A national memorial service took place here Sunday, the 70th anniversary of demise of the anti-Japanese war heroine Kim Jong Suk.

Present at the memorial service were senior officials of the Party and government, officials of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), ministries, national institutions and armed forces organs, teachers and students of Mangyongdae Revolutionary School, officials of institutions and industrial establishments and persons of merits in Pyongyang.

Pak Kwang Ho, member of the Political Bureau and vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the WPK, made a memorial address.

He said that Kim Jong Suk, who was born into a patriotic and revolutionary family and embarked on the road of revolutionary struggle in her teens, devoted her whole life to the country, people and victory of revolution with the ardent loyalty to President Kim Il Sung.

He noted that she displayed matchless valor in the armed unit under the personal command of Kim Il Sung and rendered distinguished service to the accomplishment of the historic cause of national liberation through remarkable military and political activities during the anti-Japanese armed struggle.

He pointed out that after the liberation of Korea she made great contributions to founding the Party, regular revolutionary armed forces and the DPRK in hearty response to the President's line of building a new country and giving continuity to the revolutionary cause of Juche.

He said that Kim Jong Suk was the greatest model revolutionary fighter and loyalist with whom no one could match in terms of transparent revolutionary outlook on the leader, devotion and self-sacrificing spirit to the leader's cause. He went on:

She was a true daughter and faithful servant of the people who regarded the President's boundlessly simple and popular trait as a model and fully embodied it.

She brought up the bright star of Mt Paektu in the tempest of revolution and devoted all sincerity and heart and soul to training Chairman Kim Jong Il as the genuine successor identical to the President in idea, pluck and trait till the last moments of her life.

The speaker said that the great exploits of Kim Jong Suk who brought up the lodestar of revolution with the noble sense of obligation to the future of the country and loving care so that the Korean people have been blessed with illustrious leaders generation after generation will shine forever along with the sacred history of Juche Korea.
