Extraordinary Passion and Burning Pledge Overflowing on Ryongnamsan

Conveying the great joy and soaring spirit of the officials, teaching staff and students of KIM IL SUNG University, who marked the 80th founding anniversary together with the respected General Secretary as a great auspicious event specially recorded in the university's history

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said as follows:

“KIM IL SUNG University is precisely the venerable supreme educational institution symbolizing our state and powerfully propelling its prosperity and development, and a merited prestigious institution that has trained the best talents proudly representing the wisdom and creative power of our people.”

The historic sacred place of Ryongnamsan is pulsating with passion and joy such as it has never known before.

The respected General Secretary, who has resolved at once, on this meaningful round-number founding anniversary, all the earnest wishes that had piled up day after day—will he come today, will he come tomorrow—and who has been together with the teaching staff and students of Kim Il Sung University day after day;

All the officials, teaching staff and students of the university, who received the incomparable honour and happiness of a lifetime by receiving the respected General Secretary at their side as if in a dream, are overflowing with burning enthusiasm to repay his boundless trust and expectation with loyalty.

 

Where Else in This World Are There Educators as Happy as We?

 

Even now, recollecting that moment of glory when they wept and laughed for happiness in the embrace of the great father, the officials, teaching staff and students of the university cannot suppress their great emotion.

Truly, what a founding anniversary it was.

It was the respected General Secretary who, though so busy with state affairs, personally attended to the preparations for significantly greeting the 80th founding anniversary of the university and bestowed his great benevolence again and again.

And then, taking precious time on the day before the founding anniversary, he visited the university and gave programmatic guidelines; and as if he still had love left to give, he came again on the meaningful founding anniversary, embraced all the teachers and researchers in his affectionate arms, and even had a commemorative photo taken that will be handed down for a lifetime. Truly, what words could one choose to respectfully offer thanks?

President Kim Sung Chan opened his heart about the feelings of meeting the respected General Secretary:

“At the thought that the educators of our Ryongnamsan always hold a place in the heart of the respected General Secretary, my heart swelled with great pride and pulsated with happiness.”

Comrade Im Song Jin, Director of the Optics Research Institute of the Faculty of Physics, candidate academician, professor and PhD, who had the honour of respectfully presenting a fragrant bouquet to him, bearing the boundless wishes and gratitude of the sons and daughters of Ryongnamsan, said in a voice choked with emotion:

“A year ago I had the honour of being invited to the celebrations of the 77th founding anniversary of the Republic as a labour innovator and merited person, and of having a commemorative photo taken with the respected Marshal. Today I have been granted yet another extraordinary honour—presenting a bouquet to him who has visited the university. When he warmly held my hand, it felt as though I had received the whole of this world's honour and happiness. A lifetime's wish has been fulfilled. I will cherish today's honour and defend the teaching platform of Ryongnamsan to the end of my life.”

Comrade Choe Myong Bok, PhD and associate professor, a teacher of the Faculty of History who presented a bouquet to the respected General Secretary together with Comrade Im Song Jin, was also unable to continue speaking, saying that seeing everyone envying and congratulating him and asking to shake the hand that he had held, his heart grew hot at the thought of where else in this world there could be people happier than the educators of our Ryongnamsan.

When the respected General Secretary affectionately called out, “Teachers and researchers and students of Kim Il Sung University, our country's foremost talent-training base and supreme temple of science and education!” and began his meaningful speech, one could not hold back the tears that suddenly welled up. Yesterday he had placed the title of teacher alongside the sacred and noble title of mother, highly exalting our educators as benefactors who shape and nurture life and as patriots among patriots; and today he has raised the educators of Ryongnamsan onto that very highest pedestal—how could that gratitude ever be fully told in words?

Comrade Kim Un Chol, Chair of the Economics Faculty, is not the only one who burst out with such emotion.

Truly, it is unthinkable apart from the energetic and wise leadership of the respected General Secretary that Kim Il Sung University could more clearly define its position as a reliable talent-training base that symbolizes the height of our education, represents the development of our state, and makes our future optimistic.

Under the great trust and love of the respected General Secretary, who also set forth the task of solving the theoretical, practical, scientific and technological problems arising in opening the new era of transformation and called them to important research projects that enhance the national prestige of our state, the teachers and researchers of the university exerted themselves again and again with loyalty and patriotic passion, and achieved remarkable successes in education and scientific work.

