In August 2024, the puppet authorities of Ukraine, acting under the guidance of imperialist powers to inflict a strategic defeat upon Russia, invaded Russian territory with tens of thousands of select troop units equipped with advanced Western weaponry and military hardware. They occupied over 1 200 square kilometers of Kursk Region, reducing many settlements to ashes.

On Russian soil, these neo‑Nazi punitive forces plundered and murdered peaceful civilians, took captives, committed rape, and destroyed homes, shops, government buildings, graves, and monuments to Communist leaders. The DPRK, which has fought against imperialist violence and tyranny through the ages, could not remain silent.

Given these developments and guided by Article 4 of the DPRK–Russian Federation Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, took the historic decision to commit the Korean People’s Army to a just war against neo‑Nazism.

With full strategic accord with the Russian Federation, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un instructed the Central Military Commission of the WPK to deploy combat units to the front lines without delay and, in close coordination with Russian forces, execute a liberation operation to expel the enemy from occupied territory.

On October 22, December 12, and December 22, 2024, he gradually approved the operational plan for liberating Kursk Region. Special operations units received orders to begin the offensive.

This great decision embodies a sacred duty to history, the fraternal solidarity of the DPRK and RF peoples, and the aspiration to uphold independence, justice, and noble Communist ideals.

KPA units, carrying out the Supreme Commander’s directive, fought as if defending their own homeland. With unwavering resolve, courage, and self‑sacrifice, they dealt a crushing blow to the enemy, forcing its retreat and writing a new glorious chapter in the chronicle of international anti‑imperialist struggle.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

“Everyone who fought for justice are heroes and representatives of the honour of the Fatherland.
Soon, in our capital, a monument to their battle feats will be erected in honour of the heroism of our proud sons of the DPRK, and at the graves of the fallen warriors, flowers will be laid by the Fatherland and the people desiring their immortality.

The fighting spirit and valour of the soldiers who demonstrated the great name of the powerful and the glory of the victor will forever shine on the high pedestal of respect and honour from generation to generation.

The Fatherland must forever preserve the spirit of the soldiers who fought for great honour, and adopt important state measures to provide special recognition and support to the families of the war fighters.”

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un personally bid farewell to the fallen revolutionary warriors. With deep reverence, he draped the coffins of the heroes with the sacred national flags, symbolizing the profound gratitude of the people and the Party for their immortal feats.
