Amid the gigantic struggle that realizes the far-reaching will and ideals set forth in the pioneering days of the sacred revolution and opens the highest heyday of Party strengthening and the new era of transformation of comprehensive national rejuvenation, all Party members and people, who are meaningfully commemorating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the DIU, are filled with great pride and self-respect for the glorious history and traditions of the Korean revolution, which has steadily advanced through generations and centuries under the banner of Juche.

The central report meeting marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Down-with-Imperialism Union was held at the Palace of Culture on the 16th.

The meeting hall overflowed fervently with iron-clad faith and optimism in the truth and boundless prospects of our cause, which has a great beginning, a noble tradition and eternal succession.

Taking part in the meeting were leading cadres of the Party and government, officials of the Party Central Committee, responsible officials of the Cabinet, commissions, ministries and central agencies, teachers and researchers of Party cadre-training institutions, officials of institutions and enterprises in the capital, merited persons and labour innovators, and teaching staff and students of revolutionary schools.

The national anthem of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was solemnly played.

Comrade Ri Il Hwan, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, delivered the report “Let Us Endlessly Glorify the Great History of the Juche Revolution Pioneered by the DIU”.

The reporter said that, although a hundred years cannot be called long in the five-thousand-year history, the hundred-year journey of the Korean revolution is an immortal age in which a country and people who were on the verge of vanishing forever from the world map achieved a great turn in their destiny, becoming an authoritative and powerful socialist state and a dignified and happy people, and that at the starting point of this century-scale transformation stands the DIU.

Noting that the Down-with-Imperialism Union, the first genuine communist vanguard organization in our country, founded by the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung on October 17, 1926, is the root of our Party and the model of unity, he stressed that with the historic day on which the anchor of Juche was raised, there unfolded a glorious hundred-year history of victory, in which a small colonial country soared into a dignified, mighty and prosperous great state and the century-old aspirations and ideals of the people were realized.

He said that the entire course of the Korean revolution is a sacred path that has engraved only the traces of one hundred victories by thoroughly realizing the principle of independence and the socialist ideal set forth by the DIU, and mentioned the immortal historic position and immense vitality of the DIU, which has invariably served as the lifeline of our revolution and the cornerstone of all ages, firmly guaranteeing the building of a socialist power that is independent in politics, self-reliant in the economy and self-defensive in national defence.

He said that the heavy historic mission—to remain infinitely faithful to the ideals and traditions of the DIU, to link the yesterday and today of our fatherland to a more triumphant future, and to go along the Juche path straight to the end—demands redoubled exertion from us all.

The reporter ardently appealed that, as long as the devoted struggle of the new generations continues, faithfully carrying forward under the Party's leadership the noble souls of the first generation of the revolution and the traditions of Paektu, the victorious history of the Juche revolution will flow steadily on into more glorious hundreds and thousands of years, and that all should unite more firmly around the Party Central Committee headed by Comrade Kim Jong Un and struggle staunchly to bring closer the beautiful future the pioneering generation of the revolution envisioned.

All the participants responded with thunderous applause, deeply cherishing in their hearts the noble truth that the victory of communism can be achieved only when the fundamental ideals and principles of the revolution and its proud traditions are unchangeably and firmly carried forward following the great Party.

The meeting concluded with the playing of the song “Long Live the Workers' Party of Korea”.

The central report meeting marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Down-with-Imperialism Union solemnly expressed the revolutionary faith and will of all Party members and people to struggle more resolutely and more boldly to hasten the completion of the glorious Juche cause.

Let Us Endlessly Glorify the Great History of the Juche Revolution Pioneered by the DIU

A century has passed since the Korean revolution raised the anchor of its sacred history for realizing the independence of the popular masses under the banner of the DIU.

Amid the gigantic struggle to realize the far-reaching will and ideals set forth in the pioneering days of the revolution and to open the highest heyday of Party strengthening and the new era of transformation of comprehensive national development, we are meaningfully commemorating the centenary of the founding of the Down-with-Imperialism Union.

