Comrade Pak Thae Song, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and Premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, made a field survey of work in various sectors of the people's economy.

Visiting the Chollima Steel Complex, the Premier stressed the importance of the task assigned to the complex in carrying out the new prospect goals set forth by the 9th Congress of the Party, and mentioned the need to further raise the operating efficiency of equipment, introduce rational methods of iron production in keeping with the actual conditions, and actively explore and mobilize reserves and ways for increased production and economization.

At the Unjong Farm of Sonchon County and the Ilhae Farm of Jongju City, where a rich crop had been achieved by scientifically and technically carrying out the allocation of varieties and manuring and cultivation, the Premier encouraged the officials and working people who had brought a good harvest this year, and said that the successes achieved in the agricultural sector clearly confirm the justice and vitality of our Party's agricultural policy of ceaselessly raising the level of scientific and intensive farming.

Comrade Pak Thae Song learned about the grain processing and storage capacity of the Yomju County Grain Management Station, and mentioned the need to accelerate the technical renovation of the rice-cleaning and sorting processes on the principle of raising the rice yield and lowering costs, and to actively conduct the work of building a modern grain processing base.

At the Tongrim Mining Machinery Factory, he pointed out that efforts should be directed to technical management and equipment management so as to realize the standardization and normalization of products and firmly build the material and technical foundation for developing and producing new-type, high-efficiency machinery.

At the consultative meetings held on the spot, the issues of the relevant sectors and units satisfactorily ensuring the raw materials and materials needed for steel production, of giving precedence to target design and material supply in machinery production, and of directing greater efforts to technical renovation in the production units were discussed and corresponding measures were taken.
