China Is Taking Tough Counteraction against the West's Vicious Pressure Offensive

Not long ago, the National Endowment for Democracy of the United States published a report full of vicious slander and calumny against China.

In the report, the US viciously disparaged the socialist system of China as “authoritarian” with all sorts of falsehoods and fabrications. It also groundlessly picked a quarrel with this country's activities for external exchanges and international cooperation, and made an uproar about the “China threat theory”.

As soon as the report was published, the spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately held a press conference, exposed the disgraceful nature and shabby past records of the National Endowment for Democracy, and clarified the tough stand of firmly opposing the insidious and vicious anti-China acts.

The National Endowment for Democracy is a tool of US interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states and aggression against them.

In the past period, this organization has been causing the collapse of legitimate governments and social chaos by instigating anti-government forces in various countries of Asia, Europe and Africa. For this reason, China has branded this organization as “the second US Central Intelligence Agency” and has taken tough counteraction against the anti-China offensive.

In connection with the publication of a certain report by the National Endowment for Democracy again this time, which recklessly disparages its country, China strongly demanded that the relevant US organization and individuals have a correct understanding of China, discard prejudice and arrogance, and stop the political meddling.

Recently, China is resolutely countering the despicable intrigue offensive of external forces that attempt to create distrust of China and blur its international image with groundless slander and calumny.

On June 22, the Ministry of Commerce of China announced the inclusion of some US enterprises on the export control list.

The Ministry of Commerce stated that, in response to the vicious methods of the US government that is suppressing Chinese enterprises, China has decided, in accordance with the relevant provisions of laws and regulations, to include 10 US military-related entities on the export control list and ban the export of dual-use items to them. On the same day, the Ministry of Finance of China issued a notice on the implementation of restrictive measures against 46 US enterprises.

Several days ago, a spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce of China, concerning the US announcement that it would investigate and impose sanctions on a Chinese artificial intelligence enterprise, stated that China consistently opposes the slandering and sanctioning of Chinese enterprises under all sorts of groundless pretexts. Branding the threat to label Chinese enterprises as having “stolen US intellectual property” and to suppress and sanction them as a typical hegemonic act, the spokesperson stressed that China will take all necessary measures against any act that substantially infringes upon China's interests and resolutely defend its legitimate and legal rights and interests.

China is also resolutely countering the unilateral sanctions manoeuvres of the European Union, which has been raising the intensity of the anti-China pressure offensive in the wake of the United States.

Not long ago, the European Union announced the 21st sanctions measure against Russia. According to this sanctions measure, 14 Chinese enterprises are also subject to sanctions.

In response to this, China decided on July 24 to include 14 EU enterprises on the export control list.

In the future, Chinese export units are banned from exporting dual-use items to the 14 EU enterprises, and overseas institutions and individuals are also thoroughly banned from transferring or supplying dual-use items originating in China to the relevant enterprises.

The tough stand towards the West is a manifestation of the resolute will of the Chinese government to never tolerate unjust pressure and despicable intrigue manoeuvres and to firmly safeguard its own dignity and interests on the international stage.

Rapid Spread of Avian Influenza Arousing Concern

Following last year, avian influenza is continuing to spread in various countries and regions this year as well.

Following the detection of a highly pathogenic avian influenza virus at a poultry farm in Nobeoka City, Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan, in early January this year, chickens, ducks and quails were successively infected with the avian influenza virus in various regions in February, March and April as well.

The H5N1 avian influenza virus was detected at a turkey farm in Israel last February.

Avian influenza is also spreading in Nepal.

Following the discovery of a variant avian influenza virus in Sakhalin Province, Russia, last year, an H5-type highly pathogenic variant avian influenza virus was discovered for the first time in New Zealand not long ago. It is reported that as a result of the examination of seagulls inhabiting the capital Wellington of New Zealand, they were confirmed to have been infected with this variant virus.

Avian influenza was originally known as an infectious disease that spreads among birds, but as the phenomenon of infection in mammals including dairy cows and goats as well as in people is becoming more frequent, concern about its danger is growing day by day.

The first avian influenza virus case of this year occurred in Kampot Province, Cambodia, in February.

The Ministry of Health of this country announced that a 30-year-old man was infected with the H5N1 avian influenza virus, and he showed symptoms of fever, cough and abdominal pain.

In March, a 45-year-old woman in Banteay Meanchey Province of this country was confirmed to have been infected with the H5N1 avian influenza virus. It is reported that she was infected from the chickens and ducks she raised at home.

The fatality rate when a person is infected with avian influenza is reportedly 52%, which is considerably high compared to the novel coronavirus infection whose fatality rate was about 20% in the early days of the pandemic.

Health experts warn that cases of avian influenza virus infection in mammals, not birds, are increasing, and the risk of the emergence of new variant viruses capable of human-to-human transmission is also growing. They warn that if this virus begins to spread among people, humanity could face a serious crisis 100 times greater than that during the pandemic of the novel coronavirus infection.
