Historic Eighth Congress of WPK Opens Congress of Struggle and Advance Which Will Mark Great Watershed in Overall Development of Korean-style Socialism The 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) opened in Pyongyang, the capital of the revolution, on January 5, Juche 110 (2021) amid the great attention, expectations and aspiration of all Party members, people and service personnel across the country. The WPK Central Committee convened the congress, the eighth of its kind in the sacred history of the WPK, in order to comprehensively and strictly review the work of the Party Central Committee, clearly reconfirm the exact orientation and duty in its struggle for winning a bigger victory in the socialist cause and take measures for substantial improvement, as required by the times witnessing a new upsurge and great turn in the development of the Korean revolution. Third-day Sitting of Eighth Congress of WPK Held Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un Continues Report on Work of 7th Central Committee of WPK Upon hearing the news about the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) which marks an epochal significance in accomplishing the Korean-style socialist cause, the trust of millions of Party members and other people all over the country in the Party and their loyalty toward it are getting stronger. The third-day sitting of the 8th Congress of the WPK was held on Thursday. When The Congress continued its work amid political enthusiasm of the participants growing higher inspired by clear policy of the struggle and progress. Serious discussions continued on the first agenda item "Review on the Work of the WPK Central Committee". Speeches were made by Comrades Ko In Ho, Choe Sang Gon, Pak Hun, Kang Hyong Bong, Ri Song Hak, Ri Kyong Il, Jong Chang Ik, So Chong Hak, Kim Kwang Nam, Yang Yong Gil, Kim Son Yong and Jang Hyok. Report on Review of Work of WPK Central Auditing Commission There was a report on the second agenda item "Review of the Work of the WPK Central Auditing Commission" at the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK). According to the report, a correct viewpoint and stand on the Party financial management were established among Party organizations at all levels and Party officials, and big successes were made in drawing up Party financial budget and implementing it. The Party financial income has systematically increased and the independent Party financial foundation has been strengthened. The Party finance, therefore, could help build up large reserves while meeting expenditures needed for Party work and activities and its economic life. The expenditure of the Party finance increased as the Party work and activities were intensified and the socialist construction vigorously pushed ahead with under the leadership of the Party. The Party finance was spent on strengthening the Party and enhancing its militant function and role during the period under review. It was also used for promoting the welfare of the people. It contributed to the important national construction projects like Ryomyong Street, Samjiyon City, Orangchon Power Station, Wonsan Kalma coastal tourist area and Pyongyang General Hospital as intended by the Party Central Committee. It played a big share for upholding our Party's noble love for posterity and future. It also contributed to relieving people who suffered from sudden natural disasters last year of their misfortune. During the period under review, the Party financial budgets in provincial, city and county Party committees were also successfully implemented. The report pointed out mistakes that need definite correction in the Party financial management and stressed the need to bring about a fresh turn in its work. The Party financial management departments and officials should more scrupulously carry out the Party financial management work and decisively tighten financial discipline as required by the development of the Party and the revolution. First of all, they should firmly preserve the system of undivided responsibility in Party financial management. Sixth-Day Sitting of 8th WPK Congress Held Great Political Event to Be Etched in History of Development of Great WPK and Sacred Juche Revolution The news about the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea clearly indicating the orientation of the victorious advance of Korean-style socialism is instilling into the minds of millions of Party members and other people throughout the country the great pride in the great guidance and sagacity of our dignified Party and fresh confidence and courage. Amid the high-degree political awareness and great enthusiasm of the delegates, the sixth-day sitting of the 8th Congress of the WPK was held on January 10. Supreme Leader The congress discussed its fourth agenda item "Election of the Central Leadership Body of the WPK." According to the rules of the WPK, the 7th Party central leadership body finished its term and the congress elected the 8th Party central leadership body. As the congress entered a discussion of the important issue of electing the new central leadership body which will take responsibility for, organize and direct the party-building and overall revolutionary affairs in the new stage of struggle, a solemn and heavy atmosphere pervaded the venue of the congress. Relevant articles of the "regulations of election of the central leadership organ of the WPK" were read out and the procedures of electing members and alternate members of the Party Central Committee began. The nomination and election took place after rational