Chairman Kim Jong Un guides artillery fire competition of large combined units of KPA in western sector of front

Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, guided an artillery fire competition between large combined units of the Korean People's Army in the western sector of the front on March 20.

The competition was also aimed at making a sudden inspection and evaluation of how the artillery forces in the western sector of the front are getting themselves ready to implement the Party's policy on strengthening artillery forces, taking measures and awakening all units, at fundamentally improving the form, content and method of artillery drills and at conducting drills practically to cope with an actual war.

It was participated in by artillery units under Corps 3, 4 and 8 of the KPA.

In the competition the units' advance to the line for performing firepower tasks was evaluated and artillery pieces of various calibres in the fixed distance opened fire into the target islet according to the firing sequence set by drawing lots. The winner was chosen by combining the firing results and the time taken to execute the mission.

At the observation post Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un heard a report of the Chief of the General Staff on the sequence and method of the competition before guiding it.

On his order, the corps commanders directly commanded the firing of artillery pieces at the observation post.

The artillery units in the western sector of the front made surprising results in the competition through marksmanship they have trained at ordinary drills, fully demonstrating their combat capabilities to cope with an actual war.

Comrade Kim Jong Un said with satisfaction that the artillerymen in the western sector of the front, those of Corp 3 in particular, are good at gunning as if shooting at targets with small arms.

He received a report on the General Staff's evaluation of the competition results from the Chief of the General Staff.

In the competition Corps 3 had an overwhelming victory over other corps and Corps 8 and 4 came second and third.

Comrade Kim Jong Un was so satisfied with the combat readiness of Corps 3 that he left on the master gunner certificate awarded to the artillery battalion under the corps which made remarkable results with surprising marksmanship in the competition his meaningful autograph reading:

"I admire the surprising combat capability of the battalion. I am very satisfied and give special thanks to it.

Kim Jong Un. March 20, 2020".

Army General Pak Jong Chon, Chief of the General Staff of the KPA, awarded master gunner certificates, medals and badges to artillery battalions and companies which proved successful in the competition.

Comrade Kim Jong Un gave important instructions on the direction of military and political work including the issue on intensifying the drills of all units of the People's Army in keeping with the demand of the prevailing situation.

Chairman Kim Jong Un watches demonstration fire of tactical guided missiles

Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, watched a demonstration fire of tactical guided missiles on March 21.

The demonstration fire was seen by Ri Pyong Chol, Vice-Chairman of the Central Committee of the WPK, and other senior officials of Party Central Committee, General Pak Jong Chon, Chief of the General Staff of the KPA, and commanders of the army corps.

It was aimed to reconfirm the tactical specifications and power of the new weapon system to be delivered to units of the People's Army and show them to the leading personnel of the People's Army.

When Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un gave an order of fire, the Juche missiles were launched, sending out blinding flashes with a terrific explosion shaking the sky and earth.

The launched tactical guided missiles hit the target island precisely.

The demonstration fire clearly showed the characteristics of the differently-set flying orbits and falling angles, the rate of hits of the guided missile and the power of its warhead.

Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

The consecutive development of new weapon systems of Korean style is a great event in the development and change of the armed forces of our state. Such success is a brilliant fruition of the Party's correct line on the development of the independent defence industry and on attaching importance to defence science; it is a clear demonstration of the might of our defence science and defence industry.

The new weapon systems we have developed recently and the tactical and strategic weapon systems under development will make a decisive contribution to realizing the strategic plan of our Party to drastically change the defence strategy of the country. We should more firmly consolidate the striking power to annihilate any enemy outside the territory if they dare to attempt military action against our state. This is the goal of defence upbuilding of our Party and the most perfect national defence strategy and the reliable war deterrent.

Comrade Kim Jong Un gave tasks of different defence scientific research institutions for implementing the Party's line on development of independent defence industry and important instructions on the orientation of new struggle in the field of munitions industry.