In those days, the dignity and honour of Kim Il Sung University came to be displayed even higher.

When he said that, burying all the painstaking efforts and labours he had devoted, and now seeing here the passionate appearance of the university's thousands of educators and more than ten thousand students, he could not help but feel his heart swell with trust and confidence in the powerful force that would shoulder the future of the country, the teachers and researchers of the university could not suppress the passion that surged up from the pride and self-respect of holding the teaching post at the supreme temple of Juche-oriented science and education.

Therefore, the voices of boundless gratitude bursting from all the officials, teaching staff and students, who once again keenly realized with all their hearts the lofty intention of the respected General Secretary that both the core cadres who faithfully uphold the revolutionary cause of the Workers' Party of Korea at the very forefront and the cutting-edge scientific and technological achievements contributing to the strengthening of the country's national power must come from Kim Il Sung University, ring out endlessly in the sky of Ryongnamsan.

This meaningful great auspicious event of today, envied by the whole country, was bestowed by the respected General Secretary.

Truly, there are no educators in this world as happy as we are!

 

Let Us More Brilliantly Glorify the Dignified People's University Throughout the World

 

Hardening their resolve to repay the great love and trust of the respected General Secretary not with words or resolutions but with higher educational and scientific achievements, the sons and daughters of Ryongnamsan are now filled with burning enthusiasm to take even more vigorous and larger strides in the march of advance.

Comrade Kim Chol Ung, Director of the Catalysis Chemistry Research Institute of the Faculty of Chemistry, PhD and associate professor, said that the more he thinks of the trust and love of the respected General Secretary, who congratulated the teaching staff and students on the occasion of the 80th founding anniversary of the university, delivered a programmatic speech, watched together a grand commemorative performance by a renowned art troupe and had a commemorative photo taken in glory, the greater grows his impatience and anxiety at not being able to live up to his lofty expectations, and that he would devote his heart and soul to the educational and scientific work entrusted to him with a new mindset and struggle for it.

It is the great trust and expectation of the respected General Secretary for Kim Il Sung University that, as the supreme institution supporting the dignity and prosperity of the state with the two pillars of education and science, it must train revolutionary talents who truly serve their fatherland and people in name and reality and must play an even greater role in the country's scientific development.

Therefore, the zeal of all the teachers and researchers to repay his trust and expectation—who raised the dignity and position of Kim Il Sung University to the highest and greatest height, calling it the mother university that opened the beginnings of training national cadres of our state, the parent base that has trained numerous backbone talents loyal to the Party and the revolution, the supreme institution representing the intelligence and civilization of Korea, and the university whose name and history are the most glorious—soars as high as the heavens.

Comrade An Yong, Chair of the History Faculty, PhD and associate professor, said that as the respected General Secretary resolved the wishes all the educators of Ryongnamsan had earnestly desired beyond their expectations, the more time passes, the heavier his shoulders feel at the thought of whether he could ever fully repay that trust and expectation.

Truly, even at this moment, it is by no means only passion and joy that overflow on Ryongnamsan.

Intensive operations and organizational work are being vigorously conducted to continuously improve the educational level of political and ideological subjects so as to train students into genuine revolutionaries with only Juche-type red blood flowing from head to toe, to make the entire course of teaching and upbringing a process of spiritual arming that engraves the Party Central Committee's will and intention, and to make daily life a process of ideological training, will training and character cultivation that equips them with loyalty to the Party and the revolution, noble patriotism and lofty personality.

Comrade Kim Song Mu, Director of the Nano Materials Research Institute of the Faculty of Materials Science, PhD, said:

“The respected General Secretary taught us that the comprehensive university should rightly receive the recognition of the fatherland and people through a true and sound educational process and its fruits, before receiving recognition from the world in any particular index or item, and should have its position verified by that.

“As our Marshal said, my determination grows firmer to become the foundation for training the best revolutionary talents with the conscience of an educator and boundless devotion, in order to bring up true patriots who can struggle for the fatherland and people and true servants and servants of the country who will uphold the country.”

