents demanded by the times.

He said that they should consider it their sacred duty and obligation to cherish most dearly the honor of being a member of the Korean Children's Union and participate consciously and faithfully in organizational life, and always recall the oath they took when joining the Union and live according to the requirements of the Children's Union rules anytime, anywhere.

He emphasized that they should cultivate noble moral qualities, train their physique stoutly, and actively conduct the movement to do good deeds to contribute to the national economy and socio-political activities to encourage the labor struggle of fathers and mothers who devote themselves to the prosperity of the country.

At the meeting, a ceremony of admission into the Korean Children's Union took place.

At the suggestion of Comrade Kim Su Gil, the students joining the Children's Union took the oath.

The students newly admitted to the Korean Children's Union responded vigorously to the slogan "Always be ready for the socialist fatherland!" and gave their first greetings as members of the Children's Union.

Then followed congratulatory addresses by Bae Ji Song, manager of Kim Il Sung University, Mun Kang Sun, workshop manager of the Kim Jong Suk Pyongyang Textile Mill, and Han Il Ryong, marathon athlete of the Amnokgang Sports Team.

They congratulated the students who joined the Korean Children's Union on the occasion of the Day of the Shining Star and urged them to grow into pillars of the country with ardent patriotism.

The national united meeting of the Korean Children's Union powerfully demonstrated the vigorous spirit of the new generations preparing themselves as reliable successors of the revolution who will shoulder the future of socialist Korea, following the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un.
