Amid the boundless reverence for the gallant defenders of the fatherland of the war years and the great honour and pride of the succeeding generation who firmly safeguard and glorify the noble honour of the great victory and are ushering in the miraculous era of national rejuvenation overflowing across the country, a grand performance to mark the 73rd anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War was held splendidly in the capital Pyongyang on July 27.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, watched the performance together with the war veterans and wartime merited persons who were invited to the celebrations of the Day of Victory.

Adding to the joy of the significant Day of Victory that reminds us of the glorious history of one hundred victories of our Republic and makes us confident of a greater victory tomorrow, the performance stage that began with the prelude “Our July 27” and “July 27 March” featured wartime songs and hymns of the great victory that resounded high in the years of succession.

The performers warmly congratulated the war veterans and wartime merited persons, carrying the unanimous feelings of all the people across the country for the first-generation defenders of the fatherland who created the great victory history of our state.

The newly created song “Red Blossoms” on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the great victory was an eruption of the fervent tribute of our people to the victorious generation who created the indomitable heroic spirit that defended our sacred state sovereignty and beautiful future and handed it down as the driving force of sure victory with infinite loyalty to the Party and revolution and ardent patriotism.

A pictorial compilation showing the matchless spirit of sacrifice, heroism and brilliant feats displayed by the excellent sons and daughters of the Chinese people who fought shoulder to shoulder with our people and shared life and death in the same trenches repulsing the imperialist aggression, and Chinese songs including the “Song of the Chinese People's Volunteers”, deeply impressed the spectators.

The performers unfolded in an excellent artistic picture the eternal gratitude of the Korean people to the fighters of the Chinese People's Volunteers who, even in the difficult early days of nation building, held high the banner of resisting America and aiding Korea, helped the just sacred war of our people with blood, and made a significant contribution to the victory in the war and the defence of world peace and security, and the truth that DPRK-China friendship, based on the common ideal and militant friendship, will be immortal together with the history of the great victory.

Watching the documentary footage conveying the three years of war—the solemn 1 129 days of bloody disaster and the lessons of history that must never be forgotten—that inflicted terrible misfortune and suffering on our people who were overflowing with the joy of liberation and the delight of a new life, the spectators engraved in their hearts with an indomitable will the heavy sense of mission of our generation to glorify the glory and honour of our state won by the defenders of the fatherland in the 1950s with their blood with an even greater victory and hand them down firmly to the next generation.

The performance, which further hardened the conviction that as long as the noble spirit and soul that brought about the great victory are vividly alive and beating, and as long as the brave march of the new generations faithful to their will continues, victory will forever be Korea's, won the high acclaim of the spectators.
