Under the Leadership of the Great Party, Let Us Vigorously Push Forward the Victorious Advance of the Juche Revolutionary Cause That Began with the DIU

At a time when the comprehensive development of socialism is accelerating day by day under the leadership of the great Party Central Committee and the confidence of all the people in an endlessly civilized and flourishing tomorrow is rising ever higher, we are greeting the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU).

The centenary of the founding of the DIU becomes a meaningful occasion that clearly impresses upon us the sure invincibility of the Korean revolution, whose beginnings were great and whose succession and development have been equally great, and that raises high the firm will and revolutionary mettle of our people to push forward the victorious advance of the sacred Juche revolutionary cause with even greater vigour.

Even a long history of struggle shines only when it is linked as one with a bright future.

The reason our people are today significantly commemorating the centenary of the founding of the DIU lies not only in the pride of having walked, from the very first step of pioneering, along the single path of victory for a full century, but in the fact that our confidence in surely embracing the future of great Korea, a more dazzling and beautiful tomorrow, is more elated than ever before.

The century-long history of victory in the arduous Korean revolution engraves a precious truth upon us.

The history of miraculous victories spanning a hundred years testifies to how just was the Juche course we chose and how staunchly our strength grew and was strengthened amid the ceaseless struggle with stern trials. At the same time, it instils in us the confidence as to how gigantic the undertakings we can shoulder and how confidently we can accomplish them in the future carving-out of our destiny. For a revolutionary party and people, there is no greater pride and strength than this.

Today all Party members, working people and service personnel of the People's Army are firmly steeling their faith and will to carry forward the hundred-year history of the Juche revolution that began with the DIU as a hundred and a thousand years of new victory and glory, united firmly around the great Leader of our Party, state and people, Comrade Kim Jong Un.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said as follows:

“Our struggle to carry forward the most precious and sacred ideals and spirit and to hasten the victory of socialist and communist construction is advancing ever more vigorously and confidently with redoubled confidence and soaring spirit.”

The founding of the DIU is of profound significance in that it opened the beginnings of the Korean revolution and caused the roots of our Party to strike deep.

The Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung founded the DIU, a new-type revolutionary vanguard organization, with the hot-blooded youth of the new generation on October 17, 1926. The Down-with-Imperialism Union set forth as its programme the struggle to achieve the liberation and independence of Korea and to build socialism and communism.

At a time when our people were forced into the wretched fate of colonial slaves and the tyrannical rule of imperialism was running ever more rampant, and amid the confusion in which the nationalist movement and the early communist movement, deeply mired in flunkeyism and dogmatism, were engrossed in useless factional strife, to raise high the original, scientific, strong and bold fighting programme of anti-imperialism, independence and socialism was a historic feat that only the Great Leader, the heaven-sent great man and peerless patriot, could have accomplished. Thereby the Korean revolution was able, from the very first step of its pioneering, to advance confidently along the Juche course that no one had ever set forth and no one had ever trodden.

The history of the world revolutionary movement records not a few revolutions, but there is no great revolution like the Korean revolution, whose pioneering resolve and spirit still display immortal vitality today, a century later. The programme of the DIU was not long, but in it there was a clear answer to the questions of what we struggle for, along which path, and how we should go. Today the anti-imperialist, independent ideal set forth by the DIU has become the banner of justice and truth in the world, and socialism is shining as the lighthouse of progressive humankind.

The pride and self-respect in our revolution, which has invariably upheld and glorified the path once chosen and the banner of struggle once raised for a full hundred years, cannot be compared with anything anywhere.

It is difficult even to find the path of truth, but to walk it to the end is harder still. The worst difficulties and obstacles have piled up at every period and every stage, yet all the generations of our revolution have taken up the red flag staunchly from generation to generation and remained infinitely faithful to its cause and undertaking.

On that unchanging single path we have greeted all victories and glories. With the victory of the anti-Japanese revolution we put an end to the history of suffering of a ruined people and greeted the historic event of the liberation of the fatherland, whereby a fundamental turn took place in our people's carving-out of their independent destiny.

