Heroic Exploits of the Chinese People's Volunteers Inscribed in the History of DPRK-China Friendship

The history of DPRK-China friendship is vividly engraved with the heroic exploits of the martyrs of the Chinese People's Volunteers who fought shoulder to shoulder with our people in the same trenches.

Seventy-six years ago, the excellent sons and daughters of the Chinese people readily entered the Korean war under the banner of “Resisting US Aggression and Aiding Korea, Defending the Country”.

The Korean war provoked by the US imperialists against our newly founded state in June 1950 was an unprecedented struggle that could be called a confrontation between infantry rifles and the atomic bomb.

In order to achieve its aggressive ambition against our Republic, the US imperialists massively hurled into the Korean front huge forces of more than two million, including the armed forces of its vassal states, and enormous armaments.

At the stern time when a severe trial fell upon our people, the Party, government and people of China, true to the internationalist sense of obligation toward the Korean revolutionaries who had helped the Chinese revolution with blood under the banners of “resisting Japan and saving the nation” and “resisting Chiang Kai-shek and saving the nation”, formed a volunteer army from their precious sons and daughters and dispatched it to the Korean front even in the extremely difficult circumstances of the early period of nation-building.

The warriors of the Chinese People's Volunteers, who crossed the Amnok River with high spirits, displayed matchless bravery and won the first victory in the battle of the Unsan area on October 25, 1950. This day was recorded in history as the day the Chinese People's Volunteers entered the Korean front.

The officers and men of the Chinese People's Volunteers solemnly pledged to cherish every tree and every blade of grass of Korea and, united as one with the Korean people and the People's Army, to thoroughly annihilate the US imperialist aggressor forces.

Carrying this burning pledge in their hearts, they fully displayed indomitable will and mettle on every decisive battlefield where life and death were at stake, making the enemies tremble and establishing immortal exploits. Even amid a hail of shells and bullets, they bravely charged into the enemy positions, risking sacrifice, mowed down the aggressors in droves, and defended the heights of Korea with their blood.

In the defence battle of Height 1071 in November 1950, Hero Yang Kun Sa, when bullets and grenades ran out and he was left alone on the height, shouted “You enemy devils, come up if you dare. On this height there remains only a fighter of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea and defending the country, a member of the Chinese Communist Party. As long as a Communist Party member stands defending the height, you devils cannot take it!” and, carrying explosives with a fuse, threw himself without hesitation into the enemy ranks.

That is not all.

Today, Shangganling still hands down through the ages how sublime was the heroic spirit of sacrifice displayed by the warriors of the Chinese People's Volunteers during the fierce and bitter days of war.

In October 1952, the US imperialists, attempting an adventurous offensive, hurled large forces and combat equipment into the Shangganling area and launched massive attacks.

Shangganling was turned into a sea of fire, but the heroic spirit of sacrifice of the volunteer warriors could not be broken. Hero Son Jom Won, a platoon leader of the Chinese People's Volunteers, threw himself into the enemy ranks with a bundle of grenades and met a heroic end. On another height, Hero Huang Ji Guang, a squad signalman, said “Beloved Korea, how can it be different from my own home, my own fatherland! The enemy bullets may take my life, but they cannot take my beloved Korean brothers,” and with his burning breast blocked the enemy firing port and opened the advance route for his unit.

Defending Korea was also defending my fatherland.

Because they held such noble awareness, Hero Ri Ga Bal, known as the hero of Jiaoyan Mountain, blocked the enemy firing hole with his body and opened the assault route for his unit, and Hero Ho Ga Bung also generously devoted his youth and established heroic exploits.

During the fierce war days of smashing the US imperialists, the common enemy of the Chinese and Korean peoples, the warm blood shed and the ardent youth offered by the excellent sons and daughters of the Chinese people on the mountains and fields of this country, including the Chongchon River, Height 391 and the shores of Jangjin Lake, cannot be fully contained in tens of millions of words and writings.

In the fierce combat course of two years and nine months on the Korean front, the Chinese People's Volunteers produced numerous heroic warriors including Yang Lian Di and Qiu Shao Yun. Heroic companies, platoons and other collective merit sub-units such as the “Wolbong Mountain Hero Company” and the “Yang Kun Sa Hero Platoon” emerged.

Heroes were by no means only at the front.

Exploits could not be found only on the battlefield.

Martyr Ra Song Gyo, who saved a Korean boy who had fallen into an ice hole and died a heroic death, and the volunteer warriors who risked their lives to lure enemy aircraft so that the villagers along the Imjin River could cross the river safely, along with other known and unknown martyrs, generously gave their lives to protect the lives and property of the Korean people.

Because they regarded the Korean people as their own parents and brothers, they helped our peasants with ploughing, sowing and autumn harvesting even in the difficult conditions of war, and restored destroyed reservoirs, embankments, roads and bridges. The beautiful appearance of the volunteer soldiers sweeping the yard of the house where they stayed, drawing water, and saving their own military rations to help many war refugees could be seen everywhere during the stern war days.

