They said they were greatly impressed by the spiritual world of the fatherland youth who, possessing noble traits that cannot be found among the youth of any other country in the world, are writing the autobiography of their youth with the blood and sweat of loyalty and patriotism. The Chairman of the Osaka Prefecture Headquarters of Chochong opened his excited heart, saying that through the commemorative events, he keenly felt the image of the fatherland youth who confront hardship and trials, not seeking ease and pleasure. The feelings of the Chairman of the Saitama Prefecture Headquarters of Chochong, who had come to the fatherland last October as a member of the delegation of the Loyalty Letter Relay of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan to celebrate the 80th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea, were the same. Ma Ryong Hwa, a student of the Faculty of Political Economy of Korea University, said that while watching the torchlight procession in which powerful letters such as “Death-Defying Defence”, “Youth Vanguard”, “Supreme Death-Defying Corps”, “Heroic Youth”, “Scout” and “Special Unit” were inscribed, his determination to learn from the fatherland youth who faithfully discharge their mission as successors, dedicating their precious youth entirely to the call of the times and the fatherland, grew firmer. Kang Jong Hwang, a student of the Faculty of Business Administration, also expressed his determination to keep pace with the fatherland youth who advance vigorously towards the future in the trust and expectation of the fatherland and people. The Chochong officials and members in the foreign land, who steeled their firm determination during the meaningful days of visiting the fatherland, are putting it into practice. School Founding Anniversary Events Held Splendidly The national education of Chongryon is the root of the movement of Koreans in Japan and the unchanging lifeline of the patriotic cause yesterday, today and tomorrow. It is a powerful weapon that crushes the vicious national assimilation manoeuvres of the reactionaries. Recently, several schools including Chongryon's Nishitokyo Korean No. 1 Elementary and Middle School, Hiroshima Korean Elementary, Middle and High School, and Amagasaki Korean Elementary and Middle School splendidly marked the 80th founding anniversary. The compatriot society in the relevant areas was bustling as if it were a holiday. In the 80-year history of these schools, the patriotic loyalty of countless compatriots who vigorously flew the flag of the Republic in the stormy foreign land and safeguarded the Chongryon organization and the garden of national education is permeated. Looking back on those unforgettable days, compatriots from all walks of life gathered at the venues of the founding anniversary events. The graduates who visited their affectionate alma mater could not suppress their emotion, saying that in the bright schoolyard, they not only learned our language and letters, but also cultivated the ambition to fully bloom the garden of patriotism in the foreign land, upholding the noble intentions of the peerless great men. The founding anniversary events served as an occasion to once again powerfully demonstrate the firm will of the compatriots to forever glorify our schools year after year. Into a Lively Branch The Chuo Branch of the Kokura Chapter of Chongryon's Fukuoka Prefecture is a branch rebuilt by the joint efforts of compatriots from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, under the slogan “Let the new generations become the protagonists and strengthen the branch.” Jin Sang Gyu, a compatriot who greatly contributed to the successful holding of “Our Nation Unity” in 2019 as the Vice-Chairman of the Kyushu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, later took the lead in undertaking the duty of branch chief, even though he was extremely busy working as the education chief of the Chongryon chapter and a director of the education council of Kyushu Korean Elementary, Middle and High School. The branch committee members, including him, frequently gathered and enthusiastically discussed ways to bring about an epochal advance in the struggle for strengthening the branch and put them into practice. They frequently visited the homes of compatriots, informed them of school news and news of the compatriot society, and united the compatriots. They also held various events in cooperation with the women's union branch. During those days, the Chuo Branch was awarded the titles of “Model Branch of Patriotism and Love for the Nation in the New Heyday” (Comprehensive Model Branch) and “Branch United in One Heart and One Mind”. Not content with this, the branch committee members are striving even harder. Their will to consistently hold fast to the four major tasks for strengthening the branch and to continuously heighten the enthusiasm for harmony, unity and patriotism in the compatriot society is firm. Staff Reporter Ho Yong Min Contempt for Women and Discrimination against Women Are Chronic Malignant Diseases of Capitalism Ensuring women's rights is a very important socio-political issue related to the development of each country and nation and the future of humankind. Just as there cannot be a world without women, there can be no social development without the role of women. The rights of women, who account for half of the world's population, should naturally be respected and thoroughly guaranteed. However, the reality unfolding in capitalist countries, which talk so much about “civilization” and “prosperity”, is truly beyond imagination. Countless women are groaning in poverty and rightlessness, becoming the object of discrimination and contempt. Gender equality and the guarantee of women's rights remain only as lines in legal codes. The emergence of