Our Party and people, holding fast to anti-imperialism and independence as their life, created the miraculous legend of victory in the three-year Fatherland Liberation War by defeating the aggressor forces of the vassal states led by the US imperialists who boasted of being the world's “strongest”, and, shaking off the ruins of the postwar period, built on this land a socialist state of independence, self-reliance and self-defence. Even amid the interference and pressure of all manner of foreign forces, our Party firmly maintained the independent stand and pushed everything forward as we had resolved, in accordance with our ideals and will.

The Juche revolution has advanced along a single path in the struggle for socialist construction as well. On that historic course, our-style socialism centred on the popular masses, the most superior of its kind, has been successfully built and has advanced triumphantly. Even in the period of the great turmoil when the socialist camp collapsed, and under the harshest pressure and blockade threatening our very existence, our Party resolutely defended Juche socialism, thereby safeguarding the destiny, livelihood and future of the people.

It is because there is today's glory, because there is today's triumphant advance, that all the traces engraved on the long road of the Korean revolution shine even more brightly, and that all the wishes and ideals of the forerunners can be truly realized. In the long history of the Juche revolution, which has engraved only pages of miracles and victories, the new era occupies an outstanding place.

The new era guided by the great Comrade Kim Jong Un shines as a watershed of history that, in the hundred-year history of the Juche revolution, attains the very highest peak of dignity, might and prosperity, and at the same time opens a bright, wide path of a new centennial plan before our state and people.

To exercise independent rights with dignity and to defend and carve out one's own destiny and future by one's own strength has become the most fundamental and crucial demand in the long struggle of our people. Under the leadership of the great Party Central Committee, through a struggle of unyielding determination, we have at last firmly grasped the powerful guarantee that reliably safeguards independent development. A dramatic change has taken place in the country's strategic position, and a new era of self-respect and prosperity—an era of our state-first principle—has unfolded, in which the national power and prestige of the Republic are displayed to the whole world.

By the outstanding leadership and bold and resolute will for execution of the great Comrade Kim Jong Un, a heyday of great turn and great transformation has arrived in the long and arduous historic struggle of our people for socialism.

Together with the period of comprehensive socialist development, the foundations of self-reliant economic development are being firmly laid, and new horizons of civilized living are constantly being opened. As the Party's regional development policy is powerfully pushed forward, transformations unprecedented since the founding of the state are occurring one after another, in which all the people of the country, whether living in the capital or in the provinces, enjoy socialist welfare and benefits alike. In all spheres of state and social life, unprecedented achievements are being made in advanced and modern character and in the leaping speed that outpaces the passage of time, and the responsiveness, potential and might of our state are surging remarkably.

This dynamic era, in which the prestige of Juche Korea is raised high and the advance of our state toward a civilized and flourishing tomorrow is accelerating, has been brought about by the extraordinary wisdom, tenacious practical power and devoted labour of the great Comrade Kim Jong Un. The outstanding leadership ability and noble spirit of patriotism and love for the people possessed by the respected General Secretary are the banner of victory and the boundless strength of our state and people advancing through extreme difficulties toward a bright future.

Revolution is a struggle for the future, and only a revolution that builds both today and tomorrow advances triumphantly. If tomorrow cannot be seen and there is no future, then however proud the history, it remains merely a record in books. To build the finest and most beautiful centennial plan—this is the manifestation of an extraordinary sense of responsibility for the revolutionary cause, and the achievement of achievements that can be piled up before the fatherland and the people.

A great Leader guides a great revolution and creates a great future.

The great Comrade Kim Jong Un, who cherishes the building of the centennial plan of the Juche revolution with a heavy sense of mission, has always valued and devoted the greatest heart and soul to the strengthening and development of the Party, the leading force of the revolution, the solid foundation-laying of self-respect and self-reliance, and the training of the new generation who will shoulder the Korea of tomorrow.

With the five-point Party-building line of the new era clarified and the Central Cadre School of the Workers' Party of Korea splendidly arranged as a world-class political and ideological academy, a new turn has taken place in the building of the centennial plan of our Party and revolution. The ceaseless evolution of the mightiest national defence power, which no hostile force dares to covet, firmly guarantees not only the peace and prosperity of our generation but also that of our descendants. The growth of a great army of patriotic youth combining thorough ideological spirit and extraordinary creative power through the gigantic revolutionary practice of the new era gives confidence in the bright prospects of our Party and state.