methods of recommending the candidates for the members and alternate members were decided. Delegate Jo Yong Won, upon authorization by the presidium of the congress, read the list of the candidates for members of the 8th Party Central Committee. When he suggested the Supreme Leader as a candidate for member of the Party Central Committee, all the delegates broke into stormy cheers of hurray with loud applause. All the suggested candidates were recommended as candidates for members of the WPK Central Committee with unanimous approval of all the delegates. Delegates unanimously acknowledged that the recommended candidates are the comrades who have firmly armed themselves with the revolutionary idea of our Party, remained strong in their faith to dedicate themselves to the final victory of the revolutionary cause of Juche and devotedly struggled for the country and the people. The congress carried out an election of the recommended candidates. When the chair courteously proposed electing the Supreme Leader as a member of the Party Central Committee in reflection of the unanimous will and desire of all members of the Party and the delegates attending the congress, all the participants broke into thunderous cheers of "hurrah!" and applause in token of their full support. By raising their delegate certificates, they expressed their approval to the election of recommended 138 candidates as members of the Party Central Committee and gave an enthusiastic applause to their election by a unanimous approval. The congress elected alternate members of the Party Central Committee. The delegates approved of the number of the alternate members and examined the qualifications of the recommended 111 candidates for alternate members. All the recommended candidates were elected as alternate members of the Party Central Committee with the unanimous approval of the delegates at the congress. Then the congress discussed the most important and responsible issue of crucial significance in the development of the glorious WPK and accomplishment of the revolutionary cause of Juche. Inter-sector Consultative Meetings of Eighth WPK Congress Held Inter-sector consultative meetings of the Eighth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) took place on Monday. The consultative meetings began studying the draft resolution for thoroughly implementing the tasks set forth in the report on the work of the Party Central Committee. The consultative meetings were guided by Choe Ryong Hae, Jo Yong Won, Ri Pyong Chol and Kim Tok Hun, members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, and other members of the Party central leadership body. The meetings deeply discussed the practical issues for carrying out the goals and tasks of the struggle to be carried out in all fields of socialist construction for the new advance and development of the Korean revolution in the future five years. The delegates unanimously acknowledged that scientific, realistic and dynamic development direction and detailed ways are urgently needed in their sectors and units in order to certainly orient the overall Party and state work towards facilitating fresh innovation, bold creation and constant progress. At the consultative meeting of the industrial sector, delegates analyzed on the basis of scientific calculation and numeric data the ways of focusing investment on the metal industry and chemical industry, regarding them as key links in the whole chain of the national economy, normalizing the production in the key industrial sectors including electric power, coal, machine and mining industries and putting the national economy on a more self-supporting, planned and serve-the-people basis in the period of the new five-year plan for national economic development. The consultative meeting in the agricultural sector discussed in depth the ways to attain the goal of grain production set by the Party without fail by directing efforts into making a radical turn in seed selection, doing farming on a scientific basis, increasing grain production on low-yield fields, cultivating new land and reclaiming tideland, and to round off irrigation and mechanization of the rural economy and intensify state assistance to the rural communities. The consultative meeting in the sector of light industry discussed the practical measures to step up modernization, regarding it as the lifeline and main direction to promote home production of raw materials and recycling, and to increase the output of consumer goods by improving their quality and putting efforts into developing new products. The consultative meeting in the sectors of education, public health and culture studied the development strategies for their fields and units in combination with the innovative orientation and relevant tasks for socialist cultural construction advanced in the report of the Party congress. The participants fully calculated the feasibility of the sci-tech development goals to be attained in different fields in the period of the new five-year plan by accelerating the sci-tech development, as intended by the Party which defined sci-tech development as the most important task and the optimum policy in socialist construction, and the ways for carrying them out. Suggested were innovative opinions conducive to steadily updating educational contents and methods and teaching management system in keeping with the current world trend of educational development and as required by pedagogy in the education field, developing socialist public health and cementing the anti-epidemic base to be strong enough to tackle any global