Our people sincerely loved the volunteer soldiers who did everything for them and supported them with all their hearts. There were martyrs such as Pak Jae Gun and Pang Won Gun who saved wounded volunteer soldiers under enemy aircraft bombing and unhesitatingly gave their lives for the volunteer soldiers, and the people of Phyonggang who carried relief supplies, ammunition and shells prepared with sincerity for the volunteer soldiers fighting and bleeding on burning heights and crossed back and forth to the front…

Wherever the volunteer soldiers were, there was the warm hand of our people's sincerity treating them as their own brothers.

That is why the officers and men of the Chinese People's Volunteers used to say:

“True gold can be recognized in fire, and a person's character can be tested in trials.”

In those days the militant friendship of the peoples of the two countries was tempered into an invincible one.

Seventy-six years have been marked since the excellent sons and daughters of the fraternal Chinese people entered the Korean war, but the immortal exploits and heroic feats of the Chinese People's Volunteers remain vividly in the memory of our people.

Korea and China are by no means close only geographically.

DPRK-China friendship has thus been firmly combined by militant friendship and sincere trust formed in the common struggle in which the two sides fought for common ideals and a common cause, offering blood and life for each other, and has continued as a special and solid friendly relationship unprecedented in history.

Today the friendly relations between the two Parties and the two countries are being sublimated and developed onto a new higher stage.

The invincible DPRK-China friendship, linked by blood ties and firm with a great ideal, will be brilliantly carried forward on the single path for socialism.

Nordic Regional Seminar for Friendship with the Korean People on the Occasion of the 81st Founding Anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea

Held in Denmark, Joint Declaration Issued

On the occasion of the 81st founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea, a Nordic regional seminar for friendship with the Korean people was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, on the 10th.

The seminar, under the theme “Friendly Cooperation between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Europe in the Present Era”, was attended in person or by video link by personages and members of friendship and solidarity organizations and Juche idea study organizations of various countries including Denmark, Sweden, Iceland and Finland, as well as Switzerland, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Italy and Poland, and the Chairman of the Korea Friendship Association.

A congratulatory letter sent by the Korean Association for External Cultural Exchange was conveyed at the seminar.

The Chairman of the Denmark-DPRK Friendship Association made the opening address.

He said that the reality of Korea should be made well known among the broad masses, and that the European public does not believe the false propaganda of the West slandering Korea but is disillusioned with imperialism, and that many people are joining the solidarity movement to fight against imperialism.

He expressed full support for our Republic's preferential efforts to strengthen national defence under the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, and continued as follows.

The construction of 50,000 flats in Pyongyang decided by the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea has been splendidly completed.

In Korea the state builds modern and excellent dwelling houses and provides them free of charge to the people; such a reality is an amazing thing that cannot be found in the capitalist society in which we live.

Comrade Kim Jong Un set forth the next stage of socialist construction at the 9th Congress of the Party.

Under his energetic leadership, which unfolds the period of all-round prosperity of national revival, the regional development policy is being powerfully implemented in Korea.

He condemned the US manoeuvres aggravating tension on the Korean Peninsula and expressed the will to more actively conduct the solidarity movement with the Korean people in the future.

Then discussions took place.

The Chairman of the Sweden-Korea Friendship Association mentioned the following.

The great President Kim Il Sung, Comrade Kim Jong Il and the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un built people-centred Korean-style socialism with outstanding and refined leadership and led it to victory and glory, making outstanding contributions to the cause of independence of humanity.

The Workers' Party of Korea has guided millions of Party members and tens of millions of people to realize independence in politics, self-reliance in the economy and self-defence in national defence, and is vigorously pushing forward the three revolutions of ideology, technology and culture.

Europe should better understand the reality and position of Korea.

Friendship and solidarity activities with Korea constitute an important undertaking contributing to world peace, mutual understanding and common security.

The Chairman of the Iceland-DPRK Friendship Association mentioned that he had been deeply impressed by the strong aspiration and ideological spirit of our people to live and develop independently.

He praised the ever-victorious Workers' Party of Korea as a lighthouse of hope for those yearning for independence and justice and as a model for progressive parties of the world, and called for more active work in the common struggle against imperialism.

The Chairman of the National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea in Finland said that under the guidance of the Workers' Party of Korea the Korean people have achieved miraculous successes and brilliant transformations astonishing the people of the world, and explained the principle of independence that our Republic holds fast to as an unchanging guideline and consistently maintains.

He praised that, thanks to the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung, Comrade Kim Jong Il and Comrade Kim Jong Un, Korea has boldly smashed the challenges it faced, built and developed a true people's state yearned for by humanity, improved the people's living standards and staunchly consolidated the national defence power.

