Respected Comrade KIM JONG UN Visits Immortal Monuments on the Occasion of National Liberation Day and Piously Remembers the Anti-Japanese Revolutionary Martyrs

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), visited the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt. Taesong on August 14 on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of national liberation.

Present there were leading cadres of the Party, government and armed forces organs, including members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, responsible officials of the Party Central Committee, the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, the Cabinet, commissions, ministries and central agencies, and commanding officers of the Korean People's Army (KPA).

An honour guard of the KPA was lined up.

The national anthem of the DPRK was played.

Amid the playing of the wreath-laying music, a floral tribute in the name of Comrade Kim Jong Un was laid before the wreath-laying stand of the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery.

Floral tributes were laid in the names of the WPK Central Committee, the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, and the Cabinet of the DPRK.

Together with all the participants, Comrade Kim Jong Un observed a moment of silence in memory of the revolutionary martyrs who dedicated their precious lives to the sacred struggle for the independence and prosperity of the fatherland.

A march-past of the honour guard of the KPA took place.

Comrade Kim Jong Un said that the resolute spirit of independence and the immortal exploits of the first-generation revolutionaries, who, burning with a lofty sense of mission for the destiny of the fatherland and posterity, saved the country and nation and restored its dignity through an arduous bloody resistance, are a precious ideological and spiritual asset and a noble revolutionary heritage to be handed down to posterity.

Comrade Kim Jong Un said that the beautiful ideal of communism, the thorough revolutionary faith and the indomitable fighting spirit cherished by the anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters are instilling eternal vitality into the struggle of our people building a prosperous and powerful country that the martyrs longed for, and affirmed that the cause of the great Korean people, who carry forward the noble revolutionary spirit and lofty outlook on life of the fighters from generation to generation, will be ever-victorious and invincible.

Comrade Kim Jong Un then visited the Memorial to the Anti-Japanese Revolutionary Martyrs.

Harbouring a solemn heart for the known and unknown anti-Japanese revolutionary martyrs who, faithfully upholding the ideas and leadership of the Great Leader, contributed to the realization of the historic cause of national liberation, Comrade Kim Jong Un laid a bouquet before the memorial and observed a moment of silence.

Looking at the three-figure statue depicting the heroic struggle of the members of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army and the inscriptions bearing the names of many martyrs, Comrade Kim Jong Un said that although the bodies of those who offered their flower-like youth to the revolution for the dignity and freedom of the fatherland and people were scattered in nameless mountains and fields, their proud images and traces of feats are vividly engraved in the annals.

Comrade Kim Jong Un wished that the pioneering generation of the Korean revolution, who created and bequeathed to posterity the priceless revolutionary traditions of Paektu, would live forever on the highest pedestal of honour and dignity along with the victorious advance of our-style socialism.

Respected Comrade KIM JONG UN Visits the Liberation Tower on the Occasion of the 81st Anniversary of National Liberation

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the WPK and president of the State Affairs of the DPRK, visited the Liberation Tower on August 14 on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of national liberation.

He was accompanied by leading officials of the WPK Central Committee and responsible officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Defence of the DPRK.

An honour guard of the KPA was lined up before the Liberation Tower.

The national anthem of the Russian Federation and the national anthem of the DPRK were played.

Amid the playing of the wreath-laying music, a floral tribute in the name of Comrade Kim Jong Un was laid.

The ribbon of the floral tribute bore the inscription “We Do Not Forget the Exploits of the Soviet Army Martyrs”.

Comrade Kim Jong Un paid noble tribute to the Soviet army martyrs who fought bravely for the liberation struggle of our people for the freedom and independence of the country.

Comrade Kim Jong Un looked round the Liberation Tower together with the accompanying officials.

Piously recollecting the militant feats of the Red Army officers and men who shed their warm blood in the sacred cause for the liberation of Korea, Comrade Kim Jong Un said that our people will never forget the noble souls of the martyrs and the heroic spirit of sacrifice they displayed, no matter how much time passes and generations change.