female presidents, female ministers, female parliament members, etc. in Western countries cannot define capitalism as a society where gender equality is realized and women's rights are guaranteed. In capitalist society, where corrupt ideas and morals dominate and the exploitation of man by man is legalized, the privileges enjoyed by certain women are nothing more than an illusion that can never be realized for the absolute majority of working women who cannot even secure their basic right to survival. The so-called women's rights guarantee system in Western countries is deceptive and hypocritical, intended only for women of certain strata and those backed by money. In capitalist society, where bourgeois politicians shout about “equality of all people” and “respect for human rights”, severe discrimination, contempt and persecution against women are becoming commonplace. Let us take the most fundamental right to work among human rights. Article 11 of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, adopted at the 34th Session of the UN General Assembly in 1979, stipulates that States Parties shall ensure women the right to non-discriminatory employment and labour, including the right to freely choose a profession on an equal basis with men, to receive equal remuneration with men, to prohibit dismissal on the grounds of pregnancy or maternity leave, and to introduce a maternity leave system with pay or comparable social benefits. However, in Western countries, women are the last object in employment, while they are the first object in dismissal. In the capitalist world, enterprises are going bankrupt one after another every day due to the chronic economic crisis. Entrepreneurs are conducting large-scale dismissal operations under the pretext of covering operating losses, and as a result, the number of unemployed is increasing. The proportion of women here is very high. Even in the case of women who have fortunately found jobs, they are paid less than men for doing the same work. In the United States, said to be the “model” of capitalism, the average wage of female workers is only 81% of that of men, and that of African American women is 69% and that of Latin American women is only 58%. In this country, women are laid off first whenever the economic crisis deepens. In capitalist countries, unemployment means death. Therefore, women who have found jobs keep silent to themselves without telling anyone even when they suffer all kinds of violence at their workplaces. In Japan, more than 70% of the workers who barely make a living with low incomes are women. The majority of women workers are giving up childbirth for fear of being dismissed after taking leave to have a baby. In Italy, women who have jobs account for less than 50% of the total female population, and in Spain, the number of unemployed women accounts for 60% of the total number of unemployed. Violent crimes against women, which are prevalent in the Western world dominated by the law of the jungle, are mercilessly destroying the spirit and body of countless women. The family is the foundation of life and a nest where the closest people by blood gather and live together. However, for women in capitalist countries, the family is hell, the source of misfortune and suffering. Violence against women in families is becoming quite commonplace. In the United States, an average of 24 people per minute become victims of domestic violence, 75% of whom are women, and among them, 65% are African American women. These data do not show the full picture of domestic violence incidents in the United States. Even according to data released by the US Department of Justice, which was extremely reduced, 52% of the victims of domestic violence were not reported to the police. The countless women in capitalist countries, for whom being born a woman becomes a “crime”, are abandoned by society and become the object of persecution and contempt even in the family, are losing their hopes and aspirations for the future, falling into pessimism and despair, and plunging into a depraved life and the path of crime. Seizing this as an opportunity, criminal organizations are engaged in human trafficking targeting women. The government tolerates and protects this. In some capitalist countries, prostitution is legally recognized and taxes are collected, and the money earned from it is included in the national income. Instead of defending and protecting the dignity and rights of women, the state is openly shielding and protecting human rights violation crimes. It is precisely the capitalist society of the omnipotence of gold that tramples on women's dignity and personality and regards women not as human beings but as mere commodities in the human flesh market. Contempt for women and discrimination against women are chronic malignant diseases of capitalism. In capitalist countries, women are discriminated against and despised as helpless beings. Pseudo-scholars of the West also justify gender inequality with bourgeois reactionary theories. In the West, politicians, joining this anti-human assertion, do not change their faces and unhesitatingly commit acts of discriminating against women. It is the capitalist country politicians who habitually recite that they “will create a society where women shine”, “will encourage women's active advancement into society and create an era where women play an active role”, yet insult women as “child-producing machines” and proudly say they “gifted” women to someone like commodities. Capitalist society is thus ruthlessly trampling on and insulting the aspirations of women who want to live and work equally, freely and happily as dignified members of society. This is an inevitable result of a social system where money dominates everything and the thought of contempt and disdain for women prevails. A society