Recollecting with deep emotion the long course of the Korean revolution, which has its beginnings in the DIU and has steadily advanced through generations and centuries, our people are filled with great pride and self-respect in their great history and traditions.

At this meaningful gathering, I respectfully pay the noblest tribute to the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung, who opened the beginnings of the Juche revolution and led it along the path of one hundred victories, and to the Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il, and I respectfully offer the greatest glory and the warmest greetings to the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who leads the socialist cause to leaping advance and new victory with outstanding and refined leadership.

Truly it has been a great history, a hundred-year journey of revolution that was arduous yet overflowing with glory.

In the five-thousand-year history of the nation, a hundred years cannot be called long, but this historic course is engraved most brilliantly in the annals as an immortal age in which a country and people who were on the verge of vanishing forever from the world map achieved a great turn in their destiny, becoming an authoritative and powerful socialist state and a dignified and happy people.

At the starting point of this century-scale transformation—which was not brought about by the natural flow of time—stands the DIU.

From the time the country was seized by Japanese imperialism, our people ceaselessly struggled to regain national independence and sovereignty, but because they could not serve an outstanding leader and could not have a genuine revolutionary vanguard organization, they met only with repeated failure and frustration.

The Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung, who had early set out on the path of revolutionary struggle for the fatherland and the people, drew serious lessons from the preceding nationalist movement and the early communist movement, sought a revolutionary path entirely different from them, and on October 17, 1926, founded the Down-with-Imperialism Union with young communists of the new generation who shared his will.

The founding of the DIU, the first genuine communist revolutionary organization in our country, was a solemn historic declaration announcing the new departure of the Korean revolution advancing under the leadership of an outstanding leader.

With the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung's founding of the Down-with-Imperialism Union, our revolution came to advance along independent development with clear fighting goals and strategy, and our people came to take responsibility for their own destiny and carve it out with their own strength.

The DIU is the root of our Party and the model of unity.

Both the idea of Party founding—that a powerful revolutionary vanguard capable of taking responsibility for the working people and this country to the end and advancing to communism must be formed—and the tradition of single-hearted unity centred on the leader have their origins in the DIU.

The essence and might of the DIU lie in the fact that it was a pure and fresh new-type political organism in which hot-blooded revolutionaries, captivated by and in absolute sympathy with the great personality and grand will of the Great Leader who was opening an original course of revolution for the country's independence and the people's liberation, united as one.

Though it was a newly founded revolutionary organization that took its first step holding nothing but bare hands and a red flag, in its ranks pulsed a thoroughgoing conviction to achieve the country's independence by its own strength and build a new society in which the working people are the masters, and the bold spirit to overthrow all imperialism on earth and complete the cause of socialism and communism.

From the day the Juche revolution raised its anchor, there unfolded a glorious hundred-year history of victory—proud and worthy—in which a small colonial country soared into a dignified, mighty and prosperous great state and the century-old aspirations and ideals of the people were realized.

The history of the Korean revolution, which has lasted a full century, shines as a sacred age that has engraved only the traces of one hundred victories by thoroughly realizing the principle of independence and the socialist ideal set forth by the DIU.

Independence is the fundamental principle and fundamental stand of our revolution and its first life.

With the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung's creation of the Juche idea, the independent revolutionary doctrine, the Korean revolution came to stand on a new track of advancing by relying on the strength of our people while rejecting flunkeyism, dogmatism and dependence on foreign forces.

Because we held high the banner of independence, our people appeared on the stage of history as masters of the revolution carving out their own destiny with their own strength, and could successfully carry out the complex and difficult tasks of the revolutionary struggle that led to two revolutionary wars, two stages of social revolution and socialist construction.

In the stern years of struggle, obstacles blocking our way were countless, but the revolutionary line and principle of independence, self-reliance and self-defence—opening the path of prosperity and strength according to the will of our people, with our own strength and in our own style—were never shaken.

On that sacred journey there was the legendary Chollima era, opened with the thoroughgoing independent stand that we know the road we must take, resolutely repelling foreign interference; and there was also the miracle of history in which the great cause of national prosperity and military strength was unfolded, surmounting the great political storms of the world and piled-up difficulties.

The struggle for independence is accompanied by a fierce confrontation with imperialism, whose nature is aggression and plunder.

In the very midst of the century when the dominationist order centred on the great powers was legalized as an unshakeable law, the entire course of the Korean revolution—finding, defending and staunchly fostering the independent dignity that is as precious as life to our people—was a continuous bloody struggle in which not a single step could be taken without a thoroughgoing anti-imperialist, independent spirit and a death-defying resolve.

Throughout the whole course of revolutionary leadership, the Great Leader armed the popular masses with the anti-imperialist, independent idea and aroused them to an all-people resistance, and built and strengthened and developed the Juche-oriented revolutionary armed forces, thereby creating the military miracle of defeating the two imperialist strongholds.

Because our people advanced unswervingly under the banner of the anti-imperialist struggle and the banner of Songun raised by the Great General, they displayed successive victories in the anti-imperialist, anti-US confrontation even in the period when the anti-Republic strangulation manoeuvres of the imperialist allied forces reached their extreme, firmly defended the destiny of the fatherland, the revolution and socialism, and highly displayed the majesty of an independent people and an independent guard.

The strengthening of the country's military power with the People's Army at its core has been valued as the foremost state affair that cannot be delayed even for a moment, the self-reliant foundation of the defence industry has been extraordinarily strengthened, and our state has soared into an invincible military power that no aggressive force dares to touch.

By the outstanding leadership of the Great Leader and the Great General, the ceaseless aggressive war-provocation manoeuvres of the hostile forces were smashed at every step, and our people could enjoy a peaceful life without knowing war for decades.

Under the great leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, the revolutionary stand and will of our Party and state—holding fast to anti-imperialism and independence as the absolute and unchanging first state policy and tolerating not the slightest high-handedness and tyranny of imperialism—are being displayed even more powerfully.

Since the history of imperialist aggression and nuclear blackmail cannot be ended without possessing the mightiest self-defensive power, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un set forth the new line of simultaneous development and, leading the arduous first path at the very forefront, accomplished the historic great cause of completing the state nuclear force.

To legalize the state nuclear force policy with the general will of all the people, to further advance nuclear weapons development, and to stipulate in the Constitution of the Republic the unshakable will to firmly guarantee the right to existence and development of the country and people, deter war and safeguard regional and world peace and stability—this was a great political event that raised the dignity and strategic position of our state as a dignified nuclear-weapon state to the highest level and dealt a decisive blow to the enemies.

By the thoroughgoing independent conviction and devoted leadership of the iron-willed brilliant commander, who set forth a grand strategic programme for national defence development—equivalent to creating anew our national defence science and technology and munitions industry—and powerfully guided its implementation, the national defence power has extended into the boundless sky and the distant oceans and evolved into a substance of super-powerful and limitlessly unrivaled strength, staunchly guaranteeing the safety, rights and interests of our people.

The great leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who set forth new ideas on the line of building a strong army and on the three elements of armed forces and had them thoroughly embodied in the building of the revolutionary armed forces, has enabled the armed forces of our Republic to fully possess the strength and appearance of the world's strongest army politically, ideologically, militarily and technologically.

The heroic Korean People's Army, raised by our Party, fully displayed matchless fighting mettle and practical combat capability on the battlefields that drew the attention of the world, with infinite loyalty to the fatherland and people, thereby newly establishing the concept of a strong army and the law of victory and brilliantly displaying to the whole world the great honour of an eternally victorious country.

The proud reality of the Republic, which suppresses and smashes the high-handedness and tyranny of imperialism with the mighty strength and confidence to overcome all injustice and challenges, and opens the new era of a great power, is the shining fruition of the line of independence that has been the unchanging principle and the proper mission of the Korean revolution.

Socialism is the political keynote running through the entire course of the Juche revolution and the banner of struggle and advance that has never wavered in the slightest.

The Great Leader and the Great General unfolded a new history of socialist construction embodying the Juche idea and built a truly people's country, the most superior socialist state centred on the popular masses.