The centennial plan is the most arduous pioneering in the world and the most important responsibility. Moreover, to build a centennial plan under the fighting conditions of our revolution, in which every step is a pioneering and a first step while overcoming unprecedented trials and difficulties, is not something anyone can readily resolve to do. This is a century-scale undertaking that only the respected General Secretary, who possesses a noble sense of responsibility and ardent love for the fatherland, the people and the revolution, together with a strong will and indomitable practical power, can shoulder and perfectly execute.

With the great Comrade Kim Jong Un, who takes responsibility for and builds both the present and the future of the fatherland and the revolution, held in high esteem, Korea is great today, but tomorrow will be even more brilliant. This is the unique pride that only our state and people can possess, the foremost spiritual asset, and an irresistible force for carving out the future.

Let us dash forward with even greater vigour toward the vast future of the Juche revolutionary cause under the refined leadership of the great Comrade Kim Jong Un. This is the unshakable faith and will of our Party and people.

In today's revolutionary march, how much our struggle and effort are redoubled will determine whether all the precious things won thus far with blood and sweat lead to our greater dignity and happiness, or fail to do so.

All Party members, working people and service personnel of the People's Army must cherish the firm conviction that they will surely win when they advance along the course indicated by the great Comrade Kim Jong Un, and must struggle more boldly for the triumphant advance of the Juche revolutionary cause.

We must remain endlessly faithful to the ideas and leadership of the great Comrade Kim Jong Un.

The ideas and leadership of the respected General Secretary are the lifeline for the triumphant advance of our revolution and the strength of pulsating Korea. To uphold the leadership of the respected General Secretary with single-hearted devotion is a sacred demand for safeguarding the lifeline of the Juche revolution and for the endless happiness of our people themselves.

All officials, Party members, working people and service personnel of the People's Army must be more thoroughly armed with the revolutionary ideas of the respected General Secretary. Everyone must regularly and purposefully study the Party documents and Party policies, thereby ceaselessly taking in the nourishment of the revolution. The basis here is to accurately grasp the essence of the ideas and policies of the Party Central Committee. The problems the Party Central Committee intends and seeks to solve must be studied deeply and in principle and firmly set as the goals of one's own work.

We must highly display the revolutionary ethos of unconditionally and perfectly carrying out the conceptions and decisions of the respected General Secretary. Today, the great Party Central Committee, even amid all difficulties and shortages, is making weighty decisions for the endless prosperity of our state and the abundant happiness of the people and is leading with mature and bold leadership. In the thorough implementation of the lines and decisions of the Party Congress and the plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee, which reflect not only the immediate tasks of the revolution and construction but also the prospective demands, lies the shortcut toward the brilliant future of our state and people.

All officials, Party members and working people must accept the decisions and conceptions of the Party Central Committee as the demand of the revolution and the calling of their lives, and must display extraordinary passion and the greatest exertion in their realization. When the lines, policies and orientations of the Party are put forward, they must be taken up immediately, correct methodology and solutions must be sought in good time, and implementation must be carried out without omitting anything, without the slightest discount or the smallest unfinished point.

This is the prestige of our Party, the standing of our state and the foremost glory of our people. At every process and every occasion of work and life, we must always examine whether there is any gap in ensuring the absolute authority of the Party Central Committee, and must make it a habit to take prior measures so that there is not even the smallest shortcoming.

This is the strengthening of the Party's fighting power, the vitality of the revolution and the progressive development of socialism. All Party organizations must wage a high-intensity struggle to implement the Party-building line of the new era set forth by the respected General Secretary and become the cornerstone of the strengthening of the whole Party. While maintaining the true nature of a revolutionary, fighting and working Party and consolidating it in every way, Party work and Party activities must be ceaselessly innovated in keeping with the demands of developing reality. We must uphold high the people-first idea of the Party Central Committee, have the whole Party go among the masses to further consolidate the blood ties with them, and struggle devotedly so that the vitality of our Party's policies for promoting the well-being of the people is fully displayed.