Comrade Kim Jong Un said that the excellent history, traditions and blood ties between the DPRK and Russia are becoming the fundamental cornerstone and inexhaustible driving force of the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries today, and affirmed that the great friendship and unity between the peoples of the two countries, bound by the noble ideal and genuine militant friendship, will be steadfastly carried forward and developed from generation to generation together with the new era of all-round flowering.

Sports and Cultural Events Held to Mark the 81st Anniversary of National Liberation

Swimming and diving competitions were held on August 16 in accordance with the schedule of sports and cultural events commemorating National Liberation Day.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the WPK and president of the State Affairs of the DPRK, watched the competitions.

All the participants, who significantly marked National Liberation Day with sports and cultural events in the presence of Comrade Kim Jong Un, were filled with great emotion and joy.

When Comrade Kim Jong Un appeared at the competition venue, the enthusiastic cheers of all the athletes and spectators shook the arena.

Watching the competitions were leading cadres of the Party, government and armed forces organs, officials of the Party Central Committee, the Cabinet, ministries and central agencies, and commanding officers of the Ministry of National Defence.

The swimming competition was divided into the men's 100m freestyle and 100m breaststroke, the women's 100m freestyle and 100m breaststroke, in which athletes from six teams competed, and the mixed medley relay in which four athletes from each team overcame 400m, with each swimmer covering 100m in the order of backstroke, freestyle, breaststroke and butterfly.

The competitions were fierce from beginning to end amid the competitive spirit of the athletes and heated cheering.

In addition, three teams participated in the diving competition, which was conducted in the men's and women's individual 10m platform events and the mixed 10m platform simultaneous event.

In the swimming competition, the Sobaeksu Sports Team took first place, the Ministry of Fisheries Sports Team second place, and the Suyangsan Sports Team third place.

In the diving competition, the Sobaeksu Sports Team also took overall first place.

This was followed by a demonstration performance of underwater rhythmic gymnastics.

An awarding ceremony was held amid the applause of the participants.

The sports and cultural events held on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of national liberation added to the festive atmosphere of the auspicious holiday our people greeted.

Amid the joy and delight of the people overflowing across the country on the significant day when the rebirth of our great fatherland is proudly remembered, a comprehensive acrobatic performance by the State Acrobatic Troupe to mark the 81st anniversary of national liberation was held at the Pyongyang Acrobatic Theatre on August 16.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the WPK and president of the State Affairs of the DPRK, watched the performance.

When Comrade Kim Jong Un appeared in the auditorium to the tune of the welcome music, the enthusiastic cheers of “Hurrah!” burst out and shook the theatre.

Comrade Kim Jong Un sent warm congratulations to all the people across the country and the service personnel of the entire army on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of national liberation, who are opening the new era of comprehensive development with unquenchable love for the precious and sacred fatherland and confidence and optimism in our cause.

The stage featured a variety of items including the physical acrobatics “Tightrope Walking” and “Fly Higher”, which won top prizes at international acrobatic festivals.

The graceful folk acrobatic works overflowing with rich emotion and vibrant vitality and the highly difficult and refined acrobatic items well displayed the ever-flourishing and developing appearance of our acrobatic art.

The distinctive works performed by the magician familiar to our people captivated the audience in the mysterious world of magic.

The performance, which continued with breathtaking suspense, admiration and cheerful laughter, won the high acclaim of the spectators.

Comrade Kim Jong Un expressed great satisfaction with the performance of the artistes and warmly congratulated them.

Comrade Kim Jong Un met the creators, artistes and officials of the State Acrobatic Troupe who added joy and romance to National Liberation Day with an excellent performance.

Comrade Kim Jong Un said that the State Acrobatic Troupe is a veteran art organization that has been loved by our people and glorified the honour and prestige of the country through the creation of world-class acrobatic works and active performance activities for over 70 years, and highly appreciated the merits of the creators and artistes who have contributed to the development of socialist culture with the unique power of acrobatic art.