Our-style socialism, in which the Juche view of the people and the Juche philosophy of the people are embodied, is the most people-oriented socialism that gives the working masses a true life; a solid and powerful socialism in which the whole society is firmly united as one harmonious great family; and an invincible socialism that advances and wins with self-reliance as its motive force.

Juche socialism—in which what is for the people and what is people-oriented is placed first as the most just, in which people-oriented measures are invariably implemented however difficult the situation, in which everything in society serves the people, and which advances by the inexhaustible spiritual strength of the masses—has become the life and the living of our people.

Even amid the collapse of the world socialist system and the encirclement by imperialism, our people firmly defended the socialist ideal and system, thereby demonstrating in reality the scientific nature of socialism and the inevitability of its victory, and willingly shouldered and carried out the historic mission assigned by the times.

By the noble will and energetic leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who strives to give our people the happiest and most civilized life in the world, our socialist construction has entered a new era of comprehensive and radical development.

As the work of strengthening the politico-military might of our state, readjusting and reinforcing the overall national economy, and transforming the whole cultural sector including education and public health is being actively pushed forward, and as the struggle to implement the new regional development policy and the new-era rural revolution programme is rising by a huge margin, new models of our-style development and civilization are being created in every field and generalized throughout the country, and the appearance of the country is being renewed at a rapid pace.

Today's gigantic transformation—in which the highest records in the standards, speed and attained heights of creation are ceaselessly renewed and every field of social life, every region of the country and every sector of the people's economy are all renewed together—redoubles confidence in the truth and invincibility of our-style socialism, which we have built unswervingly while overcoming every trial.

The trust and patriotic zeal of the people in our system and our state—which make the benefits and welfare of socialism actually reach the very marrow of every person, and which devotedly defend and care for the lives and livelihood of the people amid any crisis—are growing ever more intense day by day.

To have built the superior and powerful socialism that the people absolutely support and defend is the most precious achievement made in carrying out the Juche revolutionary cause.

Because true and fervent love for socialism and the intense aspiration and will for its victory are firmly dominating as the all-people ideological sentiment, our socialism will display irresistible might and advance triumphantly.

The Party is the staff of the revolution and the guiding force of society, and strengthening and developing the Party is the most crucial and decisive issue related to the success or failure of carrying out the revolutionary cause.

The fundamental secret enabling our revolution to advance victoriously along the single path of independence and socialism lies in the fact that, under the original ideas and outstanding leadership of the peerless great men, a Juche-type revolutionary party was founded and its guiding role was ceaselessly strengthened.

The principle of independence and the far-reaching socialist ideal raised by the DIU, and the spirit of unity bound by revolutionary comradeship centred on the leader, became the historic root that brought about the birth of a powerful revolutionary party leading the people in building an ideal society, and the source that enabled our Party to lay a solid organizational and ideological foundation and firmly maintain its character and bloodline.

The Great Leader, taking the Juche idea as the guiding compass, created a new model of revolutionary party building and strengthened and developed our Party into a staff of the revolution deeply rooted in the working masses and victoriously guiding the socialist cause.

The Great General's building of our Party into a Juche revolutionary party firmly based on the leader's ideological and leadership systems, a true motherly party serving the people and united as one with the popular masses, and a promising party that carries forward and completes the leader's revolutionary cause from generation to generation, is a precious achievement that will shine forever in the history of our Party building.

The Workers' Party of Korea has greeted the highest heyday of its development under the outstanding ideas and leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

The respected General Secretary proclaimed Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism as the Party's eternal guiding ideology and the modelling of the whole society on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism as the Party's highest programme, thereby laying down the unchanging guideline for Party building and activities and linking the bloodline of our Party to all ages.

The five-point Party-building line of the new era is an immortal grand programme enabling our Party to further consolidate its peculiar political climate, with the oneness of ideas and leadership at its core, and its organizational and ideological unity, and to ceaselessly strengthen the might of one hundred victories.

In the days of Party building of the new era, the whole Party has been more firmly bound as one organism sharing ideas, will and action with the leader, and the Party's guiding power has been strengthened in every way.

A fundamental turn has taken place in the work of strengthening the Party's grassroots, innovating the leadership system and mode of activity, and redoubling our ideological assets; a new level of whole-Party strengthening has unfolded, and the ethos of implementing Party decisions has come to be displayed even higher.

