Recently in the Republic of Korea (ROK), progressive forces including the People's Democracy Party have been waging a daily struggle demanding the abolition of the fascist evil law, the National Security Law, and the dissolution of the tyrannical organ, the Security Investigation Department.

On the 15th, a party speech meeting was held in front of the National Police Agency under the slogans “Abolish the fascist evil Security Law! Dissolve the tyrannical Security Investigation Department!” The participants branded the Security Investigation Department as a “second KCIA” and strongly denounced the Lee Jae Myung regime for committing the same public security oppression as the Yoon Suk Yeol fascist regime.

In the statement released that day, it was pointed out that not-guilty verdicts in the retrials of the victims of the Security Law are occurring one after another. The victims of the 1964 “East Coast Area Fixed Spy Ring” case were acquitted after 27 years, and as of March this year, 2 208 of the 2 288 persons imprisoned in connection with the Jeju Uprising had received not-guilty verdicts. In the so-called “Abducted and Repatriated Fishermen” case, 107 persons were also acquitted, and in May, a victim of the 1980s “Spy Ring of Japan-Resident Korean Students” case received a “no suspicion” disposition after 43 years. It was stated that the retrial acquittal rate for cases involving violations of the Security Law and the Anti-Communist Law applied during the period of the military fascist power reaches nearly 100%.

On the 18th, a press conference was held in front of the Yongsan Police Station. On that occasion, the progressive forces expressed indignation over the fact that, in the course of protesting the illegal arrest of a delegation of the World Anti-Imperialist Platform in Kenya last May, the police forcibly dispersed legal party speech meetings and press conferences and used violence. In particular, they exposed the bestial forced removal and violent suppression directed at female party members and denounced the Yongsan Police Station as “the police of the Yusin era.”

On the 22nd, a large-scale party speech meeting was again held in front of the National Police Agency. The participants criticized the prosecution and police for carrying out targeted investigations and fabricated investigations, and reminded that, as revealed at a National Assembly policy seminar in April 2026, the number of arrests, indictments and convictions of “spies” over the past two years was zero. On the other hand, they stressed that the retrial acquittal rate for the “spy cases” of the fascist power period reaches nearly 100%, and asserted that the Security Investigation Department and the National Security Law have functioned solely for the maintenance of power by the fascist gang.

In the commentary released that day, it was strongly denounced that the Lee Jae Myung regime's strengthening of the Security Investigation Department and maintenance of the National Security Law are “fascist atrocities and acts of treason.”