We must raise the banner of independence even higher.

As in the past hundred years, so on the road of advance ahead, the fateful question of independence or subservience, of self-respect or dependence, will ceaselessly arise. At each of those junctures, if the independent stand is bent even for a moment and we deviate from the track of self-reliance, all the things of self-reliance won through arduous struggle will come to naught, and neither dignity nor destiny can be defended. Independence is our lifeline today, tomorrow and forever, and the fundamental principle to be upheld even in death.

We must internalize the spirit of independence and self-respect of our Party and thoroughly embody it in all thinking and practical activity. We must cherish the firm conviction that the path we walk is right and that our own style is the best, and become absolute believers in, resolute defenders of and thorough implementers of the ideas and policies of our Party, including the line of independence, self-reliance and self-defence. The faster the pace of social development and the wider the space of change, the more thoroughly we must guard against and uncompromisingly struggle against alien formulas and foreign fashions.

Self-reliance is the one and only mode of survival and mode of creation for a people that has set out on the path of carving out its independent destiny. We must deeply engrave that only self-sustenance and self-reliance offer our way to survive and the shortcut to the fastest development, and must solve all matters on the principle of self-reliance and self-strengthening. Following the spirit of the Chollima movement of the new era, the Kangwon Province spirit and the fighting spirit of the Sangwon working class, we must break down flunkeyism, technology mysticism and empiricism, challenge the impossible and the limits, and, relying on extraordinary spiritual strength and the power of science and technology, continue to kindle the flames of the increased-production struggle ever more fiercely, thereby creating more of the wealth of self-reliance. All cities and counties must become aware of their duty as those responsible for regional development, ceaselessly expand their own-style space of development, and ensure that the new entities of regional transformation actually prove effective, thereby reliably accelerating the diversified and self-reliant development of their localities. All sectors and all units must ideologically embrace the Party's policy of self-reliance and self-sufficiency and direct primary efforts to raising scientific and technological capability and strengthening the talent force.

We must further accelerate the comprehensive development of socialism and open a new path of prosperity.

Socialism was the ideal society envisioned by the pioneering generation of our revolution a century ago, and its far-reaching goal of struggle. To make our precious socialist fatherland, defended from generation to generation, into the mightiest country, the most civilized country and the happiest country, admired by the whole world, and to hand it down to our beloved posterity—this is the sacred duty and the greatest honour of our generation, which carries on the revolution with the great Comrade Kim Jong Un held in high esteem.

All the people must uphold high the noble intention of the Party Central Committee, which makes difficult decisions in difficult times and successively carries out gigantic undertakings for the promotion of the well-being of posterity, and must further heighten the spirit of bold pioneering and ceaseless innovation at every workplace and every post. The five epochal demands of comprehensive development set forth by the Party, including the continued deepening of the work to ensure unified action and establish strong discipline throughout socialist construction, must be taken as the iron rule of work and thoroughly implemented.

There may be differences in the conditions and environments of sectors, regions and units, but there must be no difference in rank in the stride and speed of advance. All sectors, all units and all regions must redouble their fighting power with the extraordinary sense of responsibility of having a share in comprehensive development, and must exert themselves together. The ethos of breaking down sectionalism, sharing advanced technology and experience with one another, and striving to catch up with the units ahead must come to dominate as a social trend. Looking to the future, all work must be carried out with foresight and prospect, so that every achievement leads to higher goals and greater fruits.

We must hold high the banner of the anti-imperialist struggle and further consolidate the national defence power.

The Korean revolution set out with the overthrow of imperialism as one of its important ideals and has remained faithful to its anti-imperialist class character for a century. The reality, in which the world has been turned into the most chaotic and violent world by the abuse of power by imperialism, impresses upon us the justice and eternal vitality of the anti-imperialist ideal of the DIU—to bury all imperialism on earth for the free development and happiness of the working masses.

The will of our Party and people to continue to consolidate our national defence power to an overwhelming level, so that the enemies cannot even conceive of approaching, is unshakable. We must evolve our self-defensive war deterrence without stagnation and at an even faster pace, so as to reliably defend the peace of the state and people today and tomorrow.

