DPRK Premier Inspects South and North Hamgyong Provinces

Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and premier of the Cabinet of the DPRK, inspected several units in South and North Hamgyong provinces.

Learning about the overall situation of the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, he gave pep talks to its workers all out for attaining the goal of iron and steel production set by the Eighth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea. He stressed the need to concentrate forces on the construction of a new energy-saving iron blast furnace, increase the operation ratio of equipment and perfect the concentrates-transport system.

At the Chongjin Steel Plant, he underlined the need to update the current production processes by dint of advanced technology and ensure timely supply of raw and other materials and fuel to decisively increase the production in line with the orientation of overhauling and developing the key industrial sectors set forth at the Party Congress.

At the Musan Mining Complex, the premier stressed the need to boost the iron ore production by steadily cementing the material and technical foundations, according to the step-wise goal and plan for implementing the economic strategy of the Party.

Inspecting the Ranam Coal-mining Machine Complex and the Hoeryong Coal-mining Machine Factory, he discussed the practical issues arising in developing and producing modern coal-mining machines, according to the orientation of developing the machine-building industry in the period of implementing the new five-year plan.

The field consultative meetings discussed the measures for increasing the capacity of Juche iron production and using brown coal in the northern part of the country for the production of pig iron. They organized in detail the work for the relevant units to responsibly supply equipment and materials and fully supply iron and steel needed for the construction of 10 000 flats in Pyongyang City.

Meanwhile, the premier inspected different farms in Tanchon and Hoeryong cities and Hongwon, Pukchong, Kumya and Kowon counties. He acquainted himself with the immediate farming there and took necessary measures.