At the same time, he expressed his determination to uphold his intention that Kim Il Sung University should become the base and play a core role in the creation of the country's cutting-edge industries, and to contribute to glorifying the dignity and prestige of the university by becoming even bolder in the development of new materials and new technology products that can proudly compete with the world, taking the achievements and results made in the development and introduction of cutting-edge sealing products as a new starting point.

All the educators of Kim Il Sung University, including the senior professors with white hair on their heads and the teachers and researchers of the new generation, are bursting out with one heart and one voice, bearing a heart-swelling pride.

This extraordinary honour and happiness of being an educator of Ryongnamsan, envied by everyone, is the greatest and highest privilege that can be received only in the embrace of the respected General Secretary, who values and puts forward Kim Il Sung University as the venerable supreme educational institution symbolizing our state and powerfully propelling its prosperity and development, and as the merited prestigious institution training the best talents proudly representing the wisdom and creative power of our people.

It is not only the educators.

“Students of Kim Il Sung University!”—it was truly a warm call laden with great trust and expectation.

The words of the respected General Secretary, full of love and trust, saying that on their shoulders rest the honour of this dignified university and the future of the country, made the hearts of all the students grow warm with emotion.

Comrade Kim Jin Sim, a student of the Faculty of Korean Language and Literature, expressed her excited feelings as follows:

“When I heard the affectionate voice of the respected father Marshal, it felt as though he were warmly calling each one of us by name, and I could not hold back the tears that streamed down.”

That an ordinary daughter of a soldier's family should study at the supreme institution representing the intelligence and civilization of the country is already more than she deserves; yet to be called so affectionately and warmly and to be granted every kind of love—truly, with what words could this gratitude ever be fully expressed?

No poet, however renowned, could ever fully portray the appearance of the sons and daughters of Ryongnamsan who are so happy.

Comrade Hwang Yong Jin, a student of the Faculty of Law, also said that, receiving the words of the great trust of the respected father Marshal that the teaching ethos of Kim Il Sung University is directly linked to the national ethos, he deeply engraved how every moment of university life must become a most precious textbook of life, and hardened his firm resolve to become a model in making discipline and ethos faithful to the Constitution of the Republic and faithful to morality and fidelity overflow on the campus.

It is by no means only their thought to prepare themselves as the best revolutionary talents with the ambition and boldness of Ryongnamsan at the excellent prestigious institution the Party has provided.

Our object of competition is the world, and the protagonists of the competition with the world are none other than us, the students of Kim Il Sung University.

Let us challenge the world, compete with the world, and struggle with the formidable ambition to step up onto the world and rise—proudly displaying the dignity and honour of the university!

Whichever faculty one visits, whichever students of whichever department one meets, this resolve is more firmly established in every heart.

In the heart of Comrade So Ryong Nam, a student of the Faculty of Electronic Automation who holds the honours of a university student scientific inquiry prize-winner and a multilingual speaker, a formidable ambition had always held its place. But from the moment he received the earnest words of the respected father Marshal that university students must have a strong self-respect and confidence to make our fatherland stronger and surely prosperous, must have ambitions and boldness that will astonish the world, and must have excellent academic records engraved with conscience and passion, he set anew the height of knowledge he would rise to.

Comrade Han Kyong Ju, a student of the Faculty of Resources Science, also said that he once again deeply felt with what mindset one must approach study in order to become the revolutionary talent our Party desires, and spoke as follows:

“I will study hard to prepare myself as a true patriot who struggles for the fatherland and people, and as a true servant who upholds the country, as the respected father Marshal wishes.”

Truly, the passionate utterances ringing out from each of their hearts are an eruption of burning pledges to repay with high academic achievements the great trust of the respected General Secretary, who said that for the prosperity of the state and the well-being of the people, for the advance of our cause, we must study harder and struggle harder.

Receiving the fervent encouragement and heaven-like trust of the respected General Secretary, Ryongnamsan is seething like a forge even at this very moment.

The soaring spirit of all the officials, teaching staff and students of Kim Il Sung University, who will faithfully uphold with loyalty the ideas and leadership of the respected General Secretary—who valued them and placed them at the vanguard of the honourable struggle to build a strong and prosperous country, and bestowed upon them wholly his great trust and expectation to advance with even higher confidence for the sake of our great fatherland Korea and for the sake of all our great ideals and great success—is growing ever more elevated with each passing day.
