The full text of the statement “We Do Not Defend Sovereignty with Words”, issued by Kim Yo Jong, Department Director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, on the 19th, is as follows.

The situation on the southern border is now extremely unstable.

Owing to the reckless arrogance of the ROK military gangsters, a grim situation has been created along the southern boundary line.

Since last August, the ROK military war fanatics have, in addition to loudspeaker warning broadcast provocations, picked groundless quarrels, claiming that our personnel mobilized for the barrier construction on the southern border had “crossed the line,” and have fired warning shots with automatic rifles and large-caliber machine guns, threatening the safety of our service personnel. From August 1 to October 17, the loudspeaker warning broadcast provocations perpetrated reached as many as 2,870, and the warning shots 201.

These reckless acts of the enemies have become more undisguised and have gone beyond all bounds since they fabricated the “self-staged mine explosion incident.”

The places where loudspeaker warning broadcast provocations are frequent are the outposts in the areas of the 7th and 15th Infantry Divisions of the 2nd Corps and the 21st and 22nd Infantry Divisions of the 3rd Corps of the ROK army, and the place where warning shot provocations are most seriously committed is the 278th Military Police Outpost in the demilitarized zone of the 21st Infantry Division of the 3rd Corps. In fact, in the period from October 1 to 17 alone, the loudspeaker warning broadcast provocations reached 998 and the warning shots 91.

In particular, in the period from October 15 to 17, in various areas of the southern border, the ROK military gangsters simultaneously perpetrated serious acts of aggravating the situation, conducting about 350 provocative warning broadcasts through loudspeakers and firing about 60 warning shots.

All the facts show that the anti-DPRK confrontation manoeuvres of the Lee Jae Myung government, which had advocated “reconciliation” and “peace” and staged a “conciliatory appearance” from the early days of its tenure, are far surpassing even those of the Yoon Suk Yeol government, the vicious conservative regime that had openly encouraged anti-communism.

The arrogance of the military gangsters is basically aimed at “demonstrating” their “thorough response” while at the same time obstructing our activities to strengthen the southern border.

But such reckless arrogance will clearly expand the enormous situation crisis and bring a great catastrophe upon themselves.

In response to the present situation, our military leadership, as preemptive and suppressive measures, is examining the issue of reinforcing the deployment of tactical strike means near the entire southern boundary line in preparation for any contingency, the issue of resuming loudspeaker broadcasts toward the ROK, and is also considering other measures deemed necessary and appropriate.

We severely warn the ROK military gangsters against their reckless acts that threaten the border security of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the safety of our service personnel at every moment and aggravate the situation.

Seoul will certainly face a danger it will regret and be unable to handle because of the useless arrogance of the military gangsters.

We make it clear once again: we do not defend sovereignty with words.