health crisis by consolidating the material and technical foundation of public health sector and ushering in a new heyday of socialist culture by making a radical turn in the fields of literature and arts, media and sports. The consultative meetings in the fields of military affairs and munitions industry discussed issues arising in implementing the important strategic tasks for strengthening the state defence capabilities, the cornerstone of the existence of our state and sure guarantee for safeguarding the dignity and security of the country and the people and preserving peace. Delegates suggested significant and urgent measures for carrying out the grandiose plan of the Party Central Committee for fully preparing the Korean People's Army to be the revolutionary army modeled on the WPK, ultra-modern army and reliable defender of our state and people, and remarkably developing the defence industry. The delegates participating in the consultative meetings of officials of the Party and working people's organizations had in-depth discussions of issues with a high sense of Party responsibility, guided by the Party's leadership idea which calls for bringing about a fundamental turn in the Party work and for strengthening the working people's organizations in line with the requirements of the times and the developing reality. The participants had discussions on practical issues arising in pushing forward with the work of establishing and steadily intensifying the unified leadership system of the Party Central Committee as a main line, in strengthening the leadership and fighting efficiency of the Party in every way by thoroughly establishing an iron discipline within the Party and making a revolutionary climate prevail throughout the Party, and in improving the Party work. The consultative meeting of working people's organization officials heard opinions on equipping all the members of working people's organizations, the transmission belts and outer organizations of the Party, with the revolutionary idea of the Party by directing priority efforts into the internal work of the organizations and ideological education. Particularly, there was an expression of opinions on training the youth league to be a reliable relay to and reserve for the Party. Scientific and innovative opinions which can guarantee the implementation of the decisions of the Party congress were collected in the inter-sector consultative meetings that proceeded in sincere and technical atmosphere through energetic in-depth study and brainstorming. 8th Congress of WPK Closes Let's Achieve New Victory of Our-Style Socialism, Deeply Cherishing Noble Idea of "Believing in People as in Heaven", "Single-minded Unity" and "Self-Reliance" The 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) closed on Tuesday after successfully finishing the discussion on its agenda items amid full support and expectations of all the Party members, other people and service personnel of the People's Army. The eighth-day sitting of the congress was held amid the full display of the delegates' revolutionary will to remain boundlessly loyal to the idea and leadership of the Party Central Committee and dedicate themselves to implementation of the decision made at the congress and unconditionally serve the people. All the delegates raised stormy cheers of "hurrah!" in reverence for the general secretary who put up a signpost for a new great victory of our Party and revolution and glorified the Party congress as a revolutionary one for progress and innovation with his extraordinary ideological and theoretical wisdom and seasoned leadership. He said the congress which held as the eighth one in the history of our Party brought up the immediate plan of struggle for opening up a period of fresh upsurge, a period of great changes in the revolution and construction and important issues arising in developing the Party, and sincerely discussed them. Saying that he hardly repressed his grateful and heavy feelings while receiving the greatest honor of being entrusted with the duty of the supreme leader of the dignified WPK again by all the delegates and other Party members, he solemnly swore that he would do his best to implement the fighting programme set forth at the congress with the sacred mission that he represents the great Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist Party and is responsible for it, and devote himself to serving the people as befitting their true servant, believing in our great people as in Heaven. He clarified the main idea and the main spirit of the congress and specially stressed the need for the whole Party to deeply cherish again and uphold the three ideas - "believing in people as in Heaven", "single-minded unity" and "self-reliance." The congress entered into procedures for adopting a resolution on the first agenda item "The review of the work of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea". It examined the creative and constructive opinions summed up by the resolution drafting committee at the inter-sector consultative meetings and decided to reflect them in the resolution of the 8th Party Congress. The delegates unanimously admitted that the scientific, realistic and dynamic goals and tasks in line with the demand of the developing revolution were reflected in the resolution. The 8th Congress of the WPK solemnly adopted with unanimous approval of the participants the resolution on the first agenda item "On thoroughly carrying out the tasks set forth in the report on the work of the 7th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea".