As the work of consistently embodying the people-first principle in Party building and Party activities is vigorously conducted and the selfless service of the people is established as the Party's sole mode of existence and firm Party style, the single-hearted unity of the Party and the revolutionary ranks has been extraordinarily strengthened.

The majestic struggle that raises the standing of our state and people to the very highest peak in the world, unfolds an era of unprecedented creation and transformation, and hastens the happiness and civilization of the people clearly demonstrates the wisdom and locomotive power of our Party's leadership.

The historic 9th Congress of the Party became an important occasion for expanding the guarantees enabling the Party's leadership and fighting power to be raised further in keeping with the demands of the Party-building line of the new era, and for heightening the struggle for the stable development of state affairs and the promotion of the people's well-being.

The standing of our Party, which takes full responsibility for the dignity, happiness, life and future of the fatherland and people and steadily achieves comprehensive national rejuvenation, gives confidence in the bright future of the Juche revolution.

That the victory of communism can be achieved only when the fundamental ideals and principles of the revolution and its proud traditions are unchangeably and firmly carried forward following the great Leader and the great Party is an absolute truth clearly confirmed by the century-long history of the Korean revolution.

Comrades!

The heavy historic mission—to remain infinitely faithful to the ideals and traditions of the DIU, to link the yesterday and today of our fatherland to a more triumphant future, and to go along the Juche revolutionary path straight to the end—demands redoubled exertion from us all.

In the hundred-year history of the Korean revolution, which has displayed only victory and glory under the banner of independence, the revolutionary leadership history of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un occupies an outstanding place, and on the path of advancing under the leadership of Comrade Kim Jong Un lie the comprehensive revival and development of our-style socialism and its brilliant future.

We must hold fast to the great spirit of defending the single star as an absolute conviction, and, like the first generation of the revolution who cut through the arduous first path, single-heartedly uphold the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, remain infinitely faithful to his revolutionary ideas and leadership, and consolidate the irresistible single-hearted unity of the Juche revolution like a rock.

The more generations of the revolution change and the struggle deepens, the more firmly the new generations must be armed with our Party's revolutionary traditions so that the baton of ideas and faith is steadfastly carried forward.

All the people and service personnel of the People's Army must follow the example of the indomitable fighting spirit and mettle of the forerunners and heighten the spirit of new innovation, bold creation and ceaseless advance, thereby accelerating the epochal trend of comprehensive national rejuvenation.

We must cherish firm faith in the victory of the socialist cause, align our ideals and aspirations with the grand conceptions and goals of the Party, and continue to vigorously conduct the three revolutions of ideology, technology and culture, thereby glorifying our fatherland even more as a mighty, prosperous and promising people's country.

All sectors and all units must thoroughly implement the decisions of the 9th Congress of the Party with lofty patriotic zeal and the revolutionary ethos of self-reliance, continuously innovating and leaping forward in succession.

Party organizations at all levels must thoroughly embody the five-point Party-building programme of the new era in the practice of Party work, conduct innovative, creative and offensive ideological offensives to fully unleash the spiritual strength of the masses, and powerfully push forward all work in keeping with the epochal demands of comprehensive development, so that the whole country seethes with the struggle to splendidly complete the new five-year plan.

Anti-imperialism and independence are the unchanging revolutionary principle to be held fast to permanently as long as imperialism remains on earth.

We must carry forward the thoroughgoing faith and fighting will of the forerunners who opened the path of revolutionary victory with the bold spirit and mettle to become a Magneto clinging to iron chains and a fire attached to the world and destroy world imperialism, and must continue to consolidate in every way the overwhelming self-defensive national defence power that the enemies fear, thereby achieving decisive victory in the anti-imperialist, anti-US confrontation.

As long as the devoted struggle of the new generations continues, faithfully carrying forward under the leadership of the Party and the leader the noble souls of the first generation of the revolution and the revolutionary traditions of Paektu, the victorious history of the Juche revolution will flow endlessly on into more glorious hundreds and thousands of years.
