The monumental architectural complex, Saebyol Street, embodying the ardent hearts of all the people who will forever transmit the star‑like feats of the overseas military operation veterans who unhesitatingly gave their only lives for the immortal honor and eternal prosperity of our great motherland, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, has risen with unique grandeur on an auspicious site in Hwasong District, the capital city Pyongyang. To shine forever the noble lives of the country’s fine sons for posterity, the respected Kim Jong Un initiated the construction of a new street for the families of the veterans, named the street, and energetically guided the entire construction process so that every element of the buildings reflects the warm devotion of our Party and state to the blood relatives left behind by the soldiers. The dazzling vista of distinctive architectural complexes, where high‑rise and medium/low‑rise residential houses and public buildings including commercial and service facilities, all equipped with sculptural and artistic quality, practicality and convenience, achieve ideal harmony, is an immortal picture embodying the sublime moral obligation and ardent love of our Party, which holds the families of the martyrs side by side on the pedestal of honor along with the heroes respected and upheld by the whole country, enabling them to fully enjoy the beautiful life of the homeland defended by the martyrs at the cost of their lives. The inauguration ceremony of Saebyol Street was grandly held on February 15. The ceremony venue seethed with the emotion and joy of the soldier‑builders who erected the extraordinary new street upholding the will and intent of the Party Central Committee, and the bereaved families who will settle in new homes blessed by the whole country. The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un attended the ceremony. He was greeted by the commanding officers of the Korean People's Army Overseas Operations Units. Kim Jong Un warmly met and exchanged greetings with the commanding officers and conveyed a militant salute to all service personnel of the overseas operations units. All participants raised passionate cheers looking up to the great parent who elevates the veterans and their bereaved families to the peak of glory with warm kinship and unfolds a grand plan of noble love and loyalty. Present at the ceremony were leading officials of the Party, government and military, members of the Party Central leadership bodies, bereaved families of fallen veterans, combatants dispatched to overseas military operations, officers and men of engineer units, commanders of the Ministry of National Defence and service personnel of various people's army units, builders, faculty and students of revolutionary schools, and citizens of Pyongyang. Comrade Kim Jong Un made a speech commemorating the inauguration. Kim Jong Un expressed his emotion on the meaningful day when Saebyol Street is inscribed as a new address of our capital, upheld by the ardent wish of the motherland, and said, “The completion of the street bearing the name Saebyol, which is etched in everyone's hearts as a byword for the brilliant lives of the veterans, embodies the strength of Korea and symbolizes the greatness of the Korean people, marking an emotional moment that records in the history of Pyongyang the most heroic era that defended sacred dignity and honor.” Kim Jong Un stated, “Saebyol Street is the honor of our generation and also the pride of Pyongyang and the pride of our country. With today's inauguration that forever preserves the names and images of the martyrs, the martyrs may attain eternal life, and this street, imbued with their noble souls and gathering the respect of the whole country, may always overflow with happiness and joy.” Kim Jong Un cut the inauguration tape. At that moment, enthusiastic cheers erupted, along with fireworks, and countless balloons bearing five‑pointed stars soared into the sky. Certificates of residential use were presented to the bereaved families of the fallen veterans. Kim Jong Un, together with leading officials of the Party, government and military, handed over the certificates of residential use in the name of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea to the bereaved families. The bereaved families, looking up to the benevolent parent who, harboring the sorrow and regret of not being able to present the country's brave sons who created heroic myths that amaze the world to their parents and wives, bestows endless love and affection like the sea, bowed in gratitude with tears of emotion. A commemorative performance unfolded on Saebyol Street, vibrating with the huge flag of the dignified Democratic People's Republic of Korea fluttering high in the sky. Songs evoking boundless respect and sublime reverence for the martyrs who displayed to the world the combat power of our military through mass heroism and matchless spirit of sacrifice found nowhere else in any army, and who faithfully upheld the orders of the country by giving their lives without sparing, stirred the hearts of the participants. As the national anthem of the DPRK, which our heroes sang with their hearts on every battlefield, longing for the eternal prosperity of our country, solemnly resounded, the hearts of the participants blazed with the resolve to devote all their patriotic fervor to further glorifying the dignity and honor of the homeland defended by the martyrs with their lives. On Saebyol Street, where every home is imbued with the sky‑high benevolence of the Marshal, who bestows endless happiness and glory on the bereaved families by pouring out the affection and love that could not be fully given to the veterans, a heart‑warming picture of great love and loyalty unfolded. Kim Jong Un met with the bereaved families who will move into the new homes. Kim Jong Un said warmly, “With the completion of the street for the families of the fallen veterans, the heroic images of the combatants who ended their lives wishing for the prosperity of the country and the flourishing of Pyongyang even in the face of death come to mind vividly. Cultivating, defending and glorifying this land imbued with their wishes and souls more richly and beautifully is the greatest tribute to their noble lives.” Kim Jong Un said, “It is the proper vocation and sublime mission of our Party and government to take full responsibility and care with all sincerity for the destiny and life of the parents who raised the veterans, the models of patriots and heroes among heroes, who fought unhesitatingly sacrificing their precious lives solely upholding the orders of the country without expecting any reward, and of their wives and children who were their strength and support.” Kim Jong Un visited the home of Kim Jong‑ok, wife of fallen veteran O Thae‑chol, and looked around the rooms and kitchen, listening with parental affection to the impressions of the family who received the new home. Kim Jong Un said, “Receiving a good home might make you miss your husband more. You should overcome sorrow quickly and live happily.” He blessed the future of her son studying at the Mangyongdae Revolutionary School, hoping “he would follow in his father's footsteps and become a fine person.” Kim Jong Un also visited the home of Mun Ryong‑mo and Ryu Sung‑nam, who gave their twin sons to the country, and said, “It is thanks to such patriotic families that our country stands firm and advances without pause along the road of prosperity.” Kim Jong Un said, “Now our Party and government will take full care of the bereaved families. I wish you to enjoy happiness in your good homes for a long time.” He left a picture of love overflowing with kinship. Kim Jong Un also stopped by the family of Kim Dong‑chun, a twice Hero of the Republic, and warmly blessed the bereaved families who bowed in boundless gratitude, overwhelmed with emotion as if in a dream, having received such happiness. Kim Jong Un said, “Now that the bereaved families have settled in the capital and are able to enjoy the beautiful life of the country before others, it seems the pent‑up sorrow in their hearts is somewhat relieved. The veterans who performed great feats that will remain in history for the eternal prosperity and might of our country, and their families, deserve the highest glory and honor bestowed by the country and people.” Kim Jong Un once again stressed, “Party and government officials should regard the preferential and special measures for the bereaved families as an important policy issue, implement them thoroughly, and always pay deep attention to their lives so that they have no inconveniences, however small.” Saebyol Street, overflowing with the great parent's familial affection, grew ever warmer as time passed. The bereaved families, now owners of the new street, looked around their happy homes. Looking around the homes equipped with all living conditions at the highest level, they realized with all their souls how great the Marshal's benevolence and our Party's love are. Saebyol Street, a condensation of our Party and people's eternal gratitude and reverence for the overseas military operation heroes, will forever transmit the new legend of love and loyalty blooming in the great Kim Jong Un era, and along with its noble name, will shine brilliantly year after year.
