The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, had a commemorative photo taken with the teachers and researchers of Kim Il Sung University, which significantly greeted its 80th founding anniversary on October 1.

All the participants, looking up to Comrade Kim Jong Un, who attended the event marking the round-number founding anniversary of the university, bestowed an immortal grand programme for the leap-forward development of socialist education in the new era, and repeatedly granted boundless trust and the highest honour, respectfully paid their boundless gratitude.

Comrade Kim Jong Un said that the 80-year history the comprehensive university has walked together with the prosperity of the Republic is a historical epitome proving the justice and vitality of our Party's policy of valuing education and talent, and a proud course in which the spirit and wisdom of Korea, advancing with intense aspiration and lofty ambition, are concentrated, and said that splendidly commemorating the founding day of the mother university that opened the beginnings of training revolutionary talent and of the most authoritative supreme institution is the pride and auspicious event of the Party, the state and the people.

Comrade Kim Jong Un said that behind the numerous talents who propel the vigorous advance of our fatherland opening the new era of great transformation lie the unknown efforts of educators who unselfishly become the nourishment for their students' growth without seeking any reward and guide them onto the path of a true life, and expressed fervent respect and gratitude for the noble lives and patriotic devotion of the teachers and researchers who, with a lofty sense of responsibility and a clear educational conscience, generously devote everything of their lives for the future of the fatherland.

Comrade Kim Jong Un once again stressed that the mission and role of Kim Il Sung University today are very important and that the expectations of the Party and the people are also very great, and expressed his conviction that the teachers and researchers of the university would reliably guarantee the comprehensive development of socialism through their core and leading activity for the implementation of the strategic tasks of building an educational power, a scientific and technological power and a talent power.

Enthusiastic cheers burst out, looking up to the Marshal, and echoed across the foot of Ryongnamsan.

All the teachers, researchers and officials of the university hardened their firm resolve to take the new-era socialist educational programme clarified by Comrade Kim Jong Un as an immortal guideline, and to further highly display the dignity and honour of the university at the vanguard of the honourable struggle to build a great, strong and prosperous country, and on the path of loyalty and repayment upholding the Party and the revolution with brilliant achievements in training the best talents and in scientific research.