that imposes inequality on women and abuses them has no future and is doomed to perish. This is an unchanging truth. Ri Hak Nam Russia Directing Everything towards the Defence of National Sovereignty Not long ago, Russian President Putin, in a speech at the forum “Everything for Victory!” held on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the founding of the All-Russia People's Front, stressed that despite Western sanctions and pressure, Russia is developing its economy and military power and achieving successes in the field of defence industry, which is the result of the efforts of the All-Russia People's Front that united tens of millions of citizens. At the same time, he affirmed that Russia's strength lies in always overcoming all difficulties and fears, and that is precisely why it will only move forward. Since the start of the special military operation, Russia has been directing great efforts to uniting the entire people with patriotism and arousing them to the struggle for the victorious conclusion of the special military operation and the defence of national sovereignty. By organizing meaningful events on various occasions including the Day of Victory, it instills the spirit of patriotism in citizens and educates them to devote everything for the sacred fatherland. Last year, at the awarding ceremony of the Hero of Russia medal held on the occasion of the Day of the Hero of the Fatherland, President Putin stressed that pride in one's own fatherland, the feats and victories achieved by the previous generations, are uniting all of us, and that Russia is strong and winning because it is united as one on the basis of respect for the feats of heroes, the sense of responsibility before the country, the awareness of sharing one destiny with the fatherland, and genuine love for the fatherland—such historical justice exists. Russia, which firmly holds patriotic education as an important policy, is producing TV broadcasts related to it and broadcasting artistic films related to the history of the great victory created during the Soviet period and TV serials showing the culture and traditions of the Russian people, and is directing the creative activities of cultural artists towards raising the patriotic spirit of the people and promoting social unity. Numerous young people, who regard defending national sovereignty and serving the fatherland as a sacred cause, are readily volunteering for the special military operation, and are performing feats in the battle against neo-Nazism by displaying indomitable strength and patriotism. Support work for the combatants of the special military operation and their families is also being strengthened. Amid the nationwide vitalization of drone development and production, not a few enterprises are voluntarily turning out for the production of military supplies including drones. Thanks to their active efforts, the number of drones supplied to the Russian armed forces this year will reportedly more than double that of last year. Remarkable results are being achieved in the work to stabilize the life and economy of the residents of the newly integrated regions. In Donbass and Novorossiya, a total of more than 25 000 various objects, including schools, hospitals, clinics, sports facilities, power and municipal infrastructure, have been restored or newly built. Numerous dwelling houses have been built and nearly 260 industrial enterprises have started operation. Besides, more than 8 000 km of motorways, including the Azov ring road, have been laid and repaired. The ring road is a modern arterial road linking the coastal areas of the Azov Sea and is opening up new possibilities for investment and trade in these areas. The policy of the Russian government to victoriously conclude the special military operation and firmly defend national sovereignty by inheriting the history of the great victory and the patriotic tradition, and the active efforts for its implementation, are receiving the support and sympathy of the broad masses of people. He branded that threatening to label Chinese enterprises as having “stolen US intellectual property” and impose suppression and sanctions on them lacks factual basis and has no legal foundation, and that this belongs to a typical act of hegemony in the field of artificial intelligence applying double standards. (Korean Central News Agency) Points to Be Careful of When Cleaning Electronic Product Screens with Alcohol For people of the modern era who have to come into contact with electronic products such as mobile phones and computers every day, cleaning the screen has already become a daily habit, and accordingly, the question “Can I clean the screen with alcohol?” is frequently raised. Generally, the screens of computers and TVs have an anti-reflective layer to reduce reflection and enhance image quality. However, if the screen is cleaned with alcohol, this layer peels off or discolours, and the brightness of the screen becomes uneven. Therefore, in this case, it is recommended to gently wipe the screen with a soft cloth moistened with clean water. On the contrary, the screens of electronic products such as mobile phones with high contact frequency have a very thin layer that prevents water from penetrating. Since this layer is not easily destroyed by alcohol, it can be cleaned with a detergent containing alcohol. Some users habitually spray alcohol onto the screen. Doing so may cause alcohol to penetrate inside through the edges or connection parts of the screen and damage the components. In addition, excessive friction (wiping the screen forcefully with a paper towel or rough cloth) also quickly damages the screen. Therefore, for routine cleaning, it is better to wipe the screen with a clean, soft cloth slightly moistened with water rather than alcohol. (Korean Central News Agency) | |
