Speech of Respected Comrade KIM JONG UN at the Completion Ceremony of Saebyol Street

Present here today are families of martyred veterans, combatants who were dispatched to overseas military operations, and soldiers of the engineer corps.

Also present are officers and men of the Korean People's Army at all levels, including commanders of the Ministry of National Defense, faculty and students of revolutionary academies, builders who were mobilized for the construction of Saebyol Street, and citizens of Pyongyang.

Comrades!

The meaningful day has arrived when Saebyol Street, which has drawn the ardent sincerity and respectful gaze of the entire Korean people, has been completed and inscribed as a new address of our capital.

Built in response to the fervent desire of the motherland that the noble lives of the worthy sons, who dedicated their most precious to defend the most sacred, be eternally perpetuated, the new street awaits the moment to greet its precious inhabitants.

I had urged and waited so eagerly, thinking that advancing this day even by one day would bring some consolation, but now that I stand here, I cannot suppress a feeling of apology that outweighs joy.

Once again, I pay the highest tribute to our distinguished war veterans and offer, on behalf of our army servicemen, citizens of Pyongyang, and all the Korean people, words of consolation and gratitude to all the bereaved families, the owners of the new street.

I also extend profound thanks to the capital builders, soldiers of the KPA, officials of relevant sectors, and workers who, with immense respect and loyalty to our heroes, splendidly completed Saebyol Street.

Comrades!

At this moment, a solemn emotion different from all that we felt when facing the creations erected throughout the country flows here.

The name Saebyol Street has already been enshrined in everyone's hearts as a byword for the lives of the veterans who, responding to the call of the motherland on distant battlefields, bore a weight beyond a single lifetime and remained so brave until their last moments.

This moment is an emotional one that records in the history of Pyongyang the most heroic era, embodying the strength of Korea, symbolizing the greatness of the Korean people, and defending sacred dignity and honor.

Saebyol Street is the honor of our generation, and also the pride of Pyongyang and the pride of our country.

Dear bereaved families!

With the construction of this street, the martyrs are now brought close to the warm scent of their beloved flesh and blood and the familiar homestead they yearned for so unbearably in distant lands.

It would bring me immense joy if, in this place where you can feel their affectionate breath every day and every moment, you take everlasting pride in having such worthy sons, husbands, and fathers, and live happily for generations.

I sincerely wish that the comrades-in-arms who shared the bloody path with the martyrs, the families of KPA soldiers and military families who sent their beloved children and husbands to the posts of national defense, and everyone in this country, rejoicing in today's completion, will live happily, carrying on the lives that the owners of this new street could not live to the full.

The Party and government will take various measures so that the beloved families, whom the fallen heroes would have envisioned living on the increasingly prosperous land of the motherland, enjoy a proud and rewarding life under state preferential treatment and the care of the whole society.

May this street, enshrined with noble souls and gathering the respect of the entire nation, always overflow with happiness and joy.

That will be the repayment to those who have departed.

On this street, we have hoisted high the dignified national flag of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

It is the flag that the combatants cherished in their hearts as they traversed the bloody path, and the flag that warmly embraced the worthy sons and brought them back to the bosom of the motherland.

Its brilliant light and mighty flutter will connect the noble souls and heartbeats of the martyrs to the robust breath of the beautiful and prosperous capital, Pyongyang, and perpetuate the glory of the great fatherland.

The moment of cutting the completion tape for the new street will be recorded in history as a moment of glory that eternally preserves the names and images of the war veterans for all generations.

Today, we are meaningfully celebrating the 84th anniversary of the birth of the great leader Kim Jong Il in a stirring atmosphere where, thanks to the genius wisdom and outstanding leadership of the respected Kim Jong Un, an unprecedented great prosperity period of construction, the heyday of self-reliance and dignity, is unfolding, and the dynamic momentum of implementing the regional development policy, which expands and deepens year after year, together with the thunderous sounds of grand groundbreaking ceremonies that assure a brilliant prospect, are continuously resounding all over our country.

The Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, on the occasion of the auspicious February holiday, pays the highest tribute to the great leader Kim Jong Il, who devoted his whole life to the prosperity of the fatherland and the happiness of the people, and extends the greatest glory and warmest congratulations to the respected Kim Jong Un, who, armed with the iron will to surely build a flourishing world-class paradise on this land as intended by the great General, is opening a heyday unprecedented in the history of the fatherland.

On this meaningful February holiday that opened the great fortune of Korea, we are deeply reflecting on the immortal achievements of the Father General, who trusted and loved Chongryon and Koreans in Japan so much.

Born as the son of a partisan, hearing the gunfire of the anti-Japanese war as a lullaby amidst the snowstorms of Mt. Paektu, and growing up as a great son of the country and people, our great General devoted his all to the prosperity of the fatherland and the happiness of the people.

For over half a century of tireless revolutionary leadership, the great General not only led the socialist cause along the path of victory but also left a noble patriotic legacy that will remain immortal even in the distant future.

Because the great General illuminated the path forward for us at every stage and period of the development of the Korean residents' movement in Japan, Chongryon could firmly establish Juche in ideology, create traditions of unity and love for the nation, become an organization with a strong organizational structure, a patriotic mass of compatriots, and a systematic national education system, and build a harmonious and powerful compatriot community.

Even during the severe days of the Arduous March, the Father General sent educational aid funds and scholarships without fail for the democratic national education of Chongryon and for the children of Koreans in Japan; whenever compatriots suffered from natural disasters, he sent consolation telegrams and funds that became the lifeline for regeneration; and he firmly protected Chongryon and Koreans in Japan from all sorts of repressive and persecutory moves by reactionaries.

Indeed, the great General is the outstanding leader who raised Chongryon to be a pioneer of patriotism, a model of patriotic devotion, and an example for overseas compatriot organizations worldwide, and he is the true father of Koreans in Japan.

The history of Chongryon, which the great General brilliantly adorned with his whole life, is continuing more dazzlingly under the lofty guidance of the respected Kim Jong Un.

Even in his truly busy schedule commanding the all-people general advance to make the 9th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea a congress of victory and glory, the respected Marshal sent a love-filled New Year's message to Chairman Ho Jong Man of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon on the first day of the new year, took a commemorative photo with the members of the Korean Students' Art Troupe in Japan who performed at the Lunar New Year's performance, and bestowed the highest honor and trust by entrusting the main members of the art troupe to excellently raise the new generations of Chongryon as reliable workers who will carry on the baton of the patriotic cause.

This year, we will uphold the revolutionary ideas and leadership of the respected Kim Jong Un with single-hearted devotion, present clear goals and strategies for the new struggle period towards the 80th anniversary of Chongryon's founding at the 26th General Meeting, as clarified in the Programmatic May 25 Letter and the New Year's message, and take vigorous strides to brilliantly adorn the historic year 2026 as a year of new transition and transformation, for the successful fulfillment of the patriotic tasks in the first year.

At the 26th General Meeting of Chongryon, we will establish milestones for writing a great new history of the Korean residents' movement in Japan, inheriting the patriotic spirit of the founding generation. Taking the General Meeting as a starting point, we will firmly switch all work to new struggle methods and elevate the patriotic mass movement through intense, continuous struggle.

We will prioritize thoroughly establishing the Juche idea system and leadership system within the ranks and solidifying all levels of organizations and groups like a rock, while consistently focusing on the three main tasks: protecting rights and interests, fostering new generations, and preserving national identity.

By solidly climbing the development ladder year by year in the new decade-long struggle, when a socialist power where all the people enjoy happiness and prosperity rises in the motherland, Chongryon will also become, in name and reality, a true compatriot-first organization serving the compatriot masses faithfully.

The well-being of the respected Marshal is the unanimous and earnest desire of all Chongryon officials and compatriots.