The Chairman of the Korea Friendship Association discussed how the immortal exploits achieved before the times and the revolution by the fatherly Leader, the Great General and the respected General Secretary, the great vitality of the Juche idea and the proud development of our Republic are arousing boundless praise and great emotion among the new-generation members of the association.

The Chairman of the British Association for Friendship with Korea said that today Korea has entered a new era of prosperity under the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, and conveyed the fact that even the media of hostile countries acknowledge the amazing development of our fatherland.

He expressed his feelings that during his visit to Korea he could not help but marvel at the leap-forward advance and indomitable spirit of the great socialist state, and said with emotion that the reality of the Republic is a miracle born of self-reliance based on the Juche idea.

At the seminar a congratulatory message to the respected General Secretary was adopted.

The message pointed out that the participants in the seminar praised the proud and rewarding life of our people living happily in the warm embrace of the leader, the 81-year struggle achievements of the Workers' Party of Korea and the meaningful successes achieved in the process.

It also conveyed that Western politicians, experts and media are amazed by the fact that people-centred Korean-style socialism is developing beyond recognition while overcoming unprecedentedly stern challenges.

The message stressed that it has been clearly proved before the world that Juche Korea, socialist Korea, is the most solid and most prosperous country based on love and trust for the working people.

At the seminar a joint declaration confirming unchanging support for and solidarity with our Republic was issued.

The declaration stated that despite the serious health crisis and natural disasters sweeping the world and the imperialists' persistent sanctions and strangulation manoeuvres, Korea has entered a dynamic era of socialist development, and that under the leadership of General Secretary Kim Jong Un Korea is clearly showing how a people-centred society holding high the banner of self-reliance is developing in accordance with the strategic decisions adopted at the historic Party congresses.

The declaration pointed out that our Republic has staunchly consolidated the national defence power in coping with the persistent military threats of the imperialist allied forces and firmly defended the country's sovereignty and dignity.

The declaration exposed the fact that the US imperialists and their vassal forces are running wild with aggressive military exercise manoeuvres against our state while heating up a denunciation campaign and false propaganda against Korea, and stressed that friendship and solidarity organizations should correctly inform people of the reality of Korea through various propaganda means, strengthen international coordination and cooperation, and actively involve the broad masses in the movement to support the just cause of the Korean people.

The Crimes of Unit 731 Continue to Be Revealed

Not long ago, a media outlet of Singapore broadcast a documentary film “Exposing the Secret of Unit 731: Japan's Secret Human Experiments”. The film was produced with the aim of enabling viewers to know the truth of history in more detail, based on interviews with the only surviving former member of the old Japanese Army Unit 731, victims of germ warfare and their families, and scholars.

The film aroused great interest and response among the people.

Viewers asserted that history must not be forgotten and that the cruel and inhuman atrocities of Unit 731 must surely be judged. This film is said to have been evaluated as Singapore's best historical documentary.

Meanwhile, a Japanese broadcaster aired a documentary film “The Hidden Unit: Silent Postwar” exposing the inhuman crimes of Unit 731, based on newly discovered photographs and testimonies of witnesses.

These facts show that the bloody traces of the old Japanese Army Unit 731 still arouse the shock and surging anger of the people of the world today, and that no matter how desperately the Japanese reactionaries struggle, the crimes committed by Japanese imperialism in the past can never be covered up.

As has been exposed, Unit 731 of Japanese imperialism committed atrocities that invoked the wrath of heaven against humanity during the Second World War. The murderers of this unit not only conducted human experiments and germ research on living people but also carried out frostbite experiments, poison gas experiments and even human dissection.

Last year Russia handed over to China materials including interrogation records of Unit 731 members and investigation reports on the crimes they committed. The materials fully exposed the unpardonable crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists through Unit 731. A spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the materials handed over by Russia once again prove the countless inhuman crimes of Unit 731, and stressed that no one can deny this clear evidence.

However, instead of acknowledging and compensating for its past crimes, Japan is viciously manoeuvring to deny and even glorify its history of aggression. Regarding the notorious Unit 731, it is absurdly disguising it as a “unit engaged in hygiene research” and mocking the people of the world.

According to reports, recently the Japanese right-wing forces have even been using artificial intelligence technology to cover up the truth of history and manipulate materials to bury past crimes including the atrocities of Unit 731.

The purpose of Japan's stubborn refusal to listen to the voice of humanity's conscience on the settlement of the past and its persistent clinging to the manoeuvre of distorting history lies nowhere else.

It is to dampen vigilance against and negative public opinion about the new militarism and open the path to reinvasion.

Japan is miscalculating.

No scheme can justify past crimes already proved before the whole world. The manoeuvres of the Japanese reactionaries only threaten peace in Asia and the world and expose their ever-growing ambition for reinvasion.
