Day of Shining Star Marked in Russia

The United Confederation of Koreans in Russia held an event at its building on February 12 to mark the birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il (Day of the Shining Star).

Attending the event were members of the confederation, Koreans in Russia and members of the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK. The event was attended by Andrey Shin, Executive Secretary of International Union "BOMMINRYONG", member of the Coordination Committee of the DPRK ISG.

Kim Chil Song, chairman of the United Confederation of Koreans in Russia, made a congratulatory speech to be followed by others.

Speakers highly praised Kim Jong Il as the great teacher who enriched the Juche idea with his energetic ideological and theoretical activities and provided a powerful ideological and theoretical weapon to the progressives aspiring after a new world free from aggression and war.

They said that socialist Korea is now demonstrating its might as an invincible power thanks to the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who is carrying forward the idea and cause of Kim Jong Il.

Sok Song, first vice-chairman of the confederation, cordially notified that Kim Jong Un was elected as general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), according to the unanimous will of all the members of the Party.

The participants extended the highest glory and warmest congratulations to Kim Jong Un upon his election as general secretary of the WPK.

Sok Song talked in detail about the 8th Congress of the WPK and the tasks set forth at the Congress.

A performance was given by Korean artistes in Russia.

Put on the stage were colorful numbers including the immortal revolutionary hymn "Song of General Kim Jong Il", the immortal classic "Jindallae" (Azalea) and dance "Puchaechum" (dance with fans).