The national defence scientists and munitions working class standing at the outpost of the strengthening of national defence power must advance ceaselessly from one challenge to another, from one cutting-edge to the next, thereby ceaselessly developing and producing our-style powerful armaments capable of overwhelming imperialism and constantly charging the armed forces of the Republic with invincible strength.

With the elite revolutionary strong army, there is the mightiest self-defensive power.

The People's Army must firmly hold fast to the Party's direction of army building and its general line and vigorously open a new stage in the development of the revolutionary armed forces. The People's Army must hold fast to the strengthening of the army politically and ideologically as the first strategic task of building a strong army, and must stoutly prepare all service personnel as ideological guardsmen fully charged with the revolutionary ideas of the Party Central Committee, thorough class consciousness and indomitable fighting spirit. The flames of the training revolution must be kindled ever more fiercely, so that the army is prepared as a practical-warfare-type strong army and an invincible combat ranks ready to fight at any time and sure to win if it fights.

Only when the country is firm is there the happiness of every citizen and family. Party organizations and working people's organization organizations must ensure that everyone deeply grasps that contributing to the defence of the fatherland and the strengthening of national defence power is the foremost patriotism. The more peaceful life continues and the more happiness grows, the more all citizens must deeply feel the sacrificial devotion of the People's Army, which shoulders both national defence and the creation of the people's well-being, actively support it, and contribute materially and morally to the strengthening of national defence power.

We must continue to direct great efforts to training the new generation who will steadfastly carry forward the lifeline of the Juche revolution.

The secret of the Korean revolution's ability to purely carry forward and develop the pioneering ideals and spirit over a full century lies in the fact that each generation not only remained infinitely faithful to the revolutionary cause but also devoted painstaking efforts to bringing up the next generation of the revolution splendidly. The fighting goals and fighting environment may change in the future, but the truth that the future of the revolution depends on the training of the new generation cannot change.

The basis in training the reserve is to bring up the new generations as vanguard fighters who know only the ideas of our Party and advance straight along the single path indicated by the Party, and as true patriots who cherish strong conviction in socialism and know how to devote their wisdom and passion to building a prosperous and powerful country.

Party and working people's organization organizations must hold fast to ideological arming and spiritual arming as the core and firmly give them precedence in all work. The more the revolution advances and the more generations change, the more important it is not to forget and to uphold the pioneering spirit of the first-generation revolutionaries. We must deeply implant in the hearts of the new generations the strong fighting spirit of the anti-Japanese revolutionary forerunners who, with the single resolve never to abandon the revolutionary faith even in death, steadfastly braved the biting blizzards of Mt. Paektu. We must devote serious effort to the work of educating the youth, leading all young people to engrave the true meaning of revolution and life and to live and struggle as young revolutionary fighters of the Workers' Party.

The harder the times, the more we must pour sincerity into the rising generation and, with the power of that love, advance stoutly toward a bright future—this is the mode of advance and mode of struggle of our Party. We must cherish the thoroughgoing creed that if the work of training the new generation is delayed by one step, the future of the fatherland is pushed back ten or a hundred steps, and must devote unstinting efforts to this work. The whole Party, the whole state and the whole society must value the work of educating the rising generation, and all the people must become educators and parents, paying special attention to the sound growth of the new generations.

When the anchor of departure was raised a century ago under the banner of the DIU, the revolutionaries of Korea had nothing but the red flag and their bare hands. Yet through a hundred years of struggle, a fundamental transformation has been achieved in the destiny and standing of our fatherland and people.

We have the greatest Party, the most dignified state and the mightiest strength, and we have ranks of revolution numbering tens of thousands upon tens of thousands, infinitely loyal to the ideas and cause of Juche. The future of our revolution, which will be raised by this inexhaustibly powerful Juche force and this staunch foundation, will be even more brilliant and beautiful.

Nothing is stronger than the strength of a people filled with confidence in the path they walk and faith in the future. It is science and truth that, when we advance unswervingly along the single path of Juche, all the dreams and ideals the people cherish will unfold as shining reality.

Let us all unite even more firmly around the great Comrade Kim Jong Un and fight dauntlessly for the final victory of the sacred Juche revolutionary cause and for our great and beautiful